While I would agree that there are plenty of people who push an agenda in the name of God (EVERY religion, not just Christianity), you HAVE to see the hypocrisy in your argument here.
You say there is a burden of scientific proof required before something can be accepted. Fair enough BUT, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander my friend. In order to dislodge a belief that is based in ones own personal experiences, there MUST ALSO be that same burden of scientific proof required to DISPROVE what that person has learned based on personal experience.
This is a two way street brother and and you can’t require proof from one crowd, and blindly believe the other, I don’t care how well educated either group is. That’s hypocritical.
It’s also akin to the fear of what you cannot explain. Great leaders in old time held that same fear. There have been great people who have literally been burned at the stake for stating that the earth was round. The long held “scientific” belief of the time was that the earth was flat. We all know how that played out don’t we?
I tend to keep my TT right at the top, FT like 1.2x the top. Feel great
The theory of evolution + fossilized remains of our ancestors dating waaaaayyyy more than 6,000 years ago. However I don’t mind what other people believe so long as the agenda isn’t aggressively pushed. I won’t agressively push my agenda either unless I see someone trying to brainwash a bunch of young kids.
I’m not particularly knowledgeable on religion, I went to a Jewish school for a while and thus I have studied a bit of scripture and know the very basic concepts of religion. Interestingly most seem to be steeped in similar moral fundamentals, thus it baffles me as to why people fight over religion
You do know what the term “theory” means right? I know you do and that’s not a question of your intelligence. Hell you’re probably one of the most intelligent people I’ve interacted with.
The point is that there are plenty of “alternative” explanations, but they are ALL still just beliefs…not proven scientific facts.
And fwiw, carbon dating has an accuracy tolerance of ± 1 bazillion percent!!
Thank you for taking the time to give me your thoughts on how you think this works.
I don’t agree with them but hea that is what makes life interesting.
Hell the HRT doctors don’t even agree on how this all works so we are in good company.
