That doesn’t take much IMO. Cicis taste like marinara on cardboard around these parts.
I mean more in terms of environment vs flavor, haha. Higher caliber would have been better put.
I was daydreaming the other day about the pizza I used to buy at lunch in middle school. I think it was called fiestada pizza and it was cut into octagons with fake meat and taco sauce instead of tomato sauce.
Edit: just to bring this full circle, I do not discriminate about pizza quality. I think it’d be very difficult to make a pizza I wouldn’t want to eat.
@boilerman School cafeteria pizza was the best! We had the one that was rectangular cut. The sauce was SO sweet. Had to be pure sugar, haha. My middle school was subsidized by pizza hut too, so the rich kids would eat personal pan pizzas, while us scrubs ate our rectangles. I’m so excited that my kid gets to enjoy that experience now, but they have far better taste than I do. Probably why they aren’t a fat kid like I was, haha.
And I’m the same way: total low class pizza fan. I feel like I’m one of the few humans that genuinely enjoys Sbarros. That stuffed pizza was one of my many nutritional downfalls…
Started the day off with a 0500 wake up and hitting up Fran. Didn’t take time: just needed to move, because I was moving like I was about a billion years old and needed to get my body moving through space. Been beating the absolute hell out of myself and it’s showing.
Run got put off: Mrs had a work emergency. Went for a 45 minute weighted vest walk on the treadmill. Started at a 5 incline and speed 3, and this time I just dorked around with the incline until I was at 7.5 at the end. Great challenge while keeping things on the lighter side.
Took my heart rate old school style at the end with a stopwatch and my hand on my neck and clocked in 60 beats per minute. That…doesn’t seem right. I’ve been doing a LOT of cardio and conditioning, but still. Going to see if I can get an accurate resting heart rate sometime later.
Yes! I remember the rectangle pizza too! It was always either stale or over cooked so the bottom was super crunchy and the cheese was hard. You’d take off the entire top of the pizza if you didn’t bite through well enough haha.
I was completely unaware that fast food chains were allowed to sell their products in schools. That is nuts!
I forgot all about that! We were the original keto kids: we’d take off the cheese from the pizza in one big chunk and just eat that and throw away the bread. It was the “good stuff” anyway, haha.
And yeah, lotta schools have contracts with pepsi and stuff like that. Gotta love government contracts.
Weather is rolling in and it may become a frozen pizza night, but that’s just fine too. We’ll see how tomorrow shakes out. Tonight was grass fed piedmontese beef stew, and it was AWESOME. Made some solid leftovers too.

There is some wierd inequality between moving your body through space and replicating that action via ex. bike or treadmill.
I did a stress/echo with a 12 lead ekg test in the spring to measure my overall cardiac fitness and pumpy stuff. To hit my max heart rate we had to go through like 10 cycles of increasing speed and elevation until I was like doggedly sprinting my ass off up hill on the tread mill all while watching my hr barely tick up.
Something just gets lost in translation.
My high school in England had the exact same pizzas. I used to eat one of those every morning and a pasta pot with cheese and some sort of tomato sauce on every week day. It’s pretty cool we had such similar experiences even in different countries.
I don’t remember anything from my canteen except the pink finger donuts, so greasy a gentle squeeze and they’d drip, loved those things (still do!). Not sure I ever ate anything but sweet from the canteen - giving teenagers nutritional options that include donuts and expecting them to buy anything but junk…
I remember that at our school kids with low income families for meal tickets to get what ever the meal
Of the day was. I used to take a packed lunch and would swap a chocolate biscuit for a kids meal ticket so I could eat a hot lunch as well as my sandwiches… I’ve always been a greedy git.

@Caesium32 How funny! Those shared experiences are awesome. It’s amazing how much food and drink can bring people together. It’s actually one of the things I do regret about my abstinence from alcohol: missing that shared experience. But I make up for it with my junk food knowledge, haha.
@alex_uk Absolutely. We had a salad bar at our school that was basically a crouton and ranch dressing delivery mechanism. Can’t trust kids to not eat like kids. And then they turn into adults…

Notes: 90 seconds rest between giant sets. Still feeling solid in these workouts. Would love to see a bit more growth, but gotta accept the little PRs, especially since bodyweight isn’t doing much. Didn’t time Fran: it was a buttkicker as it was and I didn’t need the pressure. That small PR on the dips was a big victory.
Physique “update” in that I look pretty much the same, but that bodes well considering how much more I am eating compared to where I was at “the bottom”

How much do you weigh there? You shooting for a specific number or just “bigger without pissing off my doctor”?
No idea what my bodyweight is. I don’t like weighing myself these days. I imagine still high 170s/low 180s. I just need my doc to concur that I don’t need statins and then I would like to get back to the low 190s. I did my best there.

@simo74 Much appreciated. After finding out my log was being used to justify disordered eating, I’m trying to model things a bit better and celebrate the necessary bodyfat I’ll be putting on too. Being lean was cool, but full disclosure is that’s been rough on my body. It’ll be good to have some fat on me.

Notes: 3:00 between max effort pulls. I flat out did NOT want to train today. Last thing on my to do list. Made the promise to myself to cut out the deficit deadlift set to make things go faster. The PR was smooth, and I may have had some more in me, but I shut it down to end on a victory. I think it goes to show that I came into last week fatigued, which makes sense with the 301 rep set. Got an awesome pump otherwise, possible a result of the carbs and salt from the pizza last night. Right elbow has been feeling a little junky the past few days. Left hip a little buggy now.
Got my Spud Inc single ply starter briefs. Tried them on and I think they’ll answer the mail for what I need. Just some extra hip support. Not sure when they’ll make an appearance, but good to have.
