Rapid Rate Muscle Growth without Fat Gain

Most of what I’ve seen posted here in this section and about Doc’s techniques IS about building muscle. Or so I thought.

I see a metric ton of high praises for the techniques and ideas behind his routines and ideas, but don’t get to see much in terms of progress, like pictures.

Just curious is all.

Current at 212ish

I gotta get back on my fitness pal to get before s. But same weight but like 40% bf and zero muscle.
As to what I wanna be, just google iffb classic or physique. That would be the end goal.

I’ve posted pictures plenty of times. I’m nothing special, and quite small with a long road ahead. I would just like to see more transparency from a lot of the users claiming these techniques as the end all be all.

I workout everyday. I’d have to count sets per body part but it’s a lot. The only thing holding me back is diet. It’s hard to eat enough to grow.

The fast condition in those studies was about 180 degrees of rotation per second around an isolated joint, against a maximal resistance. That is an extremely fast rate of movement given that is done with maximum effort over a large range of motion. Because these studies exist, it is obvious that such conditions can (safely?) be created using an isokinetic exercise machine of the proper design. It is by no means obvious to me how to safely duplicate those conditions using a barbell or conventional weight machine. Any thoughts on how to translate these research findings into a practical training program?

Exactly!!

Thanks for posting a picture of your self!! What you lack in muscle you make up for in guts ! Can you give us a brief rundown of your everyday routine?

You look good. I wish I had those thighs. My upper body may be similar to yours but I’m not as big. I’m around 180 now but 170 is best for me.

I see you have a shrug bar.

You should checkout Dr.Kens trapbar training 2 routines. I think you would like it. It’s HIT though. :grinning: It might take a half an hour. I can send it to you if your interested? I think it could add some size to your legs and upper body for sure.

Understood, I never could build muscle for show, I used to train 6 days a week Arnold style…never gained muscle for show…trained Haney style…never gained muscle for show…trained yates style, never gained muscle for show…trained mentzer consolidation style and never gained muscle for show, actually got fat and out of shape on that routine…therefore, I find dardens style to allow me to enjoy other things in life but the gym and maintain whatever muscle I have to show and strength and health…i was always told by friends that I was very strong, however the muscles never popped out…thats genetics

That would probably ware me out after a few weeks. Thats why I do what I do.

I would like to know this as well.

Out to lunch with the kids. I’ll answer the question about my training later today.

In all fairness, genetics play such a big factor into it all for natural trainees. As a result, I don’t think it’s fair to get personal with people to challenge their training ideas. “Hey, let’s see how big you are if that technique or approach works! My arms are bigger than yours, so that is that!” What we can/should be asking is how well or effective was a certain approach for that person if he tried it. We can also challenge or discuss the logic and reasoning behind something…as well as the research if any.

Perhaps we can agree to disagree.

Still waiting on any facts or logic.

Yes I agree and I should apologize for my overzealous nature. I would not want to see this forum turn into a shit show.

I like it much better than the old one. Most of my comments come from the fact that this is about HIT. Dr.Darden Coaching.

So I talk about HIT and how it helped me. What I learned and what I know works for me.

Sometimes I don’t quite get why someone would want to post such contrarian information/studies) that don’t have much to do with the purpose of this sub-forum.

Here is a terrible pic…lost 20lbs in the last year and a half…204, looking to get down to 190

Simple,

30 seconds for the eccentric phase is contrary to faster tempo eccentrics which research showed produced superior results.

Because some refuse to read or acknowledge these studies speaks volumes about the HiT community as a whole. Reminds me of the circular logic fallacy of the SuperSlow movement in regards to rep speed. Similarly, Dr. McGuff and Mr. Baye stating resistance training is all that is needed for cardiovascular conditioning. False reasoning abounds in HiT.
I post to eliminate these fallacious HiT arguments.

It’s very hard to look at yourself on a day to day basis and notice changes. That is how people get fat and get offended when someone tells them. At best, you will see and older photo of yourself and then notice how you have changed since then. I recommend to people that they take regular photos of themselves so they can track changes over time.

I have another analogy. You have a stack of 200 crisp $1 bills. Each day you take one from the stack. Can you tell from one day to the next the stack has changed? Now, if you took a photo and then another photo 3 weeks later, you would see the difference.

I read the studies but I don’t understand the lingo. You say faster than 30 seconds eccentrics produced superior results yet for some reason you can’t seem to say what that faster tempo is? How hard is it to just say it??

Scott,

Read!
It is not my responsibility to try to help you understand.

BTW you left out Arthur Jones and the West Point study.

Anyway it works for me regardless of other studies. I use more exercises though. 8-10 fairly heavy for me.

If I can keep my heart rate up and for 20-30 minutes twice a week I’m happy.

Sometimes I do 10/5 or 30/30/30 or 30/10/30. There are times I don’t time anything.

I aced two stress tests. Each being several years apart. On a treadmill flat to an incline.
The kicker is it was the only two times I had ever been on a treadmill my whole life.

I’m only saying this as an example. It works for me. I try not to compare myself to others.

Anyway it not a fallacius HIT argument. Nothing set in stone. Lets face it you could find studies that are or or against this.

If anyone wants to do more cardiovascular work then go ahead. It’s fine. Clarence Bass does both.

I could be wrong but it could be possible people get upset because you don’t let up. Most who have been on the Doctors HIT Forum for years knows this.

No animosity here. Find what works for you and give it your best. If it’s not for you then it’s not for you.

If some needs to do a different form of exercise thats fine.

I hope your not still upset that you got booted from McGuffs forum?
