I can tell you something about the Italian diet, living in south Italy for 4 years now and what I saw here is quite frightening.
in the morning a coffe with a cornetto (croissant filled with chocolate, or cherry jam or pistachio creme)
lunch: 1 plate pasta / 2 plate some meat or fish with vegetables and always white bread
dinner: the same as lunch
for snacks they have sweets
btw: a lot of people skip the second plate in favour to save some kcal
thatās my 0,01⬠to this topic
I think to get most of both diets (keto and carb), you should eat your carbs on purpose, around your training and maybe, for those, who needs, at night. the rest of your day could be something like keto meals.
with that approach I trained my metabolism to use the fuel which is available at the moment (fats or carbs)
Iām believe you 100% my friend. Most modern countries have high carb diets. Iām mainly talking about ancient diets that our ancestors maintained for 10s of thousands of years before all these modern trash diets took over. But thank you for your input
Iād have to disagree with you my friend. Not because Iām vegan (thats for the animals, not health) but Iām also not sold on keto. I think for people like yourself who HAVE to go keto, its fine but its not the norm.
There are countless studies showing the link between high fat (cholesterol) and heart disease, but we wont get into that. I dont buy into this āour ancestors ate meat and berriesā, in the East, carbs have been the bulk of diets for as long as can be dated back.
Its all the modern inventions like sweeteners, processed sugar, atkins, keto etc that are the problem. Didnt the founder of the atkins diet die from heart disease?
You nailed it. The VAST majority of our obesity problem and heart problems are associated with sugar, sedentary life styles, stress, fast food. They are sadly all intertwined with one another and a very vicious cycle.
Plenty of studies show the benefits of healthy complex carbs.
Look at you, big ol softy with your love for animals! You have an impressive size for being vegan man!
Did you ever see Dr Atkins? You would assume by his body composition that he didnt practice what he preached and was in it for the money. I agree you can find a study to push any idea you want but pretty much all of the studies linking high fat with heart disease have been disproven by modern science. Thats why someone with perfect hdl and Idl can fall over dead from a heart attack. Cholesterol is a terrible predictor for future cardiac events and triglycerides are actually a better indicator. Triglycerides are controlled by reducing your carb and sugar intake. Ive deceased my triglycerides by 2/3s since starting keto. The best way to identify risk though is based in ldl particle size and calcium scores. Its a large body of knowledge and one that is continually evolving but modern science is finally catching up.
the main problem with crabs is, when our cells are over filled with glycogen.
if you workout hard and eat your carbs around to fuel those, you wonāt have any problems!
if youāre some one who gets up from bed, take his car, drive to work and then drive back home, yes, maybe you should focus on a more keto lifestyle!
Eat what works for you. Thatās it. Results speak for themselves. You donāt need a special plan that only includes grains sprouted from a cave thatās guarded by Franciscan monks or meat that only comes from animals who had Mozart played in their pens while they slept. Find a balance that makes you feel good, keeps you healthy, and gets you to your goals.
I couldnāt agree more. One of my buddies who is a very good trainer praises low carb and high fat. Another who also likes keto and intermittent fasting. I donāt thrive on low carb. I need moderate carbs at least to maintain my physique. We are all different animals and I donāt think one size fits all.
How is cyclical keto going for you? Are you still doing carb refeed meals / days or are you doing dextrose pre-workout? Are you making noticeable lean gains? What have you discovered these past few months?
Hey buddy! It went rather well. Because of my reactive hypoglycemia I had to be really careful what type of carbs I took in. Ive been strict keto for about 3 weeks right now and I can honestly say I feel better on strict keto. Atleast a high protein version of keto. I love it even when its tough and everyone is eating carbs around me. Everyone I know is constantly acting like keto police trying to catch me eating carbs. Its kinda funny actually
I would say only that in the past there is one thing to highlight, starvation⦠, most of our ancestors had times when they couldnt eat at prolonged times, due to work(like all day on field) or just lack of food(in central europe this was certainly after wars and even before as serfs etcā¦) and that puts you into ketosis/and catabolism that primes body for next growth/bulk phase etc. But true eat whats right for you, everybody has different digestion enzymes etc. Common examples are alcohol and milk, either you can drink it in volume or just cant, blame genetics.
