I think restaurants should be required to put nutritional information on their menus to help you decide what to eat. Too many times I have ordered something, only to realize the portion of chicken I ordered was 4oz. This has happened to me on numerous occasions. I mean, I COULD bring a food scale out with me, but I think the whole reason to go out to eat is for the fact someone else is doing the cooking…
Is it really hard for restaurants (im not talking McDicks here) to not only have portion sizes in things that we can utilize, but have a nutritional breakdown so we dont end up eating crap we dont want?
You can call me lazy, idiotic or whatever you want, but until I see portion size and nutritional information on menus at restaurants, I wont rest…
You aren’t lazy, dude, just unlucky. I find that restaurant portions tend to be too big around Tallahassee. It might explain why so many people in my town are, ahem… plus-size. I don’t have anything against pigging out on occasion, but geez, you gotta exercise a little bit if you do!
A weekly rant? I like that. I too am a generaly pessimistic person, and like you said in the first rant, it’s good to bitch & complain in the company of other negative types! Shit brotha, I feel you on the ginp-ass protein sources at most restaurants. But if they’re gonna gimp on anything, it’s gonna be the protein source, meat is expensive! My girl is a cook at two local resaurants and when she somes in to work she usually has to make to multiple “specials of the day” with whatever’s around. So breaking down the nutrient values of such a meal is imposible. But for the regular every-day dishes they very well could get some nutritional tables going. Hell, maby we should ask them if they need nutritional consultants to do that for them, that could be a good part-time job for people like us! All’s I know is that whenever I go into her restaurants, I get hooked up with the protein!
lol…good rant. nothing new, but nice to hear this one again after over a decade of the same rant. See your hand? There’s your field calculations for serving size. I am not familiar with any place you eat in your community, but I’d try staying home to eat if I was concerned with my nutrition.
