PS3 or Wii?

I don’t think some people understand free time in a single man’s life. I am a grown man living alone. Yes, I work. Yes, I go to school. Often times I will work a second job or do side jobs for extra money. However, there a lot of hours in the week and I can fill the extra time with whatever the hell I want. If I want to stay up all night and play video games, even if it means I’m tired the next day, I can. I can do whatever the hell I please. How do people not understand this.

I actually feel like I have too much free time sometimes and am seriously considering getting a system for the first time since the original playstation, so this thread has been somewhat helpful to me.

As has been pointed out, it’s completely pointless to debate “which one is better” amongst the systems - it all comes down to how good the games will be for the systems. Period.

In addition, if you have been playing Sony or Nintendo or Microsoft products and liked them, you’ll likely stick with them. I’m a XBox guy and I loved my XBox and love my XBox 360 even more. There would have to be an absolute quantum leap in the quality of games and gameplay on a PS3 to get me to shift over.

That’s not to say PS3 isn’t going to be any good, but if I truly like what I have and PS3 does not have something overwhelming, why would I switch? Each system will boast aspects to it that will appeal to different people. And when I hear everyone debate which system is the most powerful, it makes my head spin since you can find 50 people to say PS3 with perfectly valid reasons and 50 people to say XBox 360 with perfectly valid reasons.

So me and my XBox 360 (and my soon to be delivered 50" Sony 1080p HDTV) will be perfectly happy playing Oblivion this weekend and if that doesn’t get ya going, so be it.

Hmm, no one has done it yet. Maybe I have to step up and do it myself to… ummm… myself.

"Hey dickwad, I just read yur profile, you f-ing tool. What a joke. Get a life cuz if you have a few thousand posts on here and shit and then say you are a lawyer, you prolly don’t workout. WTF? What kind of lawyer duz that shit? Where do you work and when can I come visit you? I don’t believe it. Send me one of those contracts to prove it and don’t give me some bullshit about it being secret or purprietory (sp?) 'cuz that’s you bein a pussy and stuff.

Face it, like, yur a M$oft fanboy gaywad and I play PS4 (I benn to Japan and got a modded one from some dude, ha ha! Eat that!) shit which like, totally rulez. And I dont waste time on stoopid forums with loosers like u 'cuz I am gonna get wasted and score some fine ass bittches.

You aint a lawyur 'cuz yur just posin. I’ve passed more bars than you, cept they were for getting shitfaced and I went in. Yeah."

Sometimes you have to step up and do the things no one else will, I guess.

Why thank you, that was rather refreshing? Care to talk about each of our mothers in a rude, crude and socially unacceptable fashion?

I’ll start:

“Your momma so old, she owes Fred Flintstone a food stamp.”

I feel so warm and tingly.

And thank you for the invitation to the slandering of each other’s matriarchs. An absolutely capital idea, old bean. I will do my best.

“Your momma so fat, when she back up she beep.”

You’re right! Very liberating!

Umm… just got to point out that a quantum leap is probably the smallest leap known to man in modern physics.

No, I haven’t; I had a low end Ti 4200 for $30 that lasted me until it got hit by lightning. I bought an x800 for 120 August of last year and won’t have to upgrade to get good performance until DX10 is mainstream and a game I want utilizes it, which probably won’t happen for another year and a half. I know some of the UberHARDCOWRE! gamers spend $500 every 4 months or so, but that’s not necessary for pretty darn good performance to me. Anything that can handle HL2 at max settings on my LCD is good enough for me.

Don’t mean to take the thread off topic but what are your system specs? I have an Athlon64 3800+, 512mb ddr400, geforce 6600 256mb PCI-E and I can’t run HL2 without hiccups, which is weird because I can run Doom3 at 1024x768 and max quality and play without a hitch. I’m thinking my vid card is the bottleneck because Oblivion doesn’t look that good either on my PC, if that game looks good on any PC.

I fail to see why people buy consoles at launch. In one or two years it’s going to be $200-300 with better games.

To bring this back on topic, I’d point out that this is exactly why people buy consoles. You’ve got a pretty decent rig, costing a lot more than 400$ and your games hiccup and/or don’t look too good.

Half-Life 2 runs perfectly well on my old Xbox.

Agreed.

The above is exactly why I buy consoles. A perfect example is that I bought Battlefield 2 for my PC and (according to the EA Web site) I had all of the proper specs to run it. Then, I try to actually play and it keeps crashing out on me. So, I get into an endless e-mail exchange with EA where they tell me that my video card (ATI X600, I believe) is not compatible… even though their site says so. Umm, OK?

I just don’t really want that hassle and I like the fact that when I pop a disc into my 360, it just works.

Who do you guys think will hold the market when it comes to online play?

XBox?

Last time Sony tried it, it was a disaster do they have something else up their sleeve?

Interesting question. I’m not all together clear on what the PS3’s exact on-line component will be, although I know there will be one and I would be surprised if they didn’t seek to have something good to rival XBox Live (which I have been really impressed with on the 360).

[quote]GaMeOvEr305 wrote:

I’m not sure that really applies, since you can’t get on Xbox Live using a Playstation and you won’t be able to connect to Sony’s network with an Xbox.

Currently, if you’re an online fanatic, you’re better off with the Xbox, but if Sony sells 50 million PS3s it won’t really matter who’s got the best online network. Everyone will play on the one offered with his console.

hey guys dont know if you heard this yet but doom (the original) is being released on live arcade today for 800 msp. it has 4 player co-op (on & offline), and online multiplayer.

Apparently Universal is no longer going to go the Blue Ray route. I’m unsure how official this is but I though I’d post it and see everyone’s thoughts.

I don’t think it’s your video card at those resolutions, I think it’s your RAM. 512 isn’t enough to really handle it well. I’m not entirely positive, but I believe using a dual core processor lets HL2 handle the physics better too.

I’m running a Pentium D 915 overclocked straight to hell at 3.73ghz, 2gb DDR2 533 RAM, Radeon x800gt (8 pipes only), under XP x64 at 1280x1024.

I think it may be that I’m running it 64 bit, honestly. I can’t run it at full blast under regular XP, though I don’t know if that’s just because I have more background processes running (I use x64 as my gaming OS).

HaHa!!!

I was leaning toward buying a Wii, but I am now sold on the 360.
