Religion Catch All

I’m not Christian…

So, the non Christian is trying to convert the Christians

How ironic

How so, expose them yes convert? To what? I don’t believe in anything

I do, however they’re Muslims in the same manner members of the Westboro Baptist Church are ‘christian’… or how the members of Lev Tahor are ‘Jewish’

The difference being the first two encompasses tiny groups and the Taliban runs an entire country. Still… the Taliban make up a very small minority of Muslims.

Was I talking to you? Can you not read?

You are not exposing anything…you are just arguing

The fact that they have deflected my original comment and turned it into a personal attack proves everything. Not that it needs proving since it’s long ago been proven that Christian’s are fucked in the head

All you are proving is that you are an angry troll

You’ve come in here and picked an argument with all those who may harbour opposing views to that of yourself.

You need to work on yourself… this is some seriously deranged behaviour.

Don’t you believe the latter two variables are more important? I assume you also enjoy attending mass though. Contrast that to someone such as myself who actually loathes the services… predominantly because I can’t understand a word of it so I just sit there/stand/whatever for three hours.

I like how it enables me to concentrate on something perhaps greater than myself, but aside from that it’s not for me. I also perhaps don’t believe a good portion of it ever happened as I have no physical proof to justify gods existence (in the manner described within scripture) and/or the events that unfolded within the Torah.

You go to maintain a relationship with God… am I correct? I think ‘god’ would forgive you if you miss an occasional church session to take care of your family and/or engage in activities that help you provide for your family.

I think you’re being unnecessarily harsh on yourself and/or potentially setting expectations that are impossible to meet. Unless you adopt the Christian lifestyle equivalent of an ultra orthodox Jew you aren’t going to be able to make every single event.

No one is perfect… except for @unreal24278, I hear he’s the best.

Do you consider Islam attractive in that the prospect of converting attracts you? Or you can see why others would be attracted to Islam?

Absolutely not.

Yes.

It is, just ask the Soviets. They were masters of the craft. Sure, she was indoctrinated, but you could make that argument about everybody. Everybody is indoctrinated by who they are surrounded by and their environment. That is precisely free speech and the transfer of information is so important, because at some point, people have to make up their own minds and not merely rely on the programing they received as a kid.
Everybody is indoctrinated, but too few are actually encouraged to seek and find information on their own and make up their own minds.
Now we have big tech and big media subverting the conversation, en masse, to make sure the plurality don’t have access to freely obtain information. One has to struggle to find it, to make up their own minds because it’s been made more difficult to find because of censorship and manipulation of the narrative.

Yes, I am fasting to an extent, significantly cutting down on what I eat during week days and not eating until mid afternoon. Sometimes I extend the fast on Fridays, and I do not eat meat, except fish, on Fridays.

What about you?

Do you got to a Novus Ordo church or are you a so-called Trad Cath?

Very similar to what ive been doing. Fast throughout the day. Half cup of white rice and a shake around 1pm. Light dinner around 7pm.

Well its been kind of a blend over the years. I moved to SC and there arent many options for catholic churches down here. The mass we currently attend is more traditional. Kneelers for the eucharist and they have a latin mass as well. My last parish in NY was a little more new order. They actually took kneelers off the pews entirely. The priest felt since some parishoners couldnt kneel we should all be a cohesive church and pray similarly. He would ask us to bow instead. It felt odd but i understood his reasoning. Great priest too. He actually married my wife and i at a completely different church outside the parish without question. His only downfall was being a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Whats really been tough on us is trying to attend mass with 2 small children, one of which is non verbal autistic. It often just ends up being my daughter and i while my wife andcson stay home.

How about you? Traditional?

Thanks for the response.

Yes it is hard with two small children, who I also have, a two year old daughter and a four year old son. Most of the time it is just me going. There is a crying room at my church which is very helpful.

Yes. I attend an SSPX chapel.

I first went to a modern one, and it is where I went to RCIA. Then I discovered SSPX and went down the whole rabbit hole of Vatican II. And it turned out there’s an SSPX chapel only a ten minute car ride from my house. It appears SSPX priests and bishops are hard-nosed, which is the style I prefer besides the actual Latin Mass. One of them who is no longer with the society had that old school fire-and-brimstone preaching, which I’ve only seen online from him.

Unfortunately i think a lot of problems the church faces now are from trying to modernize in all the wrong ways. You know the “lets make everyone feel good” message.

Do you ever watch Bishop Barron?

I’ve listened to him before.

The SSPX is very against modernism. Who its named after, St. Pius X, said modernists should be “beaten with fists,” though I don’t know if he meant that literally.

From what I have heard, he makes some good points. I have stayed away from those modernist elements and the ultra-traditional elements too. I can say this much, after covid, I can sit anywhere I want in the church. Unsurprisingly, a lot of people didn’t come back.

May I ask why it didn’t surprise you? I have seen a lot of things that were closed for Covid come back to life. My gym seems to be right about where it was pre Covid for example.
