Question of the Week

What is this “white culture” I’m supposedly a part of? Serious question.

I’m either not aware of it, or ignorant of it, or something… because I’ve felt without a culture for most of my life.

It may have something to do with it literally being built on the backs of all of those other races.

That “white society” existed at the cost of the identity of quite a lot of black people.

The names of slaves were literally erased. Not too many other races can claim literally having their names taken away en mass to that degree…yet truly building the society that is excluding them.[/quote]

LOL right, because whites hadn’t accomplished fuck all before slavery and colonialism. That’s a line of logic I never got. Everyone is equal, but whites were able to manhandle all the other races, except for the asians who voluntarily adopted Western customs, stopping just short of the liberal dildos currently infesting white countries.

But all that aside, you’ve ignored the one question I really wanted you to answer. Do you wish Europe had left Africa alone? That Europeans had never touched Africa and left it 100% to it’s own self-determination?

It isn’t a “white culture” anymore in part because of all of those “black focused media” programs.

What was a white culture was not seeing a black actor held in the same light as great white actors until the 80’s.

What was a white culture was excluding all black performers from MTV until Micheal Jackson fans spoke out.

What was a white culture was no seeing any other race in the Toy department depicted in any form at all.

The only reason it still isn’t a “white culture” is because of all of the things many are right here complaining about now.

The problem is that any display of pride in white culture is labelled as racist, which, given enough time, reduces white culture to little more than the de facto culture that comes about through basic civil interaction.

You say “White culture” like it’s a bad thing. The only reason why you aren’t a slave in Africa right now is because of White culture. Tribal communism is the extent and end result of Black culture. As far as I’m concerned, the more suppressed black culture is, the better.

This isn’t about “leaving Africa alone”. It is about this culture having a strong racist history that has affected the world until today.

That is why there is a BET…not because one was needed in 2013 but that one was needed when it was created considering the lack of any representation at all before that.

BET was never owned or run by black people so I am not sure what the agitation really is.

“White culture” being forced on ALL cultures in America before the 60’s is what was a bad thing.

Yeah, I don’t care about any of that right now. I just want to know if you would rather that Europeans had never touched Africa.

I would rather they and many others hadn’t RAPED Africa and denied the identities of all of those Africans that led to this current situation.

Is that really “white culture”, or is that “American culture”?

I can buy that “American culture” was white up until a certain point in time, but I don’t really buy that there’s a such a thing as “white culture”.

Uh, yes, until the 60’s it was very much a “white culture”. I would say it is American Culture for the first time…and only since maybe 2001 when the WTC towers burned.

What exactly do you think Africa would look like today without all that “raping”? You keep using the word “rape” like some sandy-snatched feminist, but I don’t think you quite understand how lucky you are that Europeans have this insane desire to improve the living standards of savages. Maybe you still don’t get it, but your current level of affluence was only made possible thanks to whites.

So… “white culture” just disappeared?

But “black culture” is a real thing, somehow separate and unique from “American culture”?

How could white culture disappear if it is still the majority?

The average action star is still a white man in movies.

If anything I would say that “white culture” has adopted aspects of other cultures because those cultures were finally represented.

“American Culture” is constantly changing…and constantly incorporating more aspects of other cultures.

Asian Americans are now in horror movies.

I think the only sad thing is that this needs to be explained to anyone.

You’re wasting your time trying to get an internally consistent philosophy on culture out of X, IMO. His method is limited to obfuscation and ad hoc justifications.

You forgot the ad hominems.

Whites? You mean some whites. Don’t lump all white cultures and/or ethnic groups as being one. The Romans had indoor plumbing while the pasty whites up north were living in caves. Shakespeare wouldn’t have written anything if the Greeks had never taught him.

The second question was: is “black culture” a separate entity, distinct from “American culture”?

I didn’t see an answer to that.

I would say they are becoming one in the same now considering Hip Hop has culturally taken over world wide, there are black super heroes now and many of the people they look up to in media are also black. Kids growing up today have far less of a reason to feel separate of this society…as opposed to growing up earlier and seeing the huge discrepancy in representation.

No kid today is ever going to experience a tv show not playing music because it was made by black artists.

So again, where are the “ad hominems”?

Why accuse me of something I didn’t do?
