Reveal a Bit of Your Softer Side

I think it’s interesting how many pet-related responses we’ve had here.

I’ve never even had a dog, but seeing a movie where one dies is the absolute saddest thing to watch. I could see a film where 200 orphans burn to death in an arson caused by igniting Haiti-bound relief money, and seeing one dog or cat bite the dust would affect me more.

I never thought I was a misanthrope, but apparently I am.

Troglodyte is an aggressive Philistine who categorically disdains all new-age enthusiasms and politics, and has a particular animus against homo, tree huggers, hairy-leg lesbo feminists and artsy types. His loud brandishings of common sense and reason are nothing more than conceits to justify his close mindedness. Troglodyte’s fierce, but predictable attacks are easily parried by more nimble Warriors.

In House when Amber dies I almost lost it. It’s sad for a whole episode, too.

And I don’t know who watches Psych, but their most recent finale had two love interests get kidnapped and one was supposed to die. When they get free one of them just starts bawling… thought I was going to lose it then, too.
I can’t feel much sympathy for ‘cut throat bitch’ but i love Psych! They do have some surprisingly emotional moments for a quirky comedy.

Holy shit. I never knew I’d cry so much during a Paul Walker movie.

That movie gets me every time.
Oh man,… about a month after I had to put my Siberian Huskey down (just shy of 14 years old), I was home alone on a Saturday night, had just recently broken up with a girl,… and I just sat on the floor of my living room, crying my f-in’ eyes out!
(and the whole time, I kept saying to myself “turn this off idiot!”)

Sorry guy, but thats so sad its hysterical.

You suck at math Chimera. J/k man. I have two dogs myself, so I know what you mean.

Crying is pretty fucking awesome if you ask me. In the past year I’ve cried/teared up more often because I was overwhelmed by joy or just the beauty of something than for any other reason. Music (not lyrics), art, people, life, whatever. You get to the point where there’s no other way to let it out.

To be more on topic, I lose it when I see someone crying. But in film the acting has to be pretty convincing. Animals dying is always sad. And anything that makes me think of my grandmother.

I’ve never been as disturbed by a piece of video than this.I very nearly cried, but didn’t.Was more a freaked out feeling.

What about songs?

George Jones “He Stopped Loving Her Today” is a good one.

Not a movie, but the episode of Futurama entitled ‘Jurassic Bark’, in which Fry’s dog dies is quite possibly the saddest thing i’ve ever seen.

I have every season of the show and refuse to watch that episode because the first time was plenty enough.

I have also never owned a real pet so I can’t imagine the emotional attachment you would have watching that if you have ever had a pet die.
The music they play during that final scene certainly doesn’t help the crying situation. I agree with everyone who says they don’t do well with dogs dying. I took my mom to see I Am Legend and she had to leave for a bit after Sam died. As a grown man I didn’t want to cry in front of my mom, but as soon as she walked out I teared up, haha. Dogs should be eternal.
If you loved that episode of Futurama I recommend the Richard Gere movie “Hachiko”. It’s based on a true story.
If there’s two things in life I know I’m not fond of it’s anything where dogs die and Richard Gere movies. Think I’ll pass. Thanks though.
I agree completely, but this movie will surprise you…to get an idea, check the previous page where PimpBot5000 linked to the true story it’s based on and you’ll see why you won’t have to watch Gere for long.
Goddamn it Nards, now I’m gonna have to watch the stupid movie.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Even reading the wiki entry on Hachiko can make me feel sad. Well, when you think about it, it’s not really sadness I feel, but some deep feeling of pride in what Hachiko and other dogs do for us.

I know what you mean. My eyes water when I’m happy. Which happens quite a lot. I wouldnt call it crying though because it never develops into actual tears for me.

Gheyest facts about me:
My favorite book is The Lovely Bones.
I like to write poetry.

Should I have to call “no homo” even though it’s in this thread or would that just be redundant?

this kind of stuff…selfless sacrifice

Dogs and kids, and if it’s a combination it’s even worse. I don’t think I have ever actually shed a tear, but my eyes do well up and I have to fight it off. The ending of Bolt got me most recently.

Great one.
Yeah, I forgot about Soldier’s tales. Those will get you every time too.
Here’s a Canadian one from World War I, with soldiers from Winnipeg.

No, its not. People sometimes go through what to them is a rough time and they breakdown. It happens to a lot of people.

Yea, that’s the scene I picked…not gonna lie but it made me want to kill some Somalis, as bad as that sounds.

Haha, I was sitting here trying to figure out how I sucked at math. I was thinking “14=14” doesn’t it? Then realized that you might have been talking about the forever part.

This song almost brought tears to my eyes the first time I really listened to it. It reminds me of my relationship with my brother. I can’t imagine having a relative go to war.
