Reverse T3- Why It's Not Useful for Routine Thyroid Testing

I worked my way up to 75mcg. You’ll be ok.

I am going to be blunt.

Guys have symptoms… Everyone has symptoms. Your heart is going to be effected. your muscles around the heart. your blood flow. everything is going to change. Just because you have a weird sensation around your heart does not mean its a palpitation. If your dose is too high then yah , but your doc is probably too scared to do this to you.

I had all kinds of weird aches and pains around my heart. The thyroid controls so much of your body. When we start thyroid and testosterone its like giving an old rusty engine new engine oil. its going to put put put until its back online fully and a beast. Stop it just because it goes put put put and you’ll keep selling yourself short.

The biggest reasons hormones don’t work for men is because they pussy foot around their hormones dosages. one tiny symptom and they freak out and stay at a low dose forever, never getting the full benefits… My libidio didn’t work today, let me make a change. Go read my post on here. see my symptoms and how I got through them.

Please man up and get through this and stop worrying. If you need thyroid meds, have symptoms, take the med stop analyzing every heart beat and ache and pain and correlating it to your meds

My thyroid is good other than high RT3. Not even sure I need the thyroid medicine

With high reverse T3 your thyroid is definitely not good. You free t3 must be low or borderline low. Your free t4 might be good. But it’s being converted to reverse T3 instead of free t3.

Don’t mix with coffee. It messes with absorption

Free T3 is 4 which is good. They’re both in the top range T3 and T4 that is

I also have some issues.
I’ve been taking the T3 for maybe a month already and since 10-14 days I take 12.5 mcg split into two.

The first days I felt ok and normal. But for the last 3-4 days I sleep terrible, all night I’m in some mid sleep condition and cannot relax and fall deeply.

Also today I noticed although I’m terribly under slept I feel relatively hot and went out of home with very light clothing. Usually all my life I’ve been feeling very cold compared to most people and this facilitates a lot if I’m under slept! The people outside are with jackets and I felt fine only with a thin shirt.
Do you think I should reduce daily dose back to 6.25 mg or try to add something to relax my body like more magnesium or melatonin? Usually melatonin makes me drowsy the next day and I reserve it only for special cases…

I wonder if the T3 makes me restless why this happens so many days after I’ve started this dose. Maybe somehow it builds up although it’s half life is very short?

If after a couple weeks I would definitely lower my second dose in half. Or take it much earlier in the day. See if that helps.

What?

Huh?

Free T3 was 4 and Free T4 was 1.82. TSH was 1.02. RT3 25

Above what level is considered high RT3?
Can RT3 lab results fluctuate so much within 1 month without any thyroid meds? Like from 205 to 160?

So when you lower RT3 what does it do to your T4?

By lowering T4 you thus lower conversion to rT3. So you can’t lower rT3 and then affect T4. It’s the other way around.

Using 10 mcg Cytomel daily I’ve managed to increase my T3 from 3.2 to 6.1, and lowered my reverse T3 from 31 to 20. All this without significant shutdown on my TSH snd ft4. TSH went from 1.04 to 0.84 and ft4 from 15 to 12. Ranges are Canadian. Max ft3 is 5.9 and max ft4 is 19.
