Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

Natty status: questionable

It’s why I always specify ā€œdrug freeā€ when people ask if I’m natural. ā€œNaturalā€ itself is a stupid term, as pretty much training itself is unnatural. I’ve had people get upset that I was using protein and creatine and referring to myself as natural, so I just avoid that idea.

because you used protien and creatine? That is ridiculous…

Never allow yourself to be surprised at the stupidity of people.

Way past that. I routinely have more faith in humanity than it deserves.

I’ve always thought ā€œNot naturalā€ was the dumbest argument going. Especially for a species that routinely flies through the air in steel tubes.

@cstan097 My faith in humanity test is always the following. On a 1 way street, do you still look both ways? There’s your faith, haha.

@dagill2 Yeah, ā€œnaturalā€ went a way a LONG time ago, haha.

AM WORKOUT

MAX EFFORT

High handle trap bar lift
5x155
5x245
3x335
1x425
1x515
1x605
0x655
0x605

Notes: Just shut it down at that point. I’m still not 100%, and I was going to do more harm than good trying to push through any more than that. Pissed, as high handle trap bar is typically the highlight of the ME cycle. This was also a sign that new movements need to start as soon as next week, because I can see how things are going from here. May just do the good mornings to get a bar out my hands for a few weeks and evaluate from there.

This is what’s funny to me. I’ve seen on other forums people complaining that only a few people didn’t zero an event or couldn’t complete it. In my mind, that should give you more drive to get stronger and come back a fucking mutant to slaughter the competition. It’s kind of like when Carter and Wendler wrote that standards article and people bitched and moaned about how outlandish the numbers were. They all missed the mark of shooting for something stupidly insane so you never hit your mark. Coming up short of something so insane still puts you in the top 5%.

It is disappointing to see competitions lower weight. Fear of failure and doing my damnedest to not fail are a large driving force for me to get bigger, stronger, and faster.

@oldbeancam Absolutely. I was having a discussion with someone in another location about this, where they were upset that the policy in strongman tends to be that, once you win a novice comp, you have to compete in open. They were upset because it meant they were going to have to zero a bunch of events from now on, and all I could think was ā€œwell then f**king get stronger!ā€ I don’t get why people think that’s a bad thing.

@BEAst_in_I Absolutely. It’s the only reason I compete: because it makes me stronger. Without that goal to chase, I’m simply not going to push as hard.

I just saw someone doing snatch grip deads and it reminded me that they’re a thing. That could easily work itself into my ME rotation. I see myself using an axle, just to make it even sillier.

Snatch Grip Deads are hard. Awesone lift. Extra punishing with decent band tension.

I am doing them exclusively for a 4 week hypertrophy block. Pretty curious to see how it affects my normal deadlift.

@BEAst_in_I I will have to learn the movement before I get too silly with bands, haha. I am sure they are intense though.

@Koestrizer I have always heard good things about them. Just never felt myself needing them until now.

High handle trap bar lift
40x405lbs

Notes: Just wanted some redemption from yesterday and had a limited timeline. This was a total lungbreaker. I had a little more in me, but didn’t need to push until I died this morning.
