Questions Bout New IPOD

OKay, Dled some software, got everything into itunes, then dragged 'em to the new 'pod while I was out with the dog… man, they should make this a lot easier. Now all I need to figure out is how to remove individual photos from the new ipod, I was able to get a whole folder on there, but not individual pics by selection.

S

I use SharePod (getsharepod.com) to copy stuff from any iPod to my PC.

Alright, I didn’t really read through the whole thread…BUT

If your music is on your old IPOD, you can assess the files by accessing the IPOD. While the IPOD is plugged in, go into “my computer”, access the IPOD drive, chose to view hidden files. Under one of those hidden files you should be able to access a folder with a whole bunch of folders containing music files. The titles and artist names will be jibberish. However, if you copy these files onto your computer and drag them into Itunes, everything should straighten out.

Hope this works!

This. Sansa, FTW.

Don’t get music from Itunes…Amazon lets you use their music on ANY device.

Yeah, I know that NOW…but that is after having at least 100 songs or more that I purchased locked away in iTunes.

I just downloaded two whole recently released albums from their site for ten bucks total. You can’t buy the packaging for most cd cases for that.

One more thing…Timbaland’s Shock Value II is just not on the same level as the first one.

Shock Value II blows balls, also Timbaland has stated he’s done with Hip Hop and now will only do pop.

This is why I quit buying iPods. If I bought music, I would like the ability to play that music in whatever form I see fit. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t see things that way.

This has nothing to do with it. The problem stems from the fact that Stu nuked all his music on his original computer. He shouldn’t have done that. (Don’t mean to pick you, Stu.) And stop spreading myths about the iPod.

It is entirely possible to use your iPod and store music on it without 1.) using iTunes and 2.) using mp3’s ripped from cd’s. You can easily configure the device to work as a USB mass storage device, like every other mp3 player out there, but this requires some basic computer knowledge. However, iTunes is hands down the BEST program I’ve used for managing music on an mp3 player. Other devices sometimes don’t come with any, or are just shitty wrappers over windows Explorer.

[/quote]

What myth? It is no myth that it doesn’t allow me to transfer music to any other device and also that any MP3 discs I want to play in my car have to be made through iTunes.

I have bought tons of music from iTunes that it won’t let me download to my other “non-iPod” devices and frankly, if I literally have to hack the system to allow it to do so, then they don’t need my patronage.

You can transfer your music from the iPod to any other device; did you not read my sentence that the iPod can function as a USB mass storage device? If you don’t know what this means, this means that the iPod can work just as a usb flash drive, and therefor transferring music to and from is as easy as dragging and dropping in your file explorer. A problem comes up when you have music that has DRM on it*; and this is actually an entirely DIFFERENT issue all together, separate from the the device itself. DRM’d music files are a problem with music selling services, and most services, including the iTunes store, have moved away from it in one way or another.

*A choice that was NOT originally Apple’s. Blame the RIAA on that one.

Bitlord.com start downloading brotha.

The song with Drake [Say Something], and the one with Justin Timberlake were decent, the one with Nelly Furtado and that new girl on the other hand…

And Timbo needs to settle down with the collaborations with rock and pop-rock artists- although this was a problem on the first album too. Having that Nickleback dude sing over a Timbaland beat just ain’t right.

Having that Nickleback dude sing at all ain’t right

I had a Ipod, now I have a Sansa and Sansa is MUCH better. You just drag and drop your file in the folder without all the itune bullshit. Apple is overrated

lol.
I just got my Ipod Touch also

got my music and copied some videos from youtube (mainly funny stuff and liftin vids)

now, can someone PLEASE find me a program that changes .avi files to .mp4 files?

thats not a trial that will only do the first 3 minutes? or Pazera which as far as i can see, only does FLV and MP4 to AVI?

i really need to put some movies on this.

also, Starbucks has free wifi, right? i haven’t been there in ages (summer i believe…)and though i have used blackra1n to jailbreak the Ipod Touch, I need an internet connection to get Cydia or whatever so i can download 3rd party apps. and the only network around here is locked. I may look into getting a wireless router though…

Did you authorize the laptop to use your itunes library? If you go under the Store tab up top on itunes it has on the drop down list “authorize computer”. if the computer is authorized to use your library when you hook up the ipod it should ask if you want to “transfer purchases” into the library.

I just did this with my ipod onto my parents computer which runs Vista for my dad. It will transfer all music purchased through itunes. As far as pics, I don’t know how to do that. Hope this helps.

Check out Any Video Converter. The free version should probably do what you need it to do (no adware or anything goofy).

This won’t help if you’ve bought your music from iTunes store, but as long as I’ve used iPod, MediaMonkey has been my music player of choice.

It supports (as far as I know, didn’t check) all new iPods and nearly all other portable music players and phones, and is much lighter and simpler to use than iTunes.

Also, it has cool features like tagging from amazon (if your music has tags only partially right), organizing your files according to info from tags and even forcing iPod to use folder structure of you choice.

The last one is especially great: It means I can store my music, at least in my 2nd gen nano, in folders like
Ipod\Artist\Album\Track# - Trackname.mp3

Thus music can be easily copied even on a computer that does not have iTunes.

If you’ve read this far, you might want to give it a try:

All right, fake edit:

Ventis Media is proud to announce a major new release of MediaMonkey. The new version syncs with some of the most popular smartphones, including the iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre, and Android phones, as well as with all of the latest iPods including the iPod Nano 5G, and iPod Touch 3G. This should prove especially useful to Palm Pre and Android phone owners who are unable to sync their devices with the latest versions of iTunes.

In addition to the new sync capabilities, the new version:

  • adds support for new Windows 7 features such as Aeropeek and jumplists
  • automatically monitors directories for changes so that music can be automatically added to the library (in the free version!)
  • includes close to 200 other minor improvements including numerous CD playback / burning fixes and compatibility with the latest version of iTunes

MediaMonkey 3.2 is available for download now in free and Gold versions at:

sounds VERY nice… does it still allow you to add the .MP4 podcasts?
I love podcasts, so I’d end up using itunes to DL podcasts and mediamonkey to add them to my library, etc… would be worth trying though.

Anyone else here like podcasts?

I’ve no idea, but as long as you know where your computer stores the files I don’t see why there would be a problem. In the worst scenario it’d handle them like any other audio file.

IIRC iPod has it’s own Podcast directory, but as I’ve never many podcasts I don’t know how and how well MediaMonkey handles them. But I think you should get be able to get away with adding podcasts with iTunes and all music with MM, too.

Shock Value II sucks?

WTF? God damn it. Why is 2009 so much fail, Jay Z, Em, Timbo, posters here?
