Rap/Hip-Hop

damn, we got some hiphop heads on here.

Personally i dont listen to much hiphop. Well commercial hiphop.

Favs are eminem and nas probably right now.

Anyone here ryhme or record?

I wish some bad ass black dude would just beat the fuck out of eminem. He is such a pussy. He is the kind of dude I beat up in high school. Now he thinks he is a bad ass, talking shit all the time about everyone. He is such a pussy example of a white rapper too. That Irish dude from house of pain just needs to step up and fuck him up bad. Just bam 1 good punch to jaw on national tv. then get him in a head lock and make him confess he is a pussy on entertainment tonight. How can any one respect that little bitch. He has turned every teenage kid in America into a blond dye job bitch it makes me sick. what I wouldnt give to bet his ass real bad one night at a party and then spend the rest of the night making fun of him while he sits there with a ice pack on both his eyes.

my preference of west coast style rap over east coast has absolutley nothing to do with the price of tea! the cultures are still the same, a hip-hop head is a hip-hop head, regardless of what side of the country he is from.

How can I forget one of my all time favorites, the Beastie Boys?

Also, for a good laugh: Dr. Octagon
Most disturbing lyrics: Brotha Lynch Hung

P-DOG: If thats how you see it, what more can I say: Youre right. Case closed.

BIG MARTIN: Nice idea.

Problem is, Es so rich, youd wind up in court and he could sue your ass so bad that all of your family down to your grandchildren`s children would have to give chip in to eventually pay the bill.

The bigger the wallet, the dirtyer the lawyers. Dont you love laws`? It sucks, indeed.

My favorite MC is NAS. Illmatic may be the best rap CD of all-time. Wu-Tang Clan is my favorite group; Enter the 36 Chambers is their best effort. Here is a list of other MC’s/groups I listen to:

  1. DMX
  2. Biggie
  3. 2-Pac
  4. A Tribe Called Quest
  5. Eminem
  6. Public Enemy
  7. Outkast
  8. The Roots
  9. N.W.A.
  10. Dr. Dre
  11. Eric B and Rakim
  12. EPMD
  13. Keith Murray
  14. Redman
  15. Bone Thugs 'N Harmony
  16. Busta Rhymes
  17. Naughty By Nature

Biggie is definetly the greatest of all time. I like some of Tupacs stuff and I also like Shyne. I think the greatest song to work out to is VICTORY by puff daddy and Biggie. I also like working out to Notorius Thugs from Biggie and Bone Thugs.

no man. you’re calling it culture. not all blacks sag their pants, and not all white kids who sag their pants are tryin to be black.plain and simple.martin, that rapper from house of pain does wanna whup shadys ass. they both have underground battle tracks talkin shit to eachother. eminems sounds like a pop studio track, everlasts sounds like underground reign, and he basiclly told em that talk is cheap, you wanna play hard be hard.

Public Enemy still rocks the house. I’ve always been a fan on Body Count. Even now when Ice-T has lost his edge.

I hope that big martin wasn’t talkin about everlast. The lead singer/rapper from house of pain wasn’t everlast, but was more of a badass than everlast. I’m pretty sure I’m right about this. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

JWright, you’re wrong. Same guy.

I don’t know if I’d call Everlast badass, but I really liked his post-House of Pain solo stuff, some of which was more straight-up rock than hip hop. Eminem’s a pussy? Why? Just because he’s a huge pop icon so all the 14 year old girls want him now? I don’t think that makes him a pussy. . .it would be it he acted all metrosexual like N’Sync or something, but he doesn’t. Is he just a pussy because he didn’t run with a gang, or couldn’t kick DMX’s ass, but he talks all aggressively anyway? Face it, not everybody’s gonna be the most thugged out motherfucker in the world, but part of hip hop is about acting aggressive and talking smack about other people. Being a tough motherfucker shouldn’t be a pre-requisite for being a hip-hop artist. Therefore, I don’t see how you could label Eminem a pussy.

(For those who are going to argue that I’m stereotyping in saying part of hip-hop is about acting aggressive, look at the battling tradition. KRS-ONE, a very socially conscious and non-thug rapper, talks smack aggressively.)

nope hes right it is everlast.

for those who dont know, kid rock used to be an underground rapper as well. personally i think hes gay!

Yeah, you guys are talking about Danny Boy from House of Pain. THAT would be a good celebrity boxing match. Even better than Willis beating down Vanilla Ice.

As much as Eminem flows, I just can’t totally embrace him as a genuine rap artist. Not because he’s white. Because as someone mentioned, he couldn’t protect a warm cup of piss when it comes to fighting, yet he makes millions talking shit. Not that I condone fighting, but if you’re rapping about a certain way of life, you better live it. He’s a studio gangster. I like some of his songs because he makes me laugh, but seeing kids that want to be like him depresses me. Many people either don’t see right through the fakers or they don’t care, as long as the beats and rhymes are tight.

This is the reason why I never respected Puffy as a rapper. I respect him as a businessman and producer, but he can hardly call any of his work his own. It’s mostly ripped off remixes.

It always bummed me out the way that hip hop artists with true talent that didn’t sell out got lost in the mix. Sure, their true fans remained loyal, but if the teenagers didn’t see it on MTV it doesn’t exist. That’s what was great about Yo MTV Raps. Just look at the way people change their style in order to make more money. Commercial rap sucks, but I guess I don’t blame these guys for giving in to the pressure. Just seems like the norm for good rappers to go through this evolution. Take Nas or Jay Z and compare their monetary success with groups like The Roots, Del, Tribe, etc. These are all very talented individuals that started in the same place. As soon as Nas started rapping about sniffing coke, buying bitches diamonds, driving Bentleys, and being a gangster, he blew up. Totally different style than Illmatic. He tried to go back to his roots with Stillmatic, but you get the point.

BTW, ODB is free!!

Here’s my list:

Outkast (prefer the old stuff)
Mobb Deep
Biggie
Tupac
Eminem
Dr. Dre
Guru
Wyclef
The Roots
Mos Def
Talib Kweli
Nappy Roots
Bubba Sparx

I dig this stuff, Outkast had some good music with the record Aquemini, and Atliens, the first one was good too. Now, it’s a little too mainstream. But because of Aquimini, their my 1st. Mobb Deep is just that good with all their records to be 2nd. Biggie and Pac were always tight as well.

So which is it, Danny Boy or Everlast?

I’ve been listening to a lot of Rap lately…

…mostly at intersections.

why is it that if your a gangsta rapper you have to live the life to be respected, but a rock, country or pop star doesnt have to live the life?

Probably because all other recording branches need not mandatory in-your-face verbal challenges & competitions in the background/culture to get your skills high. One rockstar/popstar/musician can better his skills alone and still wind up on top.
