Reverse 'Big Guy' Thread

So I’m walking back to the changeroom at the gym this morning, and this big monster of a bastard is walking out - for some reason, Professor X crossed my mind - which, as an aside, is odd because in reality, Professor X is just binary characters - I digress - in what may be the longest, most gramatically incorrect sentence on T-Nation - as this guy was walking out, he kind of nodded at me with respect.

Now, I had just finished a ridiculous push/pull routine, and was as about as pumped as a tiny little bugger like me can get, but the way the guy nodded at me made me feel a touch more proud of myself.

Weak?

I dunno…perhaps. But in light of all the bitching and moaning that is so transparent among a lot of the small guys wanting to be big, I thought I’d change things up a little.

That’s bodybuilding brotherhood speak for, “hey, I’m not the only one in America who lifts weights after all”.

It is just something you do when you see someone who looks like they spend as much time as you do trying to reach a goal.

agreed. nods head

One of the bigger guys (260lbs-ish) that visits our gym infrequently came in on Monday after about 2 months of not seeing him - first thing he said to me is, “What are you on, you’ve grown a lot since I last saw you.”

Definitely nice to hear from someone who actually looks like they lift.

That’s funny, I had almost an identical story happen to me last Friday. Same type of guy. Bigger guy, but I don’t see him that often as he comes in at all times of the day. He saw me on Friday and said something like, “I remember a few years ago when you were skinny, but every time I’d see you in the gym a few months later, you looked bigger than you did the time before.”

Once at the gym I was taking a dump in the bathroom and this big guy in the stall next to me grunted. I’m pretty sure he was trying to tell me that he noticed I was pretty built and appreciated that I spent a considerable amount of time in the gym like him and that perhaps one day if we happened to strike up a conversation in the middle of a workout we could end up being pretty good buddies and possibly workout partners but only if there wasn’t a large discrepancy in our daily schedules because then it would be hard to plan a good workout time every day that would be convenient for both of us.

I tried to read your post out loud. I ran out of breath and almost passed out.

I just pictured Darth Vader reading that aloud. It sounded pretty dang funny in my head.

Nomination for Funniest Response for August 2008.

Seriously though, on the way out of the change room at World Gym in London,ON I almost bumped into a mountain of a man walking in. This dude was a MUSCLE GIGANTOUR wearing a striped tank top and genie pants.

I wasn’t intimidated but rather at awe of his hugeness and inspired. I was lifting seriously for about two years by then and had met a number of big dudes and girls too, but nobody that F’BIG.

I’ve gone to the Arnold Classic and had my picture taken with some of the biggest bodybuilders of the day like Dorian, Lou, Gunter, Nasser and Greg Kovacs, yet was not as taken back by their size as I was that day. I found out later that the guys name was Scott Able who sometimes writes for T-Nation.

Funny thing is that he isn’t as big as the above mentioned pros, yet that day he was COLOSUS. This was about 13-15 years ago yet I still remember that day quite well.
