I won’t wade into the rest of the foray here, but that last statement is bizarre. If you base your decision about how members of a religious belief or philosophy act, from a small sample on an anonymous message board, you’re doing yourself a very large intellectual disservice.

T-Nation’s e-community is hardly a representative sample of the world population, so I personally find it odd that anyone would base his or her decision on how or what to believe off of the perceived behaviors of a few posters on a message board, because it should be a far deeper philosophical conversation, with yourself first and foremost, than that.
thanks for the help. I think i have my philosophy figured out for the most part, sort of an existential thing i won’t get into. still, every few years,i feel compelled to find people loving god and eachother. I need that proof to know its real. I must see christ in people,so to speak, i keep failing, even tho i look all around. Now even on line. This particular glance was a sad event for me. There are some Christians here who need to get saved and live the christians life. No one like a phoney christian, well maybe someother phoney christioans. Gotta go,enuf time wasted.

There’s nothing quite like a non-Christian telling Christians they are phony.

I was a Christian friend. I certainly didn’t act like someof the folks on here . I knew those attitudes were wrong. Let me tell you,a christian whk has in his hub that he is trying to collect a harem, deserves the question JUST for that. If you wannna act any way you want, that some people teach as grace doctrine,i will warn you against that becuse you have to display the fruits of the spirit. I don’t = i am not a christian. Dearest confused feller,

Yes, I am a Christian.

This is my locker room, my football field. I hit hard, smash heads and even spear and face mask from time to time. I love running the ball. If I see a Confused linebacker looking to tackle me I may even go out of my way to run his (fucking) ass over. On defense I am the safety who will make you pay dearly for catching or attempting to catch a pass. I am Marshawn Lynch on offense and John Lynch on defense.

Got that?

Off the field I am normally a mild mannered guy. I’m intense in my endeavors but easy to get a long with.

I use the word “fuck” here from time to time and in the privacy of my home gym. I hardly ever curse in public.

I have met many folks from the US and Canada who frequent this website and made good friends, often very good friends, with all of them. That includes the Big Kahuna himself, TC, and his lovely wife as well as several of the men on PWI, and men and women who never get near PWI. I look forward to meeting more.

I do have some humble bones in my body. They are there if you look for them. Bring your x-ray machine.

I do regret some of the things I’ve written here. Many more I don’t.

If you were to somehow win my friendship you might just end up with the most loyal (fucking) friend you’ve ever had in your life.

If you ever try to hurt someone I love I’d be pleased to slit your (fucking) throat.

I believe the Triune God of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the Creator of the universe, the Savior in the form of Jesus Christ, and the Sustainer of all things. Some day every knee will bow before Him. I have accepted Him as my Savior and I have faith in Him.

I suppose – in fact I have no doubt – some can point to my T-N behavior with disdain and pass judgments that I don’t do things the new Testament way in some cases but “off the field” I am a different person. I’m the same but different.
Thanks for your response. I think i see where you’re coming from. Sincere apologies if it offended you. Confusion

The argument about what a Christian should be in the absolute sense is bogus anyway. A good practicing Christian can be anything from asshole to saint. Christians don’t claim perfection, in fact they note that it’s the sick who need a doctor. If you go to a doctor’s office to get cured, but encounter a waiting room full of the infirm, do you leave? No, because you’d expect the sickest people to be the ones that go to the doctor.

The real question as to Christianity’s effect is not what Christians are like, but if they are better than without it. You judge a doctor not by if his patients are sick, but if they get better with his treatment even if they are still sick. A doctor who deals with the latest stages of the worst form of cancer may have a patient life expectancy of 2 years and still be one of the best doctors in the world.

A man abused in childhood who in adulthood is a cantankerous arrogant bastard, but who breaks the cycle of abuse with his children may ultimately be counted a better Christian that the kind loving awesome parent who didn’t have to fight that same struggle with abuse. This is why we as flawed ignorant humans should not judge others.

Not that Push is a cantankerous arrogant bastard .

Do you know how unbelievably condescending the above is? Should I conclude atheism is not the way because of your word choice?

Push has defended this before. I don’t agree with it either. He will have to answer for it ultimately. My opinion on the matter really means nothing.

We are all sinners. Even the Pope is a sinner.

I’m not even sure what the above means. We all sin all the time. A Christian is allowed to sin too. It’s part of our very nature too.

The only thing that genuinely confuses me about Pushharder and his Christianity is that he participates in swinging and openly lusts after other women besides his wife.

From what I read, various denominations and sects differ on their opinion on swinging, but Jesus himself said even to look at a woman with lust is committing adultery.

Maybe this will help. Being a Christian should not mean you think you’re perfect, usually quite the opposite.

And this. A lot of people get caught up in looking at other people’s flaws. Go into any church, synagogue, or place of worship. You’ll find a lot of flawed sinners in there.

Hey, everybody has to have at least one flaw.

I believe Christianity has the power to change lives for good. To transform people into something better IF they try to follow the basic “If you love me, keep my commandments.” and “Love thy neighbor.” Try is the operative word here. We’re all a bunch of flawed humans. We fall down a lot.

None of us know each other well enough on these forums to judge if someone’s Christianity has been a transformative power in their lives.

And it’s very easy to focus in on someone else’s mote and not see you’re own beam, to quote Matthew 7. Or to dismiss an entire religion because the people may do things that offend you, or appear hypocritical. Humans have flaws and weaknesses. Live with it.

Hypocrisy is not the be all, end all of sins that some people make it out to be. Just because someone is hypocritical doesn’t automatically mean that they are wrong, it just means that they need to pay better attention to their own advice.

I really really agree with this. I know I’ve screwed up more than I’d ever like to admit. And judging by my posts in the vaccine thread a lot of people seeing it for the first time might think I’m a completely angry bitter SOB. Truth is I lose my temper just like everyone else and I have my pet peeves that just eat at me too. One of the easiest ways to get me really angry is to tell me that because I in fact have limits or screw up somehow I’m not sincere in my beliefs. That is a criteria nobody on earth can live up to. In day to day life I’m much less intense.

I do very much agree with this website as a locker-room. I came here years ago because of that attitude and the irreverence and sort of Wild West feeling combined…somehow…with a serious crazy amount of nutrition and lifting knowledge from some of the most experienced minds in the world. Like a mad scientist locker room.

I liked the combination and lets be honest, I both need and want a place I can blow off steam and decompress, and sometimes that playground is virtual and sometimes playing gets rough and angry. That’s the down side of letting off steam. But, everybody needs a good rant once in a while.

In the end we are all just very imperfect and some sin with one area and other sin in a completely different area. Just because one LOOKS different than the other means nothing, they both fall far short of the measuring stick.
