Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

Came close-ish! Brain was firing just fine, but the body was drunk, haha.

This is what is being missed with all the ā€œhow do youā€ or ā€œthat’s not possibleā€ stuff.

That was great to watch as an example of what pushing to failure looks like.

Lots of stuff being missed there man, not just the workload. There’s definitely a serious communication breakdown.

Halfway through that set I was getting tired just from watching it.

I love the dogged determination throughout your set. You don’t let the weight win and I love that mentality!

@jdm135 100%. A few pull ups done daily just isn’t going to be that big a deal, haha.

@caesium32 Thanks man. ALMOST failure. I still racked it. It’s honestly rare I ever get to push myself until I can’t. But it’s ALSO why I tell people NOT to leave a few reps in the tank. Most folks tend to naturally do that anyway when they THINK they’re going as far as they can, so now when they are actively doing that, they’re leaving like 7 reps in the tank. Push until you break: you’ll be shocked how far that is, haha.

@dagill2 Yup. Same words: different languages.

@Tougher Your eyes probably went anabolic at least, haha.

@davemccright Thanks man. High reps are definitely my game.

PM WORKOUT (1300)

Incline treadmill walk w/80lb vest
3 mph

Notes: Started at a 6 and went up half a degree every 10 minutes, finishing at 7.5. Just staying active.

Meant to comment earlier, but those vipers for every single rep on the presses are pretty legit. I’ve really enjoyed taking my presses from the floor this training block. It adds a great element to the training.

Quit hoarding all the squats man, save some gains for the rest of us.

Not going to lie, I swear I had a leg and low back pump after watching it. It was like I was making gains through osmosis.

You’re an animal lol.

I agree with you but man I literally cannot do this with squats. My form breaks down if I really want to destroy myself. Last sets I did at RPE 9-10 (this week and the previous) I was bending too much forward because of the fatigue on the last reps, I could feel being a bit off balance and it was all going to my lower back… Not in the best way

I almost didn’t want to say failure because I had a feeling you would say that haha. Totally agree about stopping way too short of it though, I was going to say a similar thing until I read the second half of your reply. I don’t think I’ve actually managed to reach muscular failure on a lower body lift yet, my mind always gives up first.

My old ā€œcoachā€ always recommended me not to go past ā€œtechinical failureā€ ie when form goes bad… but…
I find that I hit ā€œtechinical failureā€ 3-5 reps before I hit muscular ā€œfailureā€ (ie mental failure), which is certainly at least 2 reps away from true failure.

You can always do one more squat. Repeat every rep until you’re done.

That would depend on the intent of the set though, surely? You aren’t going to try and take Sheiko sets to failure.

Definitely not… sheiko doesn’t call for AMRAP sets and is very intentionally sub max

That was ballsy, every rep after 25 looked like the last for most people. Respect.

That set looked brutal…awesome

@mr.v3lv3t It’s nuts. Out of nowhere I can squat. Pulls just need to come back.

@aldebaran Thanks man! I find the secret is to start off with bad form so you don’t have as far to fall, haha.

@caesium32 It’s the same way I say I don’t know what my max is. I almost NEVER want to discover that full potential. Far less limiting. It’s tough to push to that point too, like you say. I’ve done it a few times, but it’s rare.

@gnomo Thanks man. I don’t have much for self-preservation instincts, haha.

@bigdaddi Much appreciated dude!

AM WORKOUT (0455 wake up via dog) Fasted

100 six count burpees
Time: 5:26 (12 second PR)

Notes: 2 huge PRs there. Beat my time, and I did it by doing all 100 burpees unbroken, meaning at no point did I ever stop moving to catch my breath or reset. I definitely was moving SLOW at the end, but never stopped. It SUCKED. I was ready to stop at around rep 30. Definitely feeling that widowmaker from yesterday, but it’s why I slot in this as something of a feeder workout. Plan to get in the prowler today as well, as I work a 12 tomorrow.

Been getting some good sleep these past few nights. Think body is getting in a good state. Had a solid cheat meal yesterday at a Mexican spot we did. Got 3 shrimp and crab filled enchiladas with refried beans and rice. Beans and rice are the OG protein superfood. I betrayed my heritage a bit going with the seafood vs traditional cuisine, but I’m also a Mexican food elitist and wanted to try something a bit off menu to not be as dissapointed. Once again, it was nice to use the cheat meal more as an opportunity to enjoy my family’s company than just focus on stuffing myself. Only had about half the beans and rice: enough to enjoy the flavor of it. Relationship with food is doing a lot better. I’m taking my kiddo out for dinner tonight as well while the Mrs gets a haircut, and finding myself not nearly as stressed about the ordeal as I used to get.

I’ve never heard of crab enchiladas, what kind of sauce do they put on it? And is there cheese?
