It was this one. It says the recommended dose is 1250mg and I was taking about half that. I seem to either be super sensitive or not sensitive at all to things so didn’t want to start out too high. Should I try more?
Funny story about bulk supplements. A buddy of mine who competes at a fairly high level in strongman under 231 lbs is a fairly frugal dude, so he buys bulk supplements and makes his own preworkout drinks. He was running late and had his GF make him his drink, but she swapped the scoopers for the bulk caffeine and the bulk creatine which are vastly different in size. He felt awake for that workout, and I guess did not sleep for 2 days, and almost decided to go to the hospital. IIRC, he took about 10 grams of caffeine in one go.
Yeah Id go a little higher, maybe 1g, and see how you are after a few days. 500 → 750 made a diff with me.
I think I would have died
I typically take 250 mg per night but haven’t noticed anything. Maybe I should up the dose! What’d you notice going from 500-750? And when (in relation to bed) do you take it?
WOW! What a disaster. Imagine how his GF must have felt.
She felt pretty bad. Especially when he was talking about going to the hospital.
He is a rational guy, so he knew it was a mistake, but one can’t help but be a bit upset under those circumstances.
Me too man, that’s insane
I noticed going from incessant worrying about my kids and FUD situations to calming my brain.
Just noticed I’ve been taking Magnesium and not Magnesium Glycinate – I wonder if that would make a difference
It does. I got zero relief from citrate. Is yours making you shit bro? A lot of them have laxative effect.
Wow, that is great to know. Mine hasn’t had that effect, thankfully, but I’m gonna snag some 500 mg glycinate to see if it helps with anxiety. Thanks for the advice bro!
Dont be afraid to up it. Im at 750 and didnt get enough from 500.
I’ve been thinking about my recent cholesterol numbers – my HDL dropped to 38 and LDL increased to 121 – and whether I should be concerned.
My LDL has always been pretty high (it was 124 pre-TRT before dipping as low as 68), but my HDL was 51 before I started TRT. Seeing that dip to 38 is a little bit troubling.
I asked my PA for advice, and he told me to increase fish oil and cardio (both noted). I also ordered some red yeast rice extract. The other advice he offered – reduce egg yolks/red meat, eat more chicken/white fish, take niacin – was reflective of stuff I was already doing.
Think I should be concerned? Anything else I should do to better these numbers?

For sure bro, I’m gonna start at 500 and go to 1000 if need be. The smaller-dose tablets just didn’t seem cost effective.
My 750s are 1 cap ![]()
Your numbers aren’t great, but not terrible. I would try the fish oil and cardio. I’m in the same boat and need to take my own advice.
What are your cholesterol numbers bro?
LDL of 128 isn’t high. That’s within the realm of average for an adult male eating a western diet.
HDL of 38 is a little on the low side.
Red yeast Rice extract, provided it’s legitimate is akin to taking an unregulated dose of lovastatin. It carries all of the risks associated with using conventional statins + the risk of citrinin contamination.
I find it frustrating how many parrot an anti statin agenda/are so reluctant to take statins yet jump on the red yeast rice bandwagon despite conventional statins (probably) being the safer option.
That’s interesting man, thank you very much. So do you think it’s a bad idea to introduce the red yeast rice extract at this point? I have a bottle of 600 mg capsules.
