So it wasn’t actually fornication, polygamy/polyamory that God punished - it was disobedience for other things and idolatry.
So…sex wasn’t the sin, it was the reasons behind it?

That has honestly been my take…but I never put things together the way that pushharder just did.
I am truly amazed at some of what I am reading.
I am glad some people can still think outside the box.

God’s original plan was, “Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth.” He did not specify that this was to happen with one man and one woman each and every time. [/quote]
Wasn’t that plan given to One Man, Adam, and One Woman, Eve? When you only have 2 people you do not have to be very specific.

Yes, that directive was given to one man and one woman in the garden.
It was also given to Noah, his wife, their three sons and and an undisclosed number of son’s wives at a significantly later time.
Sure He said it was.
"And there was evening, and there was morning – the first…second…third…fourth…fifth…sixth “day.” The Hebrew word used for “day” was yom. Yom always means a 24 hour day.
I know you’re not attacking me but this yom being a 24 hour day is old news.
I will have to look that one up. So Jewbacca is in the 6000 year old earth camp?

Thinking outside the box is what gives us cults that do horrible things in the name of Christ.
Push knows where I stand on this issue, but I will elaborate, and this will be my last post in this thread.
Push’s take is that if his wife says he has to stop having sex outside of marriage he will do it, because then it is adultery. Because both him and his wife are alright with it then it is ok. King David was punished with Bathsheeba because Bathsheeba’s husband did not know.
I would go so far to take all of what happened to the Hebrews in the Old Testament and what is going on today between the Muslims and the Jews is attributed to Abraham having sex with Hagar. The Jews not living in peace with their neighbors is God’s punishment for Abraham not following God’s plan. King David’s and Solomon’s Polygamy destroyed the Israel Kingdom. The infighting between brothers, and fathers, and sisters was God’s punishment for not following His original design. One man and One woman.
This led the people to not follow the Lord, and then the entire nation of Israel was punished. All because of not following the original design of God in the garden. One Man and One Woman. It does not have to be singled out. You can read between the lines. Solomon’s brother, of a different Mother, is the one who broke up Israel and started the Northern Kingdom. If David only had one wife, then the kingdom would have lasted much longer. God knew what was going to happen, and that is why he sent his Son Jesus.
We are sinful people, and if we got back to the original design that God set up in the Garden, One Man and One Woman, things would be better, but we are sinful, so people will twist God’s Original Plan, One Man and One Woman.
Leaders and teachers in the church are held to a higher standard as shown in the New Testament. Man of only One Wife, so Polygamy is ruled out in the New Testament. As Christians we should be striving to be above the world, and not giving into our sexual desires unless it is with our spouse. Do not take me as a prude, because my wife and I are far from that, but our bed is only shared with each other and we do not go outside of marriage ever.
You teach the Bible you are held to the higher standard that God set up in the New Testament. Teachers and Leaders of the church will be judged differently.
Just have to say this is interesting.
I have more to read myself.

Push, are you going to address these?

Push’s take is that if Abraham sinned by having sex with Hagar thereby bearing Ishmael who became the father of the Arabs then Jacob surely must’ve sinned by having sex with Zilpah and Bilhah who bore him four sons who became the fathers of four of the tribes of Israel.
So Ishmael = illegitimate son = bad thing = many troubles all rooted in sexual sin
Therefore Asher, Gad, Dan and Naphtali = illegitimate sons = bad things = many troubles all rooted in sexual sin?

Did Jesus come from any of those Lineages?
We are to live a life above reproach. Feel free to live your life as you see fit Push I am not judging you and it is not my place to do so. Only the Holy Spirit can change our hearts, and that includes me.
My only issue is you keep preaching that your lifestyle is not a sin when many Christians believe it is. I have no clue which one is right, but I will live my life as the Holy Spirit leads me. Right now it is as God Originally designed it in the Garden of Eden. One Man and One Woman.
How many people must stumble?
1 Corinthians 8:13
13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.
Do most women even want a man who has never had sex before even if they are Christian?
Question…wouldn’t a 40 year old virgin ring more alarms than relief?

Here’s my take. The best lovers are born, and good lovers are made. The good points of a virgin are this
-disease free
-malleable/easy to train
-lack bad habits someone else might have trained into them.
-easy to please, and eager to please in return
I"m not saying a 40 year old virgin sounds attractive to me. Neither do I want a tough old hot dog thats been tossed down a hundred dirty hallways.
