Red Face

4 weeks into my test E cycle of 500mg/week I noticed an increased flushed face and also any kind of strenuous work would bring about an extremely flushed face and very warm to the touch. I donated a pint of blood and my symptoms have all but gone away. I am now in week 8.

That’s good to know. I hated walking around feeling like I had the face of an alcoholic.

Thanks Craig and fiveoh01,

I must admit I feel better knowing that other people are going through the same thing.

I’m Irish/English euro, whatever, and I would be white in the winter. I always have people asking me where I’ve been, like Florida or the islands.

And Craig, I’m glad to hear you gave blood and felt better. KNB told me to give that a shot. Really, the guys here are smarter than MDs.

And beings it’s the New Year, I am going on a major diet as I have put on at least 15 lbs, and it’s not muscle.

Thanks again guys and have a happy New Year.

Hey Bushy,

Here is something I read about polycythemia which tells me it’s a little more prevelant than I expected.

And Bushy, I can’t thank you enough for pointing me in this direction.

This guy recommends taking a break in TRT every 18mo or so for guys with this problem.
And he claims it remedies the problem.

I have been on trt for close to 3yrs and the last year on injectibles. Maybe I should look into giving myself a break. If I decide to, I will wait for hcg next week.

Has anyone taken a break from trt? And if so, what should I expect? I’m 55 and doing 120mg/wk and cutting to 80.

And LillGuy, don’t worry about me and the thread, I’m just happy to not be in the argument. LOL.
Scott

2 different sites I checked about polycythemia suggest a temporary withholding of trt.

What would you guys consider a “temporary withholding”?

Don’t mean to derail the thread, but should a person who’s donating blood for this reason mention anything about super-concentrations of anabolic steroids? I mean, I’d hate for a little girl to grow a mustache or something because she received my blood, lol.

older guy, please could you post a sample of a days diet, although it may bare little relevance in this case, it may be possible by adding or subtracting food to at least maybe ease your symptoms.

Hey Tom,

The holidays trashed my diet but yesterday I had a bowl of oatmeal, a banana, a chicken sandwich and yogurt with mandarin oranges. And some chocolate.

I have been eating some fatty foods, bacon and eggs, pizza, and a lot of crap. I really haven’t had that much of a desire to eat and I’m not really gaining any weight.

ok, cheers for that mate.
Now please dont charge into anything i suggest below until some of the more knowledgeable amongst this forum have read through it and give it a nod.

My first point is sugar, a diet high in sugar has been shown to lower affinity between test and shbg - great for a bodybuilder, specially one with a sweet tooth.

As you have mentioned though, you are not trying to build up, and your sex drive is down, so by first piece of advice would be that now the festivities have ended, drop the sugar down a few notches - you are eating fruit whic h is good, but maybe switch from fruits to veggies - sugar again i know but less of for same trade off in fibre.
Dependant on the type of ‘crap’ you have been eating over xmas, i.e sweets, cake etc, the additives in there may have aggravated the redness, i doubt caused it tbough, so without saying, try and steer clear of those.

Add some more protein to your diet from whole sources like eggs, preferably without cooking them in fat. The cholesterol and saturated fats in eggs are shown to increase natural test production too!

maybe steer clear of alchohol too if you have drank any xmas.

hope this helps,
