I love the machine reverse flye and like that this provides an option I can do at home. I generally prefer to work out at home, though I have a gym membership, because it’s way more convenient. How heavy do you go and what type of rep scheme do you follow?
I only use 15-20lbs and higher reps around 10-15. Any heavier my shoulders would pull up and out of the pocket.
I never go above 20 on front/side standing lat/delt raises. You can get a wild MM a connection on those exercises. Anything above and I inevitably cheat and use motion to get it moving, hitting other body parts unintentionally.
For my fellow protein bar eaters, wanted to recommend Powerbar Protein Plus.
These bad boys have great macros:
210 calories
27C 5F 20P
They also taste great. Chocolate PB is my favorite flavor. Even my wife, who hates the taste of bars/powders, loves them.
Lastly, they’re quite affordable. They’re $2 apiece normally, but my local grocery store often has them discounted at 50% off, so $1 apiece.
I know bars aren’t ideal, but I’m working a ton these days and haven’t had time to eat great meals, so when you’re on the go, they’re a great option.
Meh, soy based. So Monsanto GMO soy and and soy itself is estrogenic.
Damn, are they really? Had no idea. What do you use that’s whey-based?
The Biotest Finibar is soy free and redcon1 makes a soy free one as well. Both under $3 a pop. There are others out there.
Are most of the ones out there soy-based? Think it’s really that bad for you?
Yes most out there because its super cheap. The jury is out on how estrogenic it may be. There have been tests that show both sides.
Thanks, brother. It’s tough to weigh stuff like this in terms of health/cost/convenience/macros/etc. I’m more dialed in than 99.9% of the population with my diet but sometimes it seems like too many variables to ever know what’s really right.
I hear ya man. real food trumps bars but if your gonna do a bar you might as well try to make it as useful to your body as possible.
I’m sticking with snickers bars
The one you showed had 3 types of protein, whey, casein, and soy. It probably wont kill you or make you have boobs but, if possible, choose non-soy products.
I remember when I thought those Marathon bars were healthy; I’d destroy those bad boys
That’s good to know. I was a little concerned for a second because I just stocked up and got four boxes. But I’ll probably slow my consumption down
100% agree.
If you can make enough food on the weekend to get you through the week, then you get the benefit and the convenience…at least during the week.
It is much easier sometimes though to just throw some 100% ON Whey Isolate in the blender with some spinach leaves, a half of a banana, some almond milk, and a cup of coffee with a few packets of stevia…and get on about your business.
A very good friend of mine down south competes professionally in Men’s Physique, and his advice is always get your protein from real food if possible…
I don’t have permission to post his pics, so here’s one I’ve cropped to make it unrecognizable…as you can see…his advice is probably worth a lot more than mine!! Lol
I think he qualifies as an advice giver for sure! I’d like to see what his routine looks like.
Lol. I don’t know his “exact” routine at the moment, and out of respect for him I wouldn’t post it if I did, but I will tell you this…
I guarantee you that his routine probably doesn’t look all that different from yours or mine. It’s not WHAT he does that makes him successful, it’s HOW he does it.
Example, him and I used to hunt together when I lived down south. Everybody was always amazed at how successful he was. Even when everybody else bombed out, he could get it done. Why? The same reason he looks the way he does now when he’s ready to step on stage. I can sum him up completely in one word. INTENSE!!
He’s gonna go harder, and deeper than ANYBODY. If you go 3 miles into the woods, he’s gonna go 5. If you do 10 reps, he’s gonna do 15. He’s just super intense and brings that attitude to everything he does. That’s why he can stand there and look like he deserves to be where he is. Because he does lol.
Well said! Definitely got some motivation out of it
