Right Foot, Left Foot

ddot- there is a lot of truth in that statement. Hopefully once healed the bench PR?s will start coming back.

Matty- thank you. Lots of Biofreeze and fish oil.

Brett- Agreed. Guessing that all of us have fallen into that trap at one point or another, it?s about learning from it and moving on.

These are some serious roofers! Guessing it’s a nontested industry.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder. Hopefully it isn’t anything serious.
Yeah, doing the prowler when the temp is in the triple digits might edging over from hardcore into dumb. Good decision. Hell, we get a couple of dozen days a summer at over 100 degrees, but the most I do in it is mow the grass…which is walking.

Ah, just finished catching up. Not too serious. Good.
Let it heal! There are already enough of us old bastards whining about shoulders.

I know that’s right, gotta stave off those old age injuries as much as I can.
Today is supposed to be in the mid-low 80’s hopefully get to do some prowler work tonight. Conditioning, conditioning, conditioning.

Gotta be on something, those guys work 7 days a week from sun up to sun down, now we know their secret.

Heal up Dday

if you really want to see a jacked contractor
go hire a mason.

^Thanks kmcnyc.
Ain’t that the truth, masons are strong mofo’s! Nothings light in that kind of work.

Straight conditioning tonight.

Good bit of warm up then prowler.

Empty prowlerx2
+45’s x2
+45+35’s x2
+45+35+25’s x2
+45+35+25+90lb sandbag dragging a tire x1

It wasn’t 100* only about 93* with a nice breeze, still hot. Took long breaks and drank lots of water, still kicked my ass.
Was concerned about straining my shoulder, however as long as I stayed with a neutral grip it was good. I did do one pass on the low bar but the pronated grip was not comfortable.

Great work. 93 is still nice and warm.

I am a firm believer that you need to expose yourself to such conditions so that you don’t lose the ability to function in them, if the need arises. That is really why I mow, trim, etc… in the heat of the day. So that I am somewhat used to it.
But we have to be reasonable/safe.

I have to head my own advice sometimes. Not necessarily when it comes to injuries, but life in general.

Strick- 100% agree, especially a guy like me who works in AC all day. That little breeze was the deciding factor to actually pushing the prowler, that and low humidity. As I’m sure you’re aware that midwest humidity can be a deal killer.

ddot- Good way to keep yourself humble and out of a clock tower. There is a reason for everything, just go with the flow.

FTR- 3000th post, yea me!

Dday what are you weighing now?

232.8 as of Saturday, basically 7lbs since this log started.

Really watching what I eat right now since I won’t be doing much lifting this week. Not that I haven’t been, just keeping closer tab on things. I’m also not eating my pre bed peanut butter and protein until I’m back to actual lifting.

Shoulder is feeling better today than it has since I tweaked it. Had to do some over head work today and it wasn’t until I was done that I realized it didn’t hurt. Have had a few instances over the weekend where it hurt pretty good, just doing normal things. Hopefully this week off will help, next week be back to real work, well a scaled back version.

Glad to hear that the shoulder is doing better. Hopefully the recovery will be quick.

Thanks Strick, it held up real well today. Only some mild pain when I had to climbed a ladder.

could you do some band work while resting the shoulder?

^actually lifted tonight Matty, couldn’t stand it anymore.

Deadlifts

135x5x2
185x5
225x3
275x3
315x3
365x3
405x2

Excuse the bird, that camera was pissing me off.

Band ASSISTED pull ups
5x5

Air humps things (thanks kmcnyc)
135x5x5

Good Mornings (light)
95x5x5

Reading everyones logs and listening to ironradio.org today got the blood flowing, just had to do something. Figured that deads would be the easiest thing on my busted wing, started slow and went from there. Form was down right bad on the last set, however 405 had to be lifted as it won last time.

Played around with pull ups, really just felt them out and about the 5th rep was where I could feel things getting wonky so hung there.

Air hump things, lay on back roll bar to hip and push it up like a DL lock out. Really liked them, need to work out the technique but they may stay.

Good mornings, again trying not to stress my shoulder so kept it light and low reps. Went with a wide grip and kind of liked that as well so may stay there. There are goods and bads about being banged up, first it sucks but you can learn some interesting lifts and things where you need improvement.

Overall happy with it was, probably going to squat Thursday and do some GPP Saturday.

SHOULDERS!!!(sort of)

Foam roller
broom stick stretch thingy (used a band)

OHP
bar x10x10

Internal rotations w/20lb band
5x10-15

External rotations
5x10-15

side laterals
3x10

Crunches
2x50

Decided to do what I could for shoulder training, nothing serious and nothing that caused any pain. What some would call a pump session.
OHP super setted with internal and external rotations. Surprisingly OHP did not hurt however who knows with more weight. Side laterals only bothered me (not pain) if I got out of line.
Tried some tri’s and bi’s both caused a tinge so F’em.

For what it was my shoulders are pretty pumped, haven’t really felt that in a long time.
Bench and shrugs are completely out of the question for the foreseeable future both these motions hurt. Gonna squat tomorrow.

BTW 230.8lbs this morning, that’s -9 total, gotta be happy with that, it is what it is.
