How do pits do/respond with Schutzhund training?

Alternatively you can shoot them with a machine gun out of a helicopter.
I have done this and have plans to go again this year. If you like guns and shooting pests, you will be in fucking heaven.
Wait, that’s a real thing? I thought Csulli was joking. So is it, like, if it runs, it’s a wild hog. If it stands still, it’s a well-disciplined wild hog?

Did they have to sling load you on blackhawk Bauber? LOL I’ve spent way too much time in small aircraft and the weight limit for most passengers is under 200lbs. For some it’s under 175.
Were you shooting out of a larger helicopter? R44 or something similar?
Haha yes it was a R44. Not sure on the exact model, but it was decent size.

It is a real thing and is gaining popularity big time. The hogs are usually always running, but I didn’t have too much trouble scoring kills. And I am not the best shot in the world.

I raise 2-3 pigs a year and as my avatar shows, I hunt and hunt hard. There is no easy way to kill an animal for me. Sometimes I wish it was like fishing, just throw them back but that’s the sport. They are all God’s creature and when I come up on even a swift kill, I feel bad. Maybe My E2 runs higher then most.
Invasive wild hogs are a SERIOUS problem in the South and Western U.S.
They are also very violent, I have seen large hunting dogs gored to death.

Very serious. They are destroying farmland, running out the deer population, and just causing chaos.
You don’t want to get caught with your pants down coming up on a wild boar. Like you said they are mean bastards and will fuck you up.
Not just that, they’re very difficult to kill! The traditional way to kill a wild pick is to stick a spear in its stomach, hoist it up in the air and wait for it to die. These are not stupid animals, and they’re perfectly capable of cheating people when they’re close to death.
Guns make things easier, but not so easy that danger can be ignored, and in those circumstances a strong, powerful dog who is trained to kill nonhuman animals on sight is your best friend. I don’t have personal experience of hunting wild boar, mind you, but killing pests is a regular chore here and you hear stories.

I know what you mean. If you don’t feel a little remorse, I think you might be a psychopath.
I try to always make the death quick and as painless as I can muster.

Sport? It might be exciting but it isn’t a sport.
Anyway, in Mexico they use pits as K9s. Just to give you an idea of their trainability. If they were mindless killers they would just be a liability.
You would like it, and Texas is the mecca.
Pack heavy…my friends who went said a pretty common combo was a tactical weapon like a Daniel Defense M4 v5-300.
A large rifle like a .375 H&H Magnum
And a backup hand cannon like a .454 Casull…although some carried Glock 30’s for close up stuff where recoil was a problem.
Now keep in mind they were on foot, and did not have the luxury of a helicopter escape.

You’d probably need to get him a cut collar, unless you’re cool with him dying in battle. Which happens.
I’m not in hog country anymore, however I will keep you posted.
btw, beautiful dog.
