Wasn’t entirely clear, I wouldn’t do the swap on all weeks. I used a regular powerbar on Widowmaker-day. I’ve had that twisting thing happen when before, but I thank you for highlighting it. I think subconciously I’ve decided to use those implements on sets where I won’t get twisted, I don’t see any reason to expose my spine to that. If I were a strongman, then yeah, I’d need to practice not having that happen on me but I’m not so.

The practice started out as a work-around for some tendonitis in the elbow, I didn’t want to do 5x10 (or 10x5) on the back squat as it’s my belief from experience with my body that a single Widowmaker set would be far more benign than 50 reps, no matter how they were done. But, I do not want to abandon the back squat if I can help it.

As I’m still in Week 2, I’m figuring this out as a I go. I only swapped back squat for BBS front squats on Week 2, while doing the 65/75/85% as back squats. And then for SSL week I’ll do Zercher squat I think.

I figured I could do the same with “trap-bar” (read: farmer’s handle) deads again this week. Even though I’ve “figured out” a TM, I still want to do a couple of sets (at least 5) to merit the effort of setting those up. So, trying it out today. BBB style.

Half-jokingly I’ve been internally thinking that I’m making SVR-II into SVR-III, because SVR-II simply does not have enough training ADD.

Ah, I interpreted you to use the farmers handles at the same spot where I had the trap bar slotted. I thought about how I’d wrangle the squat if I were to do it, and it boiled down to SSB on the PR/widowmakers, since it tolerates a LOT of degrade, then buffalo bar for the BBB work and front squats for the SSL day, assuming I wanted to do front squats. Otherwise, buffalo bar on the SSL day too. That squat just makes me stronger all over, whereas the SSB tends to make me just a better deadlifter.

For @kleinhound as well. I watched a bit of the new All Elite Wrestling a few days ago after the Celtics game. Holy cow was it bad. Comically bad. Chris Jericho is still in the game and he looks awful. He was wearing a bandana around his neck and I believe it was to hide the fact that he has no semblance of a chin anymore.

PM WORKOUT PART II (2100)

100 six count burpees done in 8:22

Notes: Schedule was compressed and SVR II week 1 sounded like a solid approach for the day. Think I’m ready to pull the trigger on it for my deadlift for the time being, because nothing is really working well and I may as well do something else. Using a TM of 85% of 700lbs, and based on reps that might be a bit light, but I’m also just good at pulling high reps vs singles. These were solid efforts. Next few weeks will use more super/giant setting to get in all the assistance work, but it was good to be done so quick in my training.

Had enough time for a little more conditioning this evening, so did the 100 burpees. Always a good challenge.

Good to see you sticking to low reps on these. I think I read somewhere that high rep deadlifts lead to early onset amnesia and then death !!
Hope you and the family has a great Christmas mate.

Appreciate it dude. I remember reading that high rep deadlifts were dead a while ago…and that lifters over the age of 30 need to “get real”…maybe I’ll learn one day.

On that note, Jim says widowmakers are cut off at 20 reps, so I’m screwing everything up, haha.

Mate you are doing your thing and doing it well. You just need to publish your own ebook and then everything you do will be totally acceptable. Lmao

It’s a shame Jon Andersen already wrote it before I got a chance, haha.

Lol true true. My version of that book would be more like shallow puddle than deep water !

Got in my daily work and some tabata burpees before start of night shift. Will be squatting when I get home, so packed some extra food. I’ve been undereating again. Really need 2021 to roll around and get back on the gain train. I’ve got SO much food in my freezer to get through. Family still hasn’t adapted to my intake either: leftovers are lasting FOREVER in the fridge and we’re having “leftover night” so frequently to try to work through the excess.

On other parts of the nutrition front: figured out my digestion issues were, once again, a result of the re-development of almond sensitivity. I went from having almond butter every other night to every night and over the course of a few weeks things went to hell. Finally figured it out last night where there was a near instant reaction when I ate some. Was trying to mix up my fat sources between almonds and peanuts, but now I’ll be sticking with the peanut butter until the guts get sorted out.

Notes: Still digging how well this is going. Finding this workout to be the one I look forward to the most, just based on it’s progression. Also why I’m not really to fully pull the trigger on a full on program change: gotta capture this lightning in a bottle. Bodyweight still low, so I’m hitting huge numbers here for me.

You counted reps!

Every time. I just logged it this time, and the previous time.

Haha, I want to write you some nut butter related suggestions but I just feel like you’d shrug it off and be happy enough with peanut butter right now >_<

You know me  I have like $300 of Nuts n More spreads in the house, so I’m more than good. It’s not the lack of access that limits me: it’s falling into habit.
