When you look at the republican national convention lineup it has to send a chill down the back of John Kerry. John McCain, Rudolph Giuliani,
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Condi Rice,
George Pataki etc.
Compare the above with characters like Al Sharpton and the like who spoke at the democratic convention. I don’t think the democrats have the powerful support (shown by the GOP) within their ranks. I mean, who is going to get excited about Ted Kennedy giving a speech?
By the time G.W. takes to the podium on the final night the country will be begging for four more years!
What does everyone else think? Am I off base with this, or are the republicans really shinning?
i sort of agree. I think that condi, cheney and the like fall into the republican only camp…i.e if you are an R you love them, no one else does, and most others hate them
Rudy, McCain, Arnold, and even Pataki cross partisan lines with their base of support and on those people I agree with you.
This convention is the biggest Bait-And-Switch con game!
The Republicans are going to put on their “compassionate” act, that they trot out for elections.
The REAL leaders in the GOP party aren’t even going to be featured!!! Where is House leader Tom “the Hammer” DeLay? Where is Rick “God Hates Fags” Santorum? They’re the real leaders of the Republican party! Rudy Giuliani isn’t even holding an elected office, he’s not even a politician anymore.
This is what they call “trying to put lipstick on a pig”. Most of the speakers don’t even tow the official GOP party line:
Arnold Shwarzenegger: Pro Gay rights, pro Choice, smokes grass on camera, posed for Robert Mapplethorpe photos (among others… wink wink), accused of molesting women
George Pataki: Pro Gay rights, Pro Choice
Rudy Giuliani: Pro Gay rights, Pro Choice, adulterer, pro amnesty for immigrants
Don’t you think America should hear from the hate mongers like DeLay and Santorum?
One name you’ll NEVER hear mentioned even once, during this entire convention:
Osama Bin Laden.
Your post just proves how inclusive the Republican party truly is.
Where were the dems that went against the party platform at their convention? They were bound and gagged and pushed to the side.
At least we welcome those who disagree with our platform - more than can be said for the party of Michael Moore.
We even gave the keynote slot to a lifelong democrat. The best the dems could scare up for their convention was a johnny-come-lately son of a past president with self-esteem issues.
