Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

It might help with hypertrophy too. Occlusion training/Kaatsu training/Blood flow restriction (BFR) might be things to read up on further if you are curious.

Do these have the vinegar infused burn like the fluid?

Not that I noticed, but I take all my supplements at once (5 fish oil, 2 glucosamine, 1 lipitor and now the 2 capsules) so nothing really stands out.

I didn’t even know there were tablets. I’ve just taken a shot of the stuff when my digestive system is jacked up. It might be worse than liquor.

I think you’re supposed to dilute it so that it doesn’t damage your esophagus and teeth!

Not sure what happens to the health benefit but it’s nice to cook with. ACV, pot, onion, simmer for ages → onion melts.

Costco to the rescue again, haha.

Sam’s carries them as a gummy last time I was there

No idea if they are worth taking, but at this point I’m just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. I’m going batty without competition.

Date night was a blast. The steak was…awful. I don’t think I’m ever going to order a filet mignon again. I can cook a better steak myself. But the twice baked potato was phenomenal, and we had sauteed artichoke hearts with a parmesean crisp for an appetizer. They were perfect: flavorful but not filling. Had some red velvet gelato for dessert. As for ax throwing, I took to it much faster than I anticipated based off my total lack of coordination. Most likely was able to tap into my viking/half-orc heritage. Many bullseyes over the span of an hour of throwing. Right shoulder was a little sore after that, but feeling good this morning. Started the day with 11 GHRs and 34 NG chins.

Going to get my labs done on Friday. After they come back, it will be time to execute a new plan. Not sure what it will be, but it will be something.

As a general rule, if I go out I only order stuff I don’t cook myself because too often I feel I can get close enough to not warrant the price. Then again, I’ve come to understand eating out is cheaper in the US than here. With the exception of fast food a meal at a restaurant will be at least 4-5 times as expensive as a home cooked one made with ingredients from a delicacy store.

This place definitely wasn’t cheaper, haha. I’ve just been eating chicken and fish so much at this point that I thought some red meat would really hit the spot. I imagine if I went real bold and got the ribeye or the porterhouse it mighta been worthwhile. The filet was the only thing at a reasonable portion size unfortunately, but hopefully soon I can up those sizes a touch.

On that note, my labs got moved to Tuesday, so even better.

Is it weird that I am excited to see your blood results? (I’m half expecting a sizable change, but recognise that your genetic predisposition might prevent that).

Not weird at all: I’m a living case study, haha. If NOTHING changes, then at least I can just go back to how I was doing things and not sweat it, so that would be cool. But I’m also hoping to see something significant. I’ve been about as compliant as one could possibly be as far as lifestyle and medication goes.

Literally came up with this idea walking to the bathroom at work and wanted to get it down.

For my upcoming deadlift training, I’m thinking about mixing things up. It’s starting to dawn on me that, as far as max effort work goes, each cycle I look forward to the trap bar and just gut out the barbell. I can really do max effort stuff with the trap bar, but the barbell is just beating me down. In addition, the best barbell deadlift method protocol I’ve ever employed was ROM progression using touch and go for reps in the 6-15 range. I was never one for singles.

I started using max effort last year because I had just moved houses and had dropped some bodyweight in the process. I didn’t want to keep doing ROM progression because I knew my numbers would be down, and instead I wanted to employ a method that allowed for good and bad days. It’s served it’s purpose, but I also know that ROM progression always grew my deadlift, while ME just grew my ability to strain (very helpful none the less).

I’m going to attempt to combine the two. Plan is to alternate every week between the methods. Do ROM progression for the main work on week 1 with 6 mats, then trap bar ME week 2 off the floor, ROM progression week 3 with 5 mats, trap bar ME week 4 off the floor, 4 mats, trap bar off 1 mat, etc etc, eventually getting the deadlift to the floor and the trap bar on about 3-4 mats of elevation before starting over again.

Debating on if I want to use the texas deadlift bar or the axle for the ROM progression. Whichever I pick, I plan to include chains, as that always seems to fit in well with the ROM progression approach.

Supplemental work is going to stay about the same. Only difference will be that now I’ll be rotating deadlift style of supplemental work each week, as I’m lazy and don’t want to switch bars between main and supplemental work.

On the nutrition front, I think I’m going to keep the ACV in the evenings before sleep and I’ll also take it before my high carb meal on squat/deadlift days. Seems to coincide with what I’ve seen for instructions.

I like alternating that way. You can be more recovered and ready for workouts without having to completely stay away from the weights to rest. It’s like cheating.

Getting your nod on it means a lot dude, so thanks for that. I’m hoping I’ve stumbled onto something good. I’ve been missing ROM progression, and trying to sneak it in with my ME work, but I think it needs to come back in full form.

You were reading about Doggcrapp before if short term memory serves. Both DC and FT (Fortitude Training) are predicated on having A, B, C lifts that are cycled through. Cycling through methods (ROM progression/ME) echoes that a little so it’ll be interesting to see how it works for you!

I definitely liked that back when I ran it. Still set my best ever bench press using DC, and then promptly never did it again. The whole Dan John ā€œProgram was so good I stopped using itā€ thing, haha.

I’ve missed this but it sounds very Dan John! I like it!

Yup, think that’s what makes the results more exciting, I doubt there are many (if any) who would have been so stringent with the compliance, should be interesting results. My dad lowered his fairly well without medication a year or two back (lowish carbs, no processed foods, all Mediterranean style food cooked in olive oil along with lots of omega 3’s and nuts) - so I’m guess your diet in combo with meds should really yield decent results.

I’ve got a full blood work in the next week or so, I get to see how much damage the last few months of awful eating has done (like the reverse of you!).
