I don’t think this teacher meant to discriminate the student. Why was the student hanging out in front of the door for anyway. The teacher got suspended and I think that is a fair punishment. The teacher was probably trying to act cool, but probably made a mistake. On the other hand, the black reporter doesn’t seem to buy the teacher’s explanation if you watch at 2:23 into the clip.
I wonder if this would’ve been the same if the teacher was black.
this is just dumb… it looks to me like another “slow news” day in that town, so the local media had to dig something up and explode it. Trying to make it some kind of “Big Issue”, get more viewers for 15mins and get jack up the price to advertise in their channel.
my answer to all this:
Who gives a fuck???
Its just some dumb teacher trying to be “street” who ended up making himself look retarded in the process. Like many other have done in the past, and many more will continue to do.
Before I post the following, it is my humble opinion and I do not dislike black people at all, just the shit that is pulled in america.
They need to do away with the n word to begin with. It is complete bullshit to even think of the word as racist when majority of african Americans use the word amongst themselves(nigger/nigga samething) without harm, but if the white man says it, then its a racist comment.
But think for a second, turn the situation around and if a black person called a white person a cracker, would he/she lose his job? Not in a million years because of their skin color. What a stupid double standard we have in this country, I thought everyone was supposed to be treated equal when it came to our rights as a citizen and we all abide by the same rules and laws.
Its like on South Park, when Stan and Token (the black character) are arguing about how Stan doesnt “get it” about how black people get to use the word and white people dont. And in the end of the episode Stan finally says:
Whenever, I hear this type of response it makes me wonder why non blacks seem to be offended over not being given a free pass to use this word. To me the word was born out of time when a black person was owned, whipped, and bought and sold like cattle. It carried over to time when they were relegated to the back of the bus and not drinking from certain water fountains. It was never used by the white men who created it in anything other then the most derogatory way.
Finally it was adopted by it’s target group as a symbolic sign of recognition of having endured the same hardships first from the plantation then to the ghetto. I agree it’s an ugly word and I don’t use it, but why does it bother you a white man isn’t able to use it indiscriminately without raising eyebrows?
None of these black kids experienced slavery or segregation. No white person using the word n**** ever owned a slave. Get over your white guilt, it’s pathetic
No guilt here my simple friend just my own ideals. However, I applaud your right to use that word as often as you can and as loudly as you can and hope you enjoy the fruits of that endeavor.
Take care,

Your ideals are: We wronged them so we owe them privileges. How is that NOT guilt? And aren’t you racist by saying black people are now in the ghetto?
Well. For one, black people didn’t go to Europe, steal white people away from their family, bring them to a new land and make them work for no pay, torture them, treat them like dogs, and kill them. Lots of them.
omgz like a word like nigga can only be used by a certain group of the populance, while that same group also can call a much larger group words like honkey and such.

A black teacher would not have said this.
A Black teacher would be fired for saying this.
A black teacher wouldn’t be dying to use the word to be “DOWN” with some kids.
Didn’t mean to discriminate? He didn’t say it to a white kid…What he doesn’t hang out with them?
And what was his retort? “Well he said it first” Thats real grown. beside the fact that nobody else around heard the kids say it but everybody heard the teacher say it.

Very confused. If a black teacher called a white kid a honkey first he would be fired, then there would be a large burning cross on his lawn that night.

Where in the hell did I say anybody owes anybody else privileges? That’s right no where! I explained my views on the use of that word. You go ahead and live by yours ideals, I don’t give a damn what you say or do.
If you want to pretend large numbers of minorities don’t live in the ghetto or poverty go right ahead believe what ever makes you feel better, again, I don’t give a hoot. However, you have given me a pretty clear picture of where you truly stand.

Just curious, where are you hearing people being called honkey so much? Last time I heard that word used much at all was back in the seventies. I travel in some fairly diverse areas of mainly white, hispanic, and black, peoples and never really hear any Caucasians being subjected to racial epithets.
I think the ire over the use of the word is it’s popularity in rap and hip hop culture and with this Caucasian kids trying to emulate what they think is cool and other Caucasians looking down on them for this.
