Hey guys. Some of you know from other thread I’m facing a decreased sex drive and weaker erections last couple of months - My diet is good, workouts are rigorous, visited 3 different endocrinologist and urologists but they couldn’t help.
I was wondering if proviron at 50mg daily for 8-10 weeks could help? I literally need it only to increase it my sex drive and general well-being, I know I can’t pack any muscle with it neither I want it.
However I’m not sure how suppressive it is. Some say it’s not suppressive at all of your natural T at lower dosages, other say it will definitely suppress.
So I’m not sure what to do. I really want to give it a go but If it stop my natural T producing my libido will be even worse if I’m right?
On the other hand, in this drug description, it is said that can help with erectile dysfunction and libido.
Thank you guys
It’s dose dependently suppressive, no less than other hormones
Given the oral bioavailability is 3%, you’d need to take quite a bit to achieve full suppression. Though 50-100mg Daily should cause you to dip down into a subclinical/full blown hypogonadal state
Yes, this might work, studies for the use off the drug as an antidepressant found it to be about on par with tricyclic antidepressants (largely phased out now). I assume the reason the drug was never marketed was due to
A - T supressioon
B - dyslipidemia (fairly profound)
C - Stigma
Get labs taken, low T/other endocrinological ailment or neurological abnormalities may be the culprit. You’re slapping a band aid over a gunshot wound here
Thank you for your reply. I have a lot of labs, this is what I’m really doing for last couple of months quite regularly - Visiting doctors and doing my bloodwork. These are my latest results:
As I said, I’m currently on T4 and bromocriptine, as my tsh and prolactin were elevated. Couple of guys from this forum helped me a lot and I managed to lower it down with mentioned medication but it did not help to improve my libido. Erections are a bit better but not significantly. Earlier I had high free test but lower total testosterone and now my free test is quite low for some reason.
That’s why I wanted to try with proviron but all I read is mixed opinion on suppression of natural T. I’m really willing to try anything as I’m in this state for a very long time now and I can’t bear it anymore.
I don’t know if 25mg could be helpful and maybe cause some mild suppression?
Also, would it cause suppression during the cycle or after it?
Holy shit, our triglyceride levels are LITERALLY identical…
You’re T isn’t great, literature would describe this as either subclinical or full blown hypogonadism depending on which paper you wish to refer to. 12.4 is around 360ng/dl, it’s not great… but depending on what country you reside in, good luck getting treatment (only private endocrinologists/ anti aging clinics would treat this number in Aus)… The doc I see would treat this number if one is symptomatic and it’s present in a young male.
You’re cholesterol is better than mine, as is/was expected given my genetics… my HDL is 1.1-1.2 and LDL is around 3.4, only reason it’s in check for me is due to my lifestyle (I presume)
@blshaw remember when you said “show me a 100-600 ref range, I don’t believe it”… this is around 130-700
estradiol appears to be elevated to a degree that’d be considered excessive considering you’re T status… What’s you’re BF%? Do you drink/take rec drugs? How’s sleep patterns, stress… any prescription medications? At this point it becomes more a comprehensive evaluation.
During and after, but if you’re unaware of this you shouldn’t be toying with the idea of any AAS use.
It does suppress T dose dependently, but because the oral bioavailability is so low 25mg won’t do much in the way of HTPA suppression, it is however… not a very smart decision to make… Getting to the root regarding why you’re T is low would be more important, and then treating said cause (and if TRT is the treatment then so be it). LH/FSH test would be helpful, as would adrenals…
Why though? Just using meds for a symptom without causation is once again… potentially slapping a bandaid over a gunshot wound.
Testosterone is bound to albumin and SHBG, both parameters are open to wild fluctuation.
I have a low bf, I’m not sure on % but I really look physically good some people think I’m on testo - I easily pack muscle, I slam workouts, I don’t have any sign of low T except my erectile dysfunction.
My protein sources are whole eggs, ground beef and chicken fillet, salmon, cottage cheese, carbs sources are oats, potato, whole rice, I eat alot of fiber like spinach, celery, beetroot, carrots, broccoli, and fruit in the morning (orange, apple, blueberries), fat sources are walnuts/almonds, olive oil, omega 3 fatty acids. I supplement 6000ui vitamine D, 2g vitamine c, 50mg zinc 500mg mag, spirulina, aswagandha (2g), fish oil 8-10 caps, vitamine E and vitamine B, 10mg citruline regularly. I live the healthiest possible life - I don’t use plastic, I never cheat meal and never eat s**t, never drink and smoke, exercise 6 times a week and doing hiit cardio twice a week.
My sleep is not very good but I think its due the current stress I’m facing. I sleep effectively maybe 5h, I often wake up and after that I’m hardly falling a sleep again.
I’m moving to Germany next month, there is no way someone will prescribe me TRT there. They think its all coming from my head
Also I stayed natural for all these years I really don’t like the idea of injecting myself on a regular basis but it seems inevitable.
Lost all hope mate
Then don’t go on TRT, you probably don’t need it
start punching durries
Just kidding…
How old are you? ED can be due to neurological imbalance, nerves, cardiovascular disease… many ailments
What prescription meds do you take aside from thyroid meds/caber
You could simply try a PDE5 inhibitor, simpler than TRT if it’s the only symptom you have
I turned 30 in december, not so young anymore
I don’t take anything beside t4 and bromocriptine and even that doctors wouldn’t prescribe me because they they think I’m perfectly fine as I look muscular and physically fine to them. Bunch of imbeciles.
I went to urologists and endos only. My prostate and testicles are fine, thyroid and pituitary fine as well.
My glucose is good, cholesterol good.
I didn’t check my cardiovascular status I might do that. I tried both viagra and cialis with my previous girlfriend (before she left) and it did not work.
I’m so anxious now to even have a sex. I think there is no worse feeling in the world than impotency…
Thing is I even have trouble masturbating - Takes too long to ejaculate and erections are very weak. Took 20mg cialis to test it recently (know it requires sexual stimulation to work properly but still) and it improved an erection during masturbation now but only slightly…
I don’t know what else to try, people report improved libido on cabergoline? My prolactin is still high maybe I should introduce it instead bromocriptine?
And something to improve my sleep as well its getting crazy how little I sleep last couple of months
@dreamz
Your T3 is not ideal. Are the labs you posted done while on T4 medication?
How high is your prolactin? Be careful with caber. It’s nothing to play with. If you have additional blood work post it.
When did your ED problems start and how did you first notice the issue?
Yes, tests were done recently and Im still on 75mg thyroxine and 2.5mg bromocriptine daily for month and a half. I’m afraid to drop it as my results improved, at least on paper. Before medication, my prolactin was around 600 and tsh around 5000. I did both pituitary and thyroid screening and they are both alright.
My glucose, cholesterol is good, prostate and testicles also screened and they are fine…
Cortisol was within range last time I checked at 430
(133-537).
Problems started maybe 2 years ago with previous girlfriend - my erections were quite weak. In a meanwhile I moved to Germany and didn’t have sex untill I met this girl. We tried several times but I just couldn’t maintain and hold erection and she left me obviously. Now I feel nothing - erections still weak, sex drive is literally non-existent. I don’t watch porn, I have to force myself to masturbate once in a while. Terrible feeling
Sorry mate forgot to ask, why to be careful with caber? I just started reading about this drug and it looks it can help my case? I read the side effects but they don’t seem terrible, at least they wont suppress me or disturb my hormones or am I missing something? I’d start with lower dosages obviously
I recommend doing a 24 Hour Saliva Cortisol test. Blood testing for cortisol is not helpful in most cases as cortisol is bound in the blood. Saliva measures free cortisol. You may have low cortisol, given your ED issue. Also, being on Dopamine agonists inhibits ACTH/Cortisol.
Ok, I will do one with saliva sample then.
I’m not a native english speaker, if I understood correctly last sentence, caber could help my case then? I will also check my acth, I never dis it before. Did my pituitary screening though and its normal
No. Cabergoline will make your ED worse by decreasing ACTH/Cortisol.
It makes you feel like complete shit
