Race to a 300 Bench

I’m in, best bench to date was 215. We are talking Kilos right?

however my best was 215kg so I’m in to race I’ll aim for 300kg.

Im in. Best bench is 275 touch and go ~hopefully this won’t take longer than maybe 3 months!

265 paused last night. Failed at 275. Definitely need to work on my pause.

I’m definitely joining this. I hit 230 for an easy single last Friday after only being able to put up 210 back in January, but got tired and decided to call it quits there. Hopefully by this time next year I’ll hit 300 and hopefully 315 by the end of next summer. I’m currently running WS4SB and my bench has greatly benefited. Wish me luck!

I am in. 275lbs paused in competition about 2 months ago. Fail-whaled 300lbs.

Fourth session of Smolov Jr is done, I think extending it to 4 weeks was a good call. Feels good but I haven’t hit the really hard stuff yet.

Hit an easy 265 touch and go at a non-sanctioned bench meet last night. (ended up with third, by the way–lost the tiebreaker for second) Will be going for ~280 at my full comp in April.

This is awesome. I’m entering the race and coming in from way behind.

January 19 - 210 lb touch and go

March 12 - 190 for 10 reps

I know it’s not much right now, and I’m one of the smaller guys weighing in at a buck fifty, but I’m very encouraged with my gains, and I’m confident I can smash home three plates later this year.

Got 285 a few weeks back, 10 lb PR while losing 10-15 bounds BW. Current weight is about 180 in the morning. Should get 300 soon enough, I’d like to get 315 before summer ends (and I will, damn it!)

I’m in, love to hit 300 before i go back to work in a few more mths. I done 3 singles with 264 last week after missing 275. No pause.

225x10 and 275x4 both touch and go

I hit 275 a few days ago and last week i done a few singles with 308 with the pins set about half the range of motion in the power rack.

I just got my rack i never used them before.

Differences in neural efficiency and how he’s training. This is why many people have issue with the NFL combine bench test. Football needs maximal strength yet they test for reps. How to go about training for these is very different.[/quote]

Exactly. I don’t usually bench for higher reps, but ive always been pretty good at it.
This week I did a 235 floor presss with 60lbs of chain for a single, I’d like to think it could have been a triple. good luck everyone!

hit 255x6 touch and go

I’m absolutely in, I’m so damn close I can taste it! I put up 315lbs w/ a pause at 208 lbs at 6’1" but I’m now currently 195 and much leaner, and I lost a small amount of power/muscle as well because I am now stuck at 295 with a pause and 305 touch and go (310) on a good day. I know part of it is definitely a mental wall that I am holding myself back at, 3 plates is kind of that bench mark mental weight that I need to get out of my mind.

I will try to max again not this week but the next and hopefully smash through this wall!!

Got 300 paused last week and two days ago got 315 from a soft board @ 180.

I’m in. It’s my goal to try for 315 by mid august (birthday) so 300 with a pause will be a challenge I’ll shoot for as well. I’m at 6’1" 230 now but I am trying to get down to 220. Currently in my second week of my fourth round of 531 so I’ll test my current in a few weeks.

I’m completely stuck at 285 and have been for months. Does anyone have tips for someone with a shoulder history, long arms, and a narrow torso? At this weight I’m losing it in the bottom close to the middle.

I want to get to the 181s for a comp in summer, but I’m starting to think the only way that bench is coming up is through gaining weight, but don’t want to do that until after the comp.

Finished the last session of Smolov Jr yesterday at 10x3x225 (base max of 245, have done 260). It was definitely the hardest day out of the program.

I’ll report my success on Thursday or Friday next week.
