I would like to know what do other professional bouncers do to prepare for their job fighting/controling difficult clients wise.
How do you fit your training around doing night shift?
What do you focus on?
We have a bouncer in town who is 6’6" 280lb-300lbs. Do you really think he needs training?
Actually, yes,he does. There are dangerous people out there who wouldnt be intimidated by his size coz they are either armed or well-trained.
So you wouldn’t be intimidated by a bear if your well-trained. Basically what you’ll be fighting.
i was told you need actual training to be bouncer. like you have to go to a bouncer school
my vice principal was a bouncer
Bring a pair of big balls with you.Experience, psychologic skills with problematic people, sharp eyes to spot problems, etc. you will aquire only through work.
Best is to work with a team of experienced bouncers.Pick one that in your opinion is the best one and copy him.
Good luck! The job is not so glamorous as it seems, but it has its own rewards ;)))

This video speaks louder than any words.Enjoy!
Do you really think Cro Cop in his prime will go to a small town and get into a fight with a bouncer? You seriously must be like 12…

i cant fuckin wait. i’ll grow out my gotee and shit
I worked in a bar for a long time. Combat skill has very little to do with being a successful bouncer. Bouncers are there to look scary, pull drunk people apart and push them out the door. The reality is most people are out to have a good time and have drinks. Usually when you take that away from them and ask them to leave, they get polite really quickly. If they don’t, bouncers pick them up and carry them out.
I guess the best way emphasize that is that I’ve never seen a bouncer throw a punch. I’ve seen plenty of college kids thrown down stair ways, and plenty of drunks beating up on each other. But once the 350 pound man shows up and the booze stops flowing, everyone cleans up real well.
So if you want some real advice. Be a bouncer if you’re very large and angry looking. Also, carry a mag lite. Great for checking IDs, blinding people and clocking them on the head.

Don’t have to be big though. I’m a small guy, bur people tend to be very polite just the same. I’ve actually had less trouble than some of my much bigger co-workers. I can’t be certain, but I think the reason is: the drunk sees the big guy and thinks “well, they probably just hired him because he’s big and looks mad”, but when I walk over to talk to them, something like “what the hell gives a guy half my size the confidence to just walk up to be and tell me off? And why did they hire him?” is going through their head. Just guessing though.
The mag lite is a great advice though. Also look up on Geoff Thompson.

Bouncing seems glamorous?
LMAO. I trained with quite a few Polish guys who had come over to London to work as bouncers, funny guys but most of them were borderline psychopathic.
In order to be a bouncer you must be, morbidly obese, have about 8% more muscle mass than the average frat boy, and preferably be black or latino. If you are white, you cannot get away with being as fat and laughable as the other two groups, but you must be white trash or some kind of biker in that case.

lol. we have a lot of white guys who are neither white trash, bikers, or morbidly obese.

Fuck man, if you mention one more time that your in army…
my friend got kicked out of a club for underage drinking by some 6’6 350lb looking bouncer a while back. i watched the bouncer lead him to the door, my friend didn’t contest it one bit… when i got outside my friend who’s about 5’6" 160 told me he tried to fight the bouncer but the bouncer pussed out LOL. funny story. but i guess the moral is that when you’re drunk and have a guy the size of a O lineman pulling you out the door, you’re not really worried about picking a fight.

Agreed. I’ve been working in the field (always part time never ft) since '97. I am quiet and not at all “big”. I find my nonthreatening demeanor is appreciated by many modern thinking, customer service oriented businesses. But when it’s business time I can adjust.

You seriously think the bouncer “pussed out”? Get a grip on reality, a real man is never going to fight a drunk kid who is half his size over absolutely no reason. Stop watching “Never back down”.

why on earth do you think i put LOL after it? especially following it up with a drunk person not wanting to pick a fight.
i knew he was lying, he’s always lying about something.
I soon learnt from working on doors that your brain is your most important weopon a large mojority of the confrontations will be bravado or alcahol feuled which is easily dealt with accasionally billy big bollocks will want a fight if you can spot then restrain him before he throws a punch then your a much better bouncer than one who brawls on the door step , other than that a good grip, 18 stones, a knock out punch, booming voice, and love and hate tattooed on your knuckles seems to do the job
