Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

Yep. Every night shift was a reason to get drive through. Every “bad day” needed a pizza to recover from. Suddenly everything above about a 0.5 on the Richter scale is a reason to break dietary rules.

I don’t believe this to be a genuine question.

@dagill2 nailed it. Too easy a trap.

Totally. I’ve dramatically reduced my alcohol consumption since late last year, from easily drinking 2 or 3 beers each evening to maybe 2 drinks in the past 7 ir 8 days. But for a while I was saying, "oh the kids are stressing me out, or I had a tough day at work, so I deserve a drink to wind down ".
But that is a very easy trap, because every day you can find an excuse if you want one.

Dude, that’s bumper sticker stuff right there. Too damn true. And it goes the other way too: every day you can find a chance to be better. It’s a choice each and every time.

I used to use a phrase at work “if you do it for a good reason, soon you’ll do it for a bad one”.

Anticipation is greater part of pleasure.

About the only quote I remember from my English studies, definitely feels true for a lot of things, junk food is always one of those!.

It’s a very true quote. It’s much like the letdown of the holidays. Halloween and Christmas both get to me each year, because it’s SUCH a huge build up for about 2 hours of activity. At least with Thanksgiving there are leftovers, haha.

That might actually be one example that the reverse is true, my joy comes post dinner and presents when all the stress is gone and I get to just enjoy time with family and friends (and my bloated stomach), I actually enjoy boxing Day more most of the time for that reason (and the fact I don’t cook on boxing Day!)

I’m the opposite (most likely as a result of my almost inability to feel stress): all the music, lights, decorations, seasonal treats, etc etc, ramp up to a moment that just can’t live up to the hype. Having a kid has helped though: I get to re-live the magic through them.

Looks great. Throwing any condiments on there?

I put some Frank’s red hot on it this morning, but most likely just going with salt tomorrow.

Probably should have logged the afternoon workout too, haha.

Got axle Grace done in 2:59. 1 second above my PR, but my 3rd ever sub 3 time. Really awesome.

For sure, before I fully appreciated time off work and time with family, I got past childhood and didn’t find much fun at all in Christmas, it definitely lost its magic, but having my own kids and passing on and watching them discover the joy of Christmas is awesome.

I dig this. Echoing similar thoughts here too of late. No addiction, but knowing what we can put into a dish to fuel the body.

I read somewhere you can mash it up and freeze them into balls. Perfect for reuse. Could be an option - especially if you’re mashing them into meals anyways? Shame to waste such a tasty food source. Plus saves a few $$$.

Appreciate the suggestion dude. I am good for now. Don’t like dealing with thawing food out, haha.

They aren’t always mashed though: just for those quick meals.

Finished up the day with a 50 minute 80lb hill walk

That looks awesome. I’ve been making these breakfast egg muffin things which are pretty convenient, but nothing really says breakfast like over easy eggs. Do you just pop the whole mix in the microwave? If so, does that mess with the eggs at all?

Me and you both, buddy!

These are my go to “reset” treats, like if you have to calm a dog down by distracting it with a goodie, but I do it to myself after the rush of the world and everything in it is done and I need to sit down and be internally quiet.

Thanks man. I cook the eggs in a microwave egg cooker ahead of time and mix it all together. From there I CAN microwave the whole thing or just eat it cold.
