Putting Linux on Ipod

I downloaded the windows version, but the installer doesn’t make sense to me. I restored my ipod and tried to use the installer but it didn’t work. AM I missing downloads or what?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you follow these steps?

This is really not the place to ask. You might get more help over here:

But from the looks of it, I’d say that your hardware isn’t supported just yet.

Blame Apple!

oh what the bloody fuck.

Linux may be a perfectly fine operating system, but wft? Why do you want it on your ipod? Are you going to make a butt plug running Linux next?

Because you can.

I never carry a cellphone around. So I use my iPod for all sort of things. The click wheel is not as efficient as a phone’s pad to note numbers, but it gets the job done. Plus, it enables me to exploit the internal speaker as a mic and record sound, something the original firmware doesn’t do. Not to mention that iPodLinux can play any sort of sound file. It also lets you just drag and drop files anywhere on the device and it adds them to your playlist on the fly, instead of having to wait for it to synchronize and do all that superfluous iTunes stuff.

The downside is that power management is not optimized. So I kept it in dual-boot in case I just have to listen to music without an outlet in sight.

Why should Apple get to decide what you can do with the hardware you bought and own?

You’re clearly the one who needs a buttplug, to keep you from alking out your ass.

Thanks everyone I looked at the forum after I posted this, but I’m too busy to work on it until the weekend.
