Question For Bouncers

LOL. You just accused most clubs as selling drugs on the side and most bouncers as low lifes…
Cool, you finally got the point.

Dunno whether we could say it is “some” or “most” or “all” (there’s no official study that I know of). But I can say for sure that the wankers vs. good people ratio is skewed within the nightclub industry.

The fact people are cautioning about the dangers of working with wankers is a testimony to this.

Its not just the employees and entrepreneurs of the industry anyway, It’s also the patrons. The city I live in has about 1 million people. There are like 7 stabbings a night in the Northbridge Club area alone. Some club owners get shaken down by crime gangs, some of them are crime gangs. Who knows what the causality is.

I go out clubbing, I see a lot of people having a good time, I can often have a good time myself.

I also see fistfights, stabbings, shootings, gangs, robberies, couples screaming at each other, tears, overdoses, alcohol poisoning.

Bad things happen everywhere, but they happen in nightclub districts more often.

I guess thats part of the attraction for some, and that’s why I try and get my kicks from better places.

Tell me Prof X - are you a clubbing regular these days? Do you drink much or at all? Why would you never deliberately seek bouncing work?

Is it perhaps, because you personally do not like that particular world much?

Dude, you’re an idiot. I don’t seek bouncing work because I am a doctor. I get paid just fine doing that alone. When I was approached to do it in the past, I was a full time student living off of financial aid. the extra cash helped, but it wasn’t something I would do regularly because it took too much time away from studying. 3 of my friends are bouncers. One of them I train with occasionally when our schedules sync up.

No, I don’t drink regularly. You have no point. I have CLOSE friends who engage in many activities that I don’t personally. You sound like a teenager who has had his head filled with how evil the world is. One day you may realize just how interesting other people are without believing that you have to act just like all of them.

If you watch Batman Begins, I will watch Roadhouse.

Deal. I need to see Batman Begins. I am too cheap to buy it. I’ll pick up a copy when it goes on super sale or I’ll get it from the library when they get it.
Sorry to butt in, but you have inspired me to rent Roadhouse; it is now at the top of my Netflix queue. I think I may have seen it in the theater back in the dark ages, but I don’t remember (Frankly, I don’t remember much of the 80’s at all).

And yes, you really SHOULD see Batman Begins. I also recommend Netflix. It pretty much rules.

OK, back to the thread.

Well, same, dude, I’m 27, I work around 70 hours a week currently. I’m an IT person. I look after my Grandmother, who is 85 and has Parkinsons in the rest of my time… because I WANT to. I have a girlfriend too. I dont drink or touch drugs ever because they are a waste of time - I dont have very much time… Of course I’ve tried drugs, alcohol etc in the past (they were ok as well), i used to like going out clubbing (although 8 years ago it wasnt quite as seedy as it seems to be now).

I had my mum kill herself when i was young - gambling, drink, drugs were major factors in her death. Ive seen violence, plenty of it… coincidence that alcohol always seemed to be present on such occasions?

Your’e way wrong about the fact I’ve has my head filled about alcohol and drugs and stuff. No, I’m not a churchy or anything. No, I never received long lectures about the evils of the world from anyone. I worked it all out for myself dude.

People can choose what they want to be in life. I just know that I’m a better man for the fact I eschew drug use in general. Sure, I could have a few drinks at the pub every weekend, maybe toke on a joint if it comes around… whatever. But theres no way I could do what I do with even the smallest amount of time that was not spent with a clear head.

Do you know where the term originated from? To think that my Sociology & Psychology professors were teaching me pick-up lingo, those 16 years ago… for shame.

Kid comes here, asks and question, doesn’t like the answer, and starts talking ISH. Another know it all - surprise.

Anyway, I have a question for the group; I’m a big guy, known to attract the ladies so I guess I’m fairly good looking. I want to get into porn but my swing low doesn’t swing that low - I’m only 4" standing at attention so to speak. Do you guys think I’m too small to do porn? Oh, it may be on the small side, but it’s “scrappy” when diggin in the nappy.

BWWWAAAAAHAAAAAA I continue to crack myself up.

They have pills for that kind of thing. Talk to Nate Dogg…he raves about having a dick shaped like a “U” or something.

Ass doctor. I come to work and there is just ass everywhere. I have a clock in the shape of an ass and my desk is two big ass cheeks pushed together. My pens keep getting lost in the crack.

Fun stuff. You could try plugging your desk to stop your pens from getting lost.

I was about a buck eighty when I had my first job as a bouncer, at 18 or19 years old.

I personally have never seen someone that small working as a bouncer. I guess it all depends on where you live. In Texas, you would have been tested on a regular basis depending on the club.

Dalton gets it done at that size.

Funny enough, I never saw that movie. Then again, I never saw Dirty Dancing either. I guess I missed the whole Swayze revolution. I went from Red Dawn to Ghost and that was it.

Roadhouse is on cable every five minutes. Until you see this movie you are not allowed to comment on any other movies.

As incredibly cheesy and corny it is it is actually enjoyable.

Swayze is obviously too much a pretty boy for the role but that just makes it all the more fun.

Sam Elliot is awesome as his old bouncer buddy.

This is a must see movie.

Bro, Sam Elliot was great in that part - he just ooozed that “i’d nail your old lady behind your back if I wasn’t your honorable friend” quality…lol - his standup game was old school too - he’d have one his last fight if his hair didn’t keep getting in the way.

Brings back memories though…seems like every Saturday night, we’d be minding our own business when some douche does a double flip off the pool table with his pool stick and starts beating all of us up. I hate it when that happens! lololololol.

Just like the time I caught the bartender stealing…and, when the local troublemaker ran over my car with his monster truck…or wait, was it his helicopter? no no, I meant private plane - he hit my mercedes with his private plane - and then I saved someone from a fire by yanking their throat from their neck and throwing them in the water…oh heck, I’m confused…but it really happened!

Roadhouse was awesome. Definitly a great guy movie.

One thing I took away from that movie- no matter how big they are, a shot to knees brings’em down.
…if it were only true…

Bikers hung out in the second bar I worked in: Satan’s Choice (big up here, merged with Hell’s Angels a few years back) used to hang in the back corner every Friday night, like clockwork. So long as they were left alone, or given respect when dealt with, things were cool. Every now and again one of the university jackasses (two in town, one known for knuckleheaded football players) would try to look tough by eyeballing one of the Choice, or sometimes even lipping off.

Yeah, you can guess how that would end.
I just read this and if you’re talking about a bar in Barrie there’s a good chance we may have bounced there together.

I have been a bouncer for 18 years, working everything from biker bars to country club socials. Ive been stabbed three times, shot twice, had the top of my ear bitten off, been beaten with beer bottle to an axe handle. i am 6 ft 4 weighing 275. the guy who showed mr the ropes was about your size and as bad a man as anyone you would ever tangle with.

So your size shouldnt be a major factor as long as you remember that 90% of bouncing is talking the situation down and getting them out of the bar. The other 10% is ass puckering fear when you have to go into a fight knowing that you may not go home later ,so be careful, be polite and dont trust anyone
