LOL - I love it!! the Chinese carrier on the lake!!
It’s actually a building that looks like an aircraft carrier built on the shores of Lake Dianshan. Some kind of educational park,if my memory serves me right.
Here is a better view of the Chinese military acadmey that for some reason looks like a Nimitiz class aircraft carrier.
My theory is the Chinese built it so they can train and practice carrier operations in a realistic environment. So that when they finally do start building carriers their crews will be ready to go.

Sorry, I don’t know military vehicles, but about the bullpups: anyone have any experience with them? Are they really that poor a design? The drawbacks, from what I can see, are:
- Long, complex trigger mechanism. Does this lead to a crap pull?
- Cartridge placement. A mis-loaded round can cost you half your face.
- Tougher to change mags.
In theory, the design is good – you have a shorter overall length but with the same barrel. The wasted space taken by the stock is no longer wasted. The gun should be more maneuverable in close quarters.
So what are your thoughts?[/quote]
I have used both the M-16 and a Tavor, which is a bullpup. My eldest two daughters’ issued weapons are both Tavors and they like them very much.
Bullpups are certainly better close quarters.
You do need to buy expensive ammo, as smoke tends to get in your eyes under heavy fire, and cheap stuff smokes.
My carry weapon in the USA is a GLOCK or if in a suit a small frame HK .380 and a 12g shotgun for home defense. I also have an AR-15, but candidly I keep it locked up and don’t use it.
My daughter (and I) are both lefties, so we appreciate the ability to alter the cartdrige expulsion on a Tavor.
Side-to-side, the Tavor is just as accurate as the M-16 and is probably significanly better in belly-shooting that actually occurs in close combat.
(Note, I am not some great soldier. I’ve been in a couple of firefights, by accident, but I was an engineer. We’re not supposed to be in combat, but it happened. I defer to actual soldiers.)
Jewbacca - How is the recoil handling on the Tavor in snap shooting (belly-shooting) like you described? Do you find it easier to hold target at the low ready?
