Republican and African Americans

So white people have increased resilience to being bought through welfare programs why?

If the % is lower, would that not imply a fault with your “Dems bought poor people” logic? That either your base assumptions are wrong (where I land), or SOMETHING youre not accounting for?

Yup people spend waaay to much time praising lawyers, doctors, ect…but the guys that run big construction outfits or successful small biz get no props… if you live in a house or work in a building or shop… somebody had to build it

This is how the world works. It always has been. The US is not immune. We don’t have to like it, and we can try and fight it.

But the man that steps up to a fight with “principles” the other guy doesn’t have is setting himself up for a loss. May the best fear mongerer , mud slinger win.

How do you propose this gets fixed?

That something is the mistaken belief that Democrats care for their constituents. I never denied that. They talk a good game.

Just like those blue wall working class whites think Trump/populist republicans care about them. Politicians care about power, full stop.

Oh good. I was worried you were just going to toss out another assumption we had to buy into to accept your views of buying minorities.

Not directly at you (as I know many believe it), but thoughts like this remind me of Hillary’s deplorable comment, just the GOP flavor

Because WV is so progressive and/or has such a sizeable AA voting bloc, that Byrd couldn’t be elected again without repudiating his past? C’mon man.

It won’t because people, in general, prefer it that way.

Fun fact. WV isn’t even in the top 10 for lowest AA with like ~2% being black.

Also side note, after having lived in WV for a number of years and visiting family on a semi regular basis, it’s really shocking that WV has 2% AAs. No way I could hack it in WV as an AA, and they have it so much better than Hispanics in the state.

Yeah. I think that across the boards kids are deluded into thinking that they can be the next big awesome “thing”, when they have a way better chance of doing pretty damn well with a hammer and a square.

If any educated Joe homeowner can go outside right now and demonstrate actual working knowledge of " algebra 2" or the trig identities by building a safe and useable flight of stairs I would crap my pants.

Wanna “help the blacks”? Tell them that their dreams of being a rapper or a star in the NBA are about as plausible as a cow jumping over the moon, but that guy standing there on the paving crew with a stop sign is going to make $70k this year.

I think it’s hilarious (due to hypocrisy), but mostly sad to watch the response to Kanye’s tweets:

HE IS BEING BULLIED FOR HAVING DIFFERENT THOUGHTS …he is being called crazy, lunatic etc. simply because he is stepping out of line of the group think. Shouldn’t we encourage individuals to think for themselves? God for bid they might start doing well for themselves…Nah, let’s make people feel uncomfortable for not giving into the BRAINWASHING by the Mainstream.

This is toxic and tragic.

You don’t actually believe this, right?

Our cokhead maintenance tech at my last job built a flight of stairs for a 40" platform, the spacing on the treads? 10" > 9" > 6" > 7" >8"

It was like some sick carnival attraction (like jacobs ladder) where if you can make it to the top without banging your shins or tripping, you get $5.

I tried it, but Proprioception would not allow.

Actually, he’s been called these things for a long time–well preceding his foray into Trumpism.

I don’t want to. But look at Vietnam and our ME wars, or elections where someone tried to take the high road and just gets steam rolled.

If your ROE are more restrictive than your enemy’s, they will make you pay.

As far as politics goes, I think it’s naive to say unprincipled mudslinging and fear mongering doesn’t work. It very clearly does, around the world since forever.

I’m not advocating for acting like a tin pot dictator and pointing at some boogeyman to whip up your base. But if you’re going to defeat that type of person you need a candidate beyond reproach and serious game to win.

If someone has to say out loud: “Black people don’t have to be Democrats.” Maybe there’s an odd paradigm shift at work.

Maybe 2020 will be the year of the independents for president. I’m voting for that guy who created email.

Both are right, I would say

  1. Safety nets.
  2. Racism.

One would more likely favor safety nets if racism is perceived as an additional obstacle to self sufficiency.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how a Zeb is born

Of course he doesn’t - because if he did, he wouldn’t complain about Democrats doing it.

sure, and he is also being called it AGAIN FOR being Pro-Trump.

True. It’s unfortunate that in this day and age that to say “Hey I’m pro this” you get bashed.

But to say “you don’t have to be X” is much more acceptable.

As soon as you make a constructive and positive comment (saying you’re for something), you’re susceptible to criticism. but if you say “stay away” or “don’t” it’s much more acceptable. Very similar to how we vote “against” someone and not “for” someone.
