Log viper press 110lbs w/triples of 225(100kg) front squat between sets

Followed immediately by
50 pull aparts
25 pushdowns
20 standing ab wheels
40 reverse hypers
10 rounds of
5 chins (various grips)
5 dips
Notes:Named this one after a Gameboy game, inspired by the fact I came up with this due to my little toe taking burpees off the table. Flipped the script and made the front squats the static portion while the press climbed the tower. Weight selection was perfect for timing constraints, as 40 minutes was my cut off and I just barely made it in. Once again, you start off thinking it’s going to be too easy, and by the end you’re dying. Knew I found a winner when I wanted to find a place to lie down when it was over. Another bad idea in the books.
Daily work was the cherry on top. Once I got the chins and dips done I looked inside to see if I had anything left and I was done. Good way to start the day.
Working 2 12s in a row starting today, then a little downtime.
I guess if we had a better understanding of what drives their hate we could do away with the ubiquitous notion that they’re simply “gonna hate”.
I’ve had a few I’ve turned around by trying to have a legit dialog with them, but some just come out of the woodwork. Training can be like religion for some folks, and I’ve desecrated a LOT of holy grounds.
But enough about Mark Rippetoe…

@davemccright Yup! Spent many a roadtrip plowing through that game.
Some rambling thoughts on the way forward from here. Training is going decent and I’m too good at not eating. Just been nickle and diming things as I go, and I’m at the point where my hunger has significantly dropped. I’m cutting out dietary fats but still keeping some all stars around in the form of whole eggs and grassfed beef along with avocados. Learned my lesson from the last time. I’m crazy lean in the mornings and significantly less bloated in the evenings, and I’m willing to call this the “halfway point” of a 6 week diet break.
And so what does that mean going forward? I don’t want to do what I did last time and just cut fat indefinitely. This initially started as a weight cut for a comp that I’ve since scrubbed so I can belt test in Tang Soo Do. Once again, the inconvenience of Strongman tends to outweigh the joy I get out of it, and I may just quit worrying about weight classes in general.
I struggle mentally with fat loss, and not because of difficulty (it’s easy) but because I’m not “building”. It’s very unfulfilling. Meanwhile, phases of weight gain are outstanding mentally, but can be poor for me physically when pushed too far.
I’m thinking of co-opting structured phases of training for the foreseeable future. And with Deep Water being such an awesome protocol, I’m honestly thinking of just doing 12 weeks on/6 weeks “off” by running Beginner and Intermediate followed by some manner of 5/3/1 5s pro/FSL widowmakers. Allows me time to push hard, eat big, then ease off, take a break, and still handle heavy weights here and there.
If nothing else, this training idea excites me, and that’s always a big deal.

(I believe I said this before but I am a student org president. The org is based on my major. I just want to reach out to these young men and women. We are having a kick-off meeting in the next couple of weeks and this org is amazing)

“Lead by example” is the best thing I can espouse. Be what people want to be and they will do what they need to do. People like to see someone that can walk the walk.
