Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

@dagill2 @T3hPwnisher yeah, it does really seem to weird people out. For several years my lunches consisted exclusively of ground beef, white rice and veggies and coworkers found it almost appalling.

Wife has been a vegetarian for two years, and we still haven’t quite figured out how to gastronomically coexist.

I don’t even try to coexist. Apart from the Sunday roast, I eat totally different, meal prepped foods. Different ones every week, because I still enjoy food, but I don’t even try and factor anyone else into the equation anymore.

I think this must be more of a guy thing. Before my wife, I ate the same thing all the time. It was cheap. Turkey burger sloppy joes with baked sweet potatoes…all the time. Now I eat the same thing at work for lunch spinach with 2 chicken breasts or 2 burger patties on top with jalapenos and olives. She never ever would do that. Looks at me in disgust when she thinks about it. But I don’t mind the variety its just the ease of eating the same same and knowing what you are getting.

@TX_iron and @dagill2 I ate the exact same lunch everyday I was in highschool. 2 PBJs, a tin of fruit, a bottle of water and…something else. I actually forget now, haha. EDIT: just remembered: it was a protein bar. Real nasty one from Costco. And the best part was, I looked forward to it everyday. I still love PBJs, haha. It’s so hard for me to get burnt out on food.

The co-existing thing is always tough. With my wife being the distance runner and me the strength athlete, things get interesting. I always just make lots of carby sides that I have no intention of eating whenever I cook.

@zeptrey It’s funny, because I actually get the tendency from my mom. She’ll eat the same thing everyday wit h zero issue, whereas my dad is always looking for some variety. I’m with you though: I like not having to think about what the next meal is going to be.

Just for some fun, while I’m taking all these vanity shots, I got 2 photos about 11 months apart that show the difference of about 4lbs of bodyweight at what appears to be similar levels of bodyfat.

Can definitely see the impact from all the pressing on my shoulders and traps, and my lats seemed to poke through a bit more.

Meh, I enjoy eating the same thing all the time. I’ve literally eaten the same breakfast for 5 years

I do think breakfast is different. Nobody wants to worry about breakfast. Even my picky wife eats either oatmeal or eggs…that’s about it.

What does the non-picky wife eat?

I also eat basically the same lunch and dinner. My parents say I’m boring, but I prefer “consistent”.
I do cook and plan meals for them, so I make an effort to keep their meals varied

I would say lunch is different too. Happy to eat the same lunch everyday too. But i get unhappy if my dinners are always the same. About 5 days in a row is my limit.

I would say your shoulders definitely seem broader. Probably that clavicle lengthening surgery. Shall I do a body fat percent/shoe joke?

This reminds me of the first time my wife left me on my own to go visit family and I made tacos for dinner so many nights in a row my dog eventually quit begging for them.

Good question. Eggs in her oatmeal?

My mom isn’t picky, so I make her french toast variations, toast a bagel, pancakes, or if I have time, something nice like muffins or bread pudding

I was more just razzing him on language with that one.

If I was eating something good like tacos or pizza, I reckon that could last several weeks for sure.

When I was “under pressure” let’s say, a few years ago, every meal I cooked myself was 2 pizzas and a packet of doughnuts.

You look like an action figure!

Thanks dude!

You deff won’t get through airport security scans now :joy:

Everybody knows you’re unbelievably strong. You just like showing off your stomach.

Enjoy it while your hormones hold up.

@simo74 Oh geez, it’s been so long since I’ve flown I forgot all about that. I’ll have to be on the lookout, haha.

@biker Absolutely. It’s how I’ve always lived my life. I’m going to enjoy the stages of life that I can enjoy when I can enjoy them. Should I live to reach old age, I’m going to greatly enjoy being grandfatherly, eating good food, reading good books, and not being concerned with maximizing my physical ability.
