Like my handle on here?
To be fair, I think you are exercising a couple of centimeters extra rom compared to Kroc there. He seems to meet the bar with his chin, meanwhile you do no such thing and dip the bar down below to maybe your trachea.
(I still consider both performances strong)
Oh yeah, itās a substantially longer ROM. At the time, Krocās performance was mindblowing to me, but the further along I get and the further I separate myself from it, the less so it is.
But then I factor that Kroc was benching 700+ in a short and 500ish raw and it lets me know that pressing overhead doesnāt always mean everything, haha.
I should probably not go down to my collarbones on each rep. Might finally get some not sucky numbers.
That feels like the opposite of getting stronger.
Well, in my case thatād probably be true as my sticking point isnāt around that part. But otherwise, if you were weak of the chest with the military press and you get the same benefit from going down to your Adamās apple while being able to lift significantly more weight I donāt see the argument for going down to the collarbones unless you have a strict press goal.
And even in my case, since Iām weak at the top 3/4 of the motion overloading that part might rid me of the weakness.
Yeah. Easier to spell/remember and fits you.
I appreciate the sentiment. The early 2000s vibe of my name is unendearing, haha, but itās how people know me here. Be confusing to change at this point.
Agreed. Iām just fooling with you because you wonāt paint your gym walls.
It always takes me like 5 guesses to get your name when I try to tag you in. Lol I think my memory may be going !
@simo74 The intentional typo doesnāt help, haha. Early 2000s L337speak.
My legs are tremendously sore today. Program continues to be effective in that regard. That said, yesterday, at work, I caught myself hoping that my competition would get canceled over the Corona virus. Thereās still a chance of that, but I think thatās the clearest sign Iāve had in a while that Iām done with the sport. I had a competition canceled on me once, and THAT devastated me. I was pissed off for days, and ever since then, every time Iād see an update for a competition, Iād be worried it was another announcement of it getting canceled. Now Iām at the point where Iām hoping that will happen. Something changed.
If itās still on by April, Iām gonna do it, just because Iāve already built up for it, paid my fees, etc etc, but after that, itāll be time to take a step back. Iāve only got a few events left on my strongman bucketlist, and thatās most likely the only thing that will bring me back.
From the sport or lifting?
Just the sport. I never lifted for strongman: I did strongman to get stronger with my lifting.
Which begs the question will much change with your lifting? Youāve said previously that you donāt enjoy the actual training side of it either from what I remember, curious to see how you change things if you do change them.
Thatās the thing: for a while now I havenāt been training for the competitions. I have just been training the way I need for my own goals. Nothing about my current training really says āstrongman trainingā.
But that also most likely points to how the sport has grown away from where I want it to be.
From what I see your training mostly says masochist!
A masochist likes pain though. I hate this stuff, haha.
You say that but you keep doing it, sure some part of you must derive some pleasure out of it?
Negative. I like the results, and this is what I need to do to get them. In much the same way I like having healthy teeth but donāt like brushing them. If I could not brush and have healthy teeth, I wouldnāt brush, much like if I couldnāt train and could still be big and strong, I wouldnāt train.
How will dropping competition affect your workouts?
