Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

AM WORKOUT (0530 wake up via dog) Fasted

50 burpees
50 mountain climbers
25 burpees
50 air squats
25 burpees
50 push ups
50 mountain climbers
10 air squats

Notes: Just throwing stuff at the wall when I get up before the family. Workout ended when I heard my mother-in-law coming down the stairs. Been eating off menu every day and my guts are rebelling. Still getting in my yogurt every day, but next time I travel like this I might look into packing digestive enzymes or probiotics.

PM WORKOUT (1700)

1 burpee
1 single armed KB snatch per arm
*add a rep each round, after 5 rounds, start over

3 ladders done with 80lb vest (16:55)

From there, strip off the vest, start over and go for max

Finished the burpees on the 9th round at 27:55, at which point my wife finished her run and my workout was over.

Which is good, because my heart felt like it was going to explode.

Any good tips on the KB snatch? I love the move but find I tend to bang up my arm after awhile.

There’s a way to do it without banging up your arm? Haha.

There is, in fact, a way to do them without banging up your arm - on cleans and snatches.

Disclaimer: this is for @dietdrfapper. I know whose log this is, haha.

I’ll say it’s a cool technique with a great explanation and worth a watch, even if you do decide to ignore it, though.

@flappinit I love how much you get me, haha.

PM WORKOUT (1400)

100 six count burpees in 80lb vest

Time: 16:23

300 alternating one armed KB swings (150 swings per arm)

Notes: Couldn’t do Murph this year, so came up with something awful to still feel that misery. The after feels very similar: like I just finished swimming against an ocean current for a few hours. Standard has been set and now I can try to overcome this sometime.

God you always have to raise the bar you son of a gun

Superb effort my man. You push me to the limit.

Let’s get a burpee zoom session arranged

Appreciate it dude. I am no good with schedules, haha

@T3hPwnisher you may have mentioned it in previous posts, but any reason for the apparent pigeon toed stance during the burpees on this vid?

Smashing it as always. Inspiring and scary all at the same time…

Appreciate it man. That is pretty much my deadlift stance. I find it easier to recover from the floor into a jump from there.

Not much left of the trip. Have eaten out literally every single day. Making good choices, but the result is UNDEReating as I don’t want to get the majority of my nutrients from junk carbs and poor fat sources. Gone through a LOT of peanut butter, grassfed beef jerky and other staples. Been going prison style with the bodyweight work: get it in where you can when you can as much as you can. Lots of push ups. Chins on an I-beam REALLY suck.

I got 10 weeks left of Deep Water and I’m already thinking of where training is going to go from there. Smart play is to get back on SVR II. Since I’m not smart, DoggCrapp has been calling out to me again. With my Ironmasters inbound, I actually have a pretty solid opportunity for that program now. I’d, of course, run my conditioning straight into the ground while doing it. However, I also feel like I need some time to drop cals and reset my metabolism, because right now the way I need to eat while gaining is getting to be pretty nuts. My annual physical is coming up, wherein my blood lipids will be taken again, so maybe I’ll just wait for that feedback before I decide on anything.

Do it

This is a good way to talk me out of something, haha.

Don’t do it man.

On second thought, I realize what I should have said above is: you can’t do it, man.

Nah, my misanthropy makes it that I never feel the need to prove myself to others, haha.

PM WORKOUT (1500)

3 mile run with the Mrs

KB workout

Just gonna narrate this. I took my 45lb bell and clean and strict pressed each rep. I did 1 rep, switched hands, did 1 rep, switched hands, did 2, switched hands, did 2, etc etc, up to 10, never setting the bell down. Did it in 9:24. Had me breathing hard at the end and blew up the shoulders pretty solid. I liked it. My hands are getting a little chewed up from my cheap kettlebell but nothing terrible. I’ve really appreciated all the time I’ve had to play with the bell and get creative. I’m thinking of getting another one at this point, or possibly an adjustable one. Cleaning each rep adds an awesome element of suck to this workout, and it’s a lesson I’ve learned recently. Really appreciating how ā€œathleticā€ it makes me feel.

I’m not logging all the training I’m doing, as I’m just grabbing little microworkouts where I can. Got to In n Out today. That was pretty awesome.

How heavy are you going with those and what is your current setup? I saw Ironmasters had extensions to get them up to 165 each!

I was able to secure the 120 add on. I’ll BOLO for the 160s.
