Yeah, awesome vid. The only thing that could have made that video any better was if they showed clips of the two dogs playing with each other at the end. That really would have warmed me up inside.

I was waiting for someone’s commentary before I watched it. That really did make me happy. That’s pretty amazing too.

Yea - that was really rough. I mean - someone takes your child!? I have a 2 year old girl - my WORST fear is something happening to her. Ugh - I can’t even think about it…
I am with you on this one. Especially with the boy disappearing in Oregon from the elementary school! Terrifying

I care about humans. I would get emotional about some people dieing, but when it comes to a dog, i honestly wouldn’t be that touched by it.
I know theres others like me out there!
And when im watching a film where some lady runs back into her burning house to save her dog from the fire, i cant help but think “you idiot!! its just a fuckin dog!! fuck it!!”
but then i realise i need to respect other people’s values and so on, and i forget about it. But still, it bothers me a little to read posts about people crying more when they see dogs dieing in films, but watching others die has little to no effect on them, i see this as some sort of priority problem.
I remember reading a post by a certain member that he cried more when his pet dog died than he did when his father died. its none of my bussiness, and i shouldnt really be moaning about this, but i feel like lettin my opinion out
i like dogs though, they are nice. i like humans more though, and if some asshole killed my dog, i definatly would not kill the guy like many dog lovers would. i would just say “wtf” that was ma dawg bro
One could argue it is the whole desensatization of our world as a whole. I can’t turn on the news anymore without hearing about someone dying somewhere. Even the radio plays it off like nothing major. “John Doe passed away yesterday at 72 years old. Up next- hilarious pictures that kids drew!”
But even that news report Nards posted no doubt tugged on heart strings wherever it was played. It’s just the way it is.
I have questioned this phenomena myself, actually. I find it odd.

I am the opposite.
Dogs have a purity an innocence in their soul, they don’t judge or demean you.
Most people are selfish and corrupt.

So, what is happening here? I think I follow it but I am not sure…
It’s a compilation of different scenes from the movie. Basically, the story goes like this:
-Two kids enjoy comfortable life with family in Kobe
-Japan goes to war. The father gets drafted by the Navy. He gets killed in battle
-The mother gets hit with a firebomb, and suffers and agonizing and prolonged death
-The kids move in with their bitch aunt, who accuses them of freeloading and tries to sell them for bags of rice
-They run away and find a cave to live in. The only food they brought, the little girl’s fruit drops, slowly run out. Starvation sets in.
-The boy, trying to get something to eat, tries to steal some potatoes from a local farmer. The farmer nearly beats him to death.
-The little girl starts going delerious from hunger. The brother takes her to a doctor. The doctor diagnoses her with severe malnutrition. The brother begs the doctor for food. The doctor tells him to fuck off.
-After scrounging all day for something to eat, the boy returns to the cave and finds his sister eating balls of mud, thinking they were pounded rice balls. She falls asleep and doesn’t live through the night.
-The boy burns her in a funeral pyre and moves into Kobe station to die of starvation.
-Their ghosts reunite and look out over modern-day Kobe.
It’s an incredible film that I wouldn’t recommend watching. It WILL ruin your day. Making it even worse is that the film is based on a TRUE STORY (they found the diary of the boy), and quite accurately at that.
Very accurately put. It’s probably the most depressing film I’ve seen. Damn it, they’re just kids. They shouldn’t have to go through shit like that. Even reading the summary just now kind of ruined my day.
I like dogs better than people, espescially my dogs. I am one of those people. In movies, humans to me end up doing some stupid shit wherein I usual say “dumb fucker deserved it” but dogs are usually innocent or doing some heroic act(except for movies like Cujo.
As far as in real life, I believe people who torture animals should get a lot more than monetary fines or slaps on the wrist like they get now. IMO when people are sadistic and torture innocent animals…humans cant be far behind.

I think most of us care about our pets that much because they have been a loving member of the family for a number of years, and sometimes, they’ve been a better friend than those humans we’ve found around us at the time.
As far as valuing pets more than humans, yes it can get a little ridiculous. That said, not all human lives are equal either.

i think that people who take so called revenge against persons who are “cruel” to animals should get punished more than people who are cruel to animals. killing someone for kickin your dog is silly. putting someone in jail for killing a swan is also dumb. if some guys brutally kill a rat, whos gonna miss it?
in a world where we eat meat to survive i really find it laughable how some people pick their favourite animal, treat it as a pet and devour the rest, and then hate on others for mistreating their favourite species, but have absolutly no hypocritical feelings when eating steaks knowing that cows get a piston stroke to the head.
I accept a certain degree of animal cruelty, because its neccessary and it doesnt bother me. what bothers me is people who strongly believe in harsh punishments against animal cruelty. The selective love for certain animals and not others is sort of shallow. They are all the same, and china proves it by eating them all! that said i will probably own a dog in the future and treat it right. but i wont be ringing the animal rights clowns if i see a neighbor kickin her dog.
sometimes you just have to draw the line between what is silly and what isnt. i mean, that chef on “im a celebrity get me outa here” was gonna get jail for killing a rat to eat it on the show.
wtf. didnt obama get stick for swatting a fly?
fuck sake. fuck the animals, we should be looking after each other!
I agree with you on some points but I don’t think anyone should be allowed to ABUSE animals (or humans) in any fashion. Killing a cow for consumption is one thing. Beating it out of anger or whatever is another. I would totally report it (or confront them) if someone was doing something above and beyond basic reprimand.
The difference between animals doesn’t really play a role here. Do I object to some countries where they eat dogs and cats and such, no. Would I do the same? Hell no. That’s just because it’s what I am accustomed to. Dogs and cats are pets. Cows and pigs tend to be entrees.
That said, any animal that is part of my family gets treated as such. You hurt some part of my family, you better fuckin expect I’m going to hurt some part of you.
How did we get to this again? What did this thread start as? hahaa
PS- Just reading Lanky’s question to you made me smile at the awesomeness that was about to ensue…
Dick bag…imo if a person sadistically tortures an animal for the sake of torturing it then he should definitley be given an appropriate punishment…period. comparing what we do to animals and what we do to animals as pets is comparing pples and oranges. Dogs are for the most part a breed created by man to help man and be a companion to go around and mistreat a dog which is the creation of man is hypocritical to me. My dogs have given me so much joy and comfort in my life wherein I value their life much more than a chicken.
So I guess u would rather kill and torture a dog than kill and torture a terrorist who just killed innocent lives. And of course I wouldn’t choose a dogs life over an innocent human being. I’m not fucked in the head I was talking about movies for fuc@ks sake!

There is a big difference between a “piston Stroke to the head” and dragging an animal behind a truck down a gravel road at 60-100km/hr.
The latter is along the lines of what most people mean when they speak of animal cruelty. Otherwise it’s the same wackjobs that think spanking a kid is a criminal offence.
The anger associated with these types of incidents is the senseless nature of the act. You kill an animal humanely for meat, or kill a rat cause it will spread disease, there is at least some purpose to the loss of life.
Food for thought, if someone is disturbed enough to set a cat or dog on fire, what makes you think they wouldn’t do it to a human if they were able?

That episode is heart breaking, I love Futurama and have seen every episode around 7 times…except this one, I think I only managed to watch it once or twice.
Another sad one is the one where they harvest space honey from the giant bees. The saddest part is where they’re riding in a sleigh on Europa and then Leela wakes up.

A human would fight back, animals won’t.
If they did, I doubt that there would be as many cowards doing such things for their own pleasure.

you say that not all humans life are equal, well neither are dogs. thats what the dog pounds are for. and dogs are culled arent they? i mean, the dogs that aren’t wanted
My point about the equality of human life could have been explained a little better.
What I meant was that was that I have known a number of amazing people, many of who I would donate a kidney to if needed. I have also met a couple of individuals that were despicable pieces of shit. The only positive thing you could say about them is that at least they hadn’t molested children.
If I had to choose between whether I would save the life of a animal or human, if I knew what type of human they were, the decision would be quite easy.
