Intermittent fasting “worked” for me to get lean but I found I had food on my mind all the time and my energy would fluctuate. I like the high-protein, high-volume, low-calorie meals all day thing. I usually eat 4-5 meals a day of 500ish calories. I get hungry like every 2-3 hours and just eat. It’s great.
Im having Anabolic French Toast again tonight for dinner. I had it twice yesterday. 525 cals = 85 carbs, 40 protein, and 3 fat. So great.
Please share these hacks
Thanks for the feedback @bkb333 ! And yeah, I’m happy with the results to date and stoked to see what’s to come. Until I compared to where I was before, I actually didn’t think I had made that much progress.
Regarding thyroid, my doctor flagged it too, but didn’t touch it at the time since I wasn’t exhibiting much in terms of symptoms, but I’ll inquire about it again.
And yes, still doing injections, current protocol is 150 mg per week, spread out over 3 injections.
Can’t recommend highly enough that you start following their videos — you’ll get much more that way, I promise — but here are some of my main takeaways:
- Body comp is ALL about calories and protein. That’s it. Don’t focus on anything else.
- Eat high-volume, high-protein, low-calorie meals.
- Get creative in the kitchen! Address your cravings and eat your favorite foods, but in a healthier way (they have tons of amazing recipe videos for things like ice cream, pizza, brownies, French toast, mac & cheese, etc.) This one is a complete game-changer.
- Artificial sweeteners are not to be feared and are in fact your friend. Get lots of low-calorie sauces, like G Hughes BBQ, honey mustard, sugar-free maple and chocolate syrup, etc.
- Lift and do at least some cardio.
- Track and measure your food at least for a time to increase your awareness. I’m not tracking now, but I’ve established such a crazy awareness level by vigilantly doing so previously, and I’m sure I’ll track intermittently in the future.
Edit: I’ll add to this as I remember more takeaways.
- EAT FIBER! It keeps you full.
- Eat foods that take a long time to consume (giant salads, lots of veggies, anabolic ice cream, popcorn, etc). It takes a while to signal to your brain that you’re full after you begin eating.
I have recently discovered the good Doctor Greg myself. Lots of common sense stuff that is easy to incorporate. Also, his presentation is pretty entertaining. I’ve really only made the anabolic ice cream, but have started eating popcorn for snacks (huge bowl for like 100 calories), and I’m eating fruit for snacks (with artificial sweetener).
I’ve also done quite not as low calorie meals as his, but still way lower than the standard item. I’ve been doing pizzas on high protein wraps.
His videos on different anabolics and sarms are pretty good to. Only major difference in gear philosophy is his ai use, which seems high to me.
I find him to understand logic well. I think he mentions doing competitive debate. He seems to say only things which he can defend really well. The debate on Omar’s channel with Mike Israetal showed his superior debate skills. Mike made himself look like a total ass.
He’s such a legend, man. I’m so grateful I found him. His perspective is refreshing, he’s so knowledgeable, and his recipes are amazing. Have to disagree with you on the debate, honestly - I thought Mike did better. I might need to revisit it.
Well, Mike made some good points, but was not skilled in debate. He made personal attacks, and somewhat misrepresented Greg’s positions (strawman). Greg pointed these things out. I think Mike did better than he should have because Omar’s moderation was poor (he just doesn’t have experience).
You’re probably right. I think they’re both super smart guys who know a ton about the subject matter, and I like both of them. Obviously the answer is not volume or intensity, but some of both at different times.
Haha it’s great he says. I get tired of eating , but yah it’s healthy if you are getting hungry you know the body is working efficiently and absorbing the
It’s official, fellas – I’m making the switch back to cream. Fuck convenience
Feeling like your best self sometimes requires sacrifices.
I still have a full bottle of injectable T. Haven’t decided if I will ride it out with that, or do some injections and some cream, but the future for me is cream. I’ve felt better since adding the 1 click of 50 mg cream and am confident going fully to 200 mg cream will yield even more pronounced effects. I knew this was the right move when I started TRT, but concerns about convenience got the best of me.
Haven’t decided how many clicks I’ll do. Maybe start at 2 AM/2 PM and see how well that works? @enackers @ncsugrad2002 @dextermorgan @NH_Watts
I will never understand the folks that would sacrifice any level of feeling better for more convenience. Like the “I’m quitting TRT because I don’t want to spend an entire minute twice a week to inject myself”. You would be surprised what I would do to stay how I feel on TRT.
Dude if cream is what works best then congrats on figuring that out. I know Dr Nichols has great success with creams. I say start with the lower amount and then increase it (taking daily notes at the end of the day) and compare to see what dose is best. Maybe it would be informative to start a second cream based log where your just lost what you’re doing with the cream switch since we don’t have many good ones here. Could really help some folks down the road. Of course log the results here as well.
I did 2 clicks in the morning (around 6am) and 1 at night, around 10pm. It worked out to about 8 hours per "click’, I didn’t apply evenly spaced out so I did more in the morning to kind of try to make it last longer. Not sure that logic actually works but what the heck.
I agree… do what works. 2 clicks got my free T to 39 at peak, so it def works to get levels up… I never tested DHT while on it, I wish I would have. I believe you’re on a little higher T dose than me now so I think 2 and 2 is probably a good place to start.
ONE caveat. I read something once saying to be really, really careful about transference if your wife is pregnant. I don’t remember the details of why but def. look into that and make sure you’re still OK with going forward with it right now… I may be not remember the right thing but I’m pretty sure I read something about it once so just check into that real quick first
I definitely get it, brother, and now I’m with you. I was trying to find some sort of middle ground.
The issue wasn’t so much the application – though that can be annoying on busy days, waiting for your balls to dry in a public restroom stall as your wife waits outside – as ordering. I was placing orders every few weeks, and I was hoping to find a method that was more “set it and forget it.”
But nothing beats feeling your best.
I’ve given it time, continually increased my dose, and done just about every frequency you could try. Injections simply aren’t getting the job done for me like cream does. No idea why, but that seems to be the case for a lot of high-SHBG guys – as you noted, Nichols has been saying this for a long time.
Yeah, I’m thinking 2 and 2. My prescription is for up to 4, so this would keep me in compliance with it. Though I have no problem going beyond it, as I have been, staying within the bounds is preferable just so the doc knows what’s up. That said, he doesn’t want me applying all 4 to the scrotum, but I still plan to do so.
I also didn’t test DHT on cream, SMH. My level on injections has been between 129-147 (Ref 16-79). I would guess my level will be notably higher. I’m not concerned at all about hair loss. I have super thick hair and really strong genetics in that department – wish I could trade some of my hair genetics for better muscle-building genetics ![]()
You are definitely right – this was a concern. I’ll be doing slightly earlier applications.
We only have sex at night, usually around 10 PM, and I wouldn’t do my PM application any later than, say, 3 PM. I would be shooting for earlier in the day, though – like 9 and 1. If I think there’s a chance of transference, I’ll honestly pass up the sex. Not worth the risk.
You have more willpower than me, haha
Few things in life have a stronger emotional pull…but the health of your first baby obviously does!
Won’t grow without the calories. Are you still eating under 2000 cals?
I’m eating 2000-2500 right now. I haven’t been tracking the past two weeks, which has been huge for mental health. I’ve just been making sure I get enough protein (180-250 per day) and weighing myself each morning. Body comp has, if anything, improved since I stopped tracking.
My plan now is to “main-gain,” a la Dr. Greg. I’m in the low 170s and hope to stay there, or very slowly inch up to low 180s over the next year. If I can stay shredded, stay healthy (in prime cardio shape, as I am now), and hit 180-182 by this time next year, I’d say that’s a huge win. I think it’s feasible, especially as I’m switching to cream.
I did the ‘eat more calories’ thing this fall/winter…my BW went from 170-186. I tracked every day (hitting 200g protein) and resistance trained at least 5X each week.
Then I cut back down this summer…and was at 170 again! I do look a little better now, so I probably gained a little bit of muscle, but likely only 1-2 lbs.
I think my gains were limited because stress was too high and hormones were off.
