Questionable Patriotism

What the hell is this conspiracy crap you guys keep spewing?

I’m talking about an effect, or what has actually been observed past and present. Wake up man.

I see conspiracy is the buzzword of the week to discredit people who notice strategies and tactics used to promote a political agenda.

You think that certain groups are not advancing their own agendas?

It has nothing to do with a conspiracy, it has to do with opportunity. When an opportunity presents itself, agendas are advanced.

How confusing!

There are plenty of anarchists in Portland, trust me. The likely cointelpro-type tactic would be for an agent provocatuer to affiliate himself with one of these groups and encourage and amplify their natural tendencies.

I’m pretty sure the “conspiracy” thing is a joke. It goes back to Hillary the Great. I’m sure it’s being used in jest here.

It may be used as a joke at times, but it is also used as a blanket snide term for discrediting ideas and opinions… or hadn’t you noticed?

Yes, jackass I noticed. I just think it was meant to be facetious… or hadn’t you noticed?

fa?ce?tious ?adjective

  1. not meant to be taken seriously or literally: a facetious remark.
  2. amusing; humorous.
  3. lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous: a facetious person.

Come on, Vroom. Stop looking to be offended.

It allows the right wing warmongering cheerleaders to brand everyone that doesn’t agree with their own views with the same label.

Mission accomplished![/quote]

Vroom, it is your post that started the silly conspiracy talk and now you are upset about it? Was this post meant to be taken seriously??

Give me a break. You might as well say child molesters serve a purpose because they give the police something to do.

Oooops, forgot this…

Oh, and try Google-ing “sense of humor” and tell us what you come up with.

Who’s offended?

I think Derek is a little naive in his assumptions about the motives of various people in the politics forum.

Since he is obviously a bumpkin I’m helping him clue in. I think maybe he’s the offended one…

Well, think about it in the context of the FOX news thread. It has nothing to do with “conspiracies” at all.

FOX can very much choose to focus on the absolute fringe and discredit the rest of the demonstrators if they wish. You think a politically motivated organization like FOX would never consider inflaming conservatives against liberals in this manner? Hell, that’s a big part of the entertainment value of FOX news… who can argue that?

Then, Ann Coulter will make even more egregious comments about it, and following that some nitwit like Nuthunter will start a wild eyed thread full of bullshit blasting all liberals for being evil, again.

Shit, it’s almost a daily occurrence around here. Heck, admit it, you’ve seen it happen many a time… or you would if you gave it a moments thought.

Welcome to politics. Many things are designed to raise your ire against the other side.

People like Nuthunter fall for it over and over again. It’s kind of sad to keep watching it happen.
