Quitting TRT After 12 Weeks?

Hi, I am new to trt replacement and this forum. I was wondering if someone can help me with questions I should ask my doctor about safely quitting trt. I have been on 150mg test cyp and 250iu hcg per week for the last 12 weeks. My total t and free t level before starting trt were 275 and 8, respectively. All my blood work has been fine up to this point, but I have had some side effects (can’t sleep, acne) that makes me want to stop. Would I have to do a post cycle therapy (pct) when I stop? Can someone tell me where I can research this so I can be prepared to ask my dr. Questions to make sure I can “restart” my natural testosterone production? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

TRT is not a “cycle”, nor is HCG for medical purposes considered PCT.

Why not wait on some new lab work to see where you are. I am dealing with acne but it seems to have been due to elevated estrogen. Might check to see where your estrogen levels area. Since going on an AI, it is going away for me. I hear high estrogen can also cause anxiety which could easily cause you some sleep issues.

Thanks I’ll ask my doctor about estrogen level

You need to do TRT right and few doctors have any clue about what that means.

See if you can get this:

  • Self inject 50mg T twice a week, inject SC/SQ with #29 1/2" 0.5ml insulin syringes
  • Take 0.5mg anastrozole at time of injections
  • Inject 250 iu hCG SC/SQ EOD to preserver testes and fertility

Doctors are the most difficult part of TRT. Read the stickies so you know what needs to be done. You cannot be passive with this and need to manage these aspects of your health care.

Evaluate your overall thyroid function by checking oral body temperatures as per the thyroid basics sticky. Thyroid hormone fT3 is what gets the job done and it regulates mitochondrial activity, the source of ATP which is the universal currency of cellular energy. This is part of the body’s temperature control loop. This can get messed up if you are iodine deficient. In many countries, you need to be using iodized salt. Other countries add iodine to dairy or bread.
