I’m either moving to Canada or Scotland. Canada has the best women and Scotland is in England. It’s a toss up.

You started bleating about the US losing the War of 1812 - that was wrong, and ever since you were called on it, you have been trying to find a way out.
One of America’s goals was to defeat the British on the North American continent and take the Canadian territories. They failed in that regard. Not exactly a win for America.

This has gone on long enough. I’ll concede that it was a draw, seeing as little land was gained or lost on either side. Your side failed to take our land and our side failed to take yours.

Because all of America’s national myths are firmly rooted in fact?

I get it. You’re hung up on this idea that Canadians weren’t actually Canadian until 1983. If that’s how you choose to see the world, that’s your decision. We see things a little differently. Born and raised in Canada makes one Canadian, regardless of our nation’s political affiliation.
Plus, how exactly do you cheer the battle won? “Three cheers to remain a British subject - here’s to subjugation, to kneeling prostrate before a monarchy, to having the courage to remain in a kingdom!!!”

Takes guts, I tell you.
See, you had a chance there to end this discussion on mutually good terms, and you had to go ahead and blow it.

Read up on your own history and you’ll see that life among the Puritans wasn’t exactly a vacation in Freedomland. There were the witch trials, rampant gangsterism which persists today, lawlessness on the Western frontier, the prohibition, the slave trade, extermination of the native peoples… The list goes on.

Comparatively, living in peace, order, and relative freedom as a Briton doesn’t seem half bad a decision.

Glad to hear you see things my way!

Happy Canada Day!
