Everybody in my family knows I’m trying to lean down and I have heard some really bizarre stuff.
“Don’t do deadlifts, they’re bad for losing wieght.”
“Protein(powder) will just make you fatter.”
“You have to run at 90% of your maximum heat-rate for at least 20 min. to lose fat.”
I’ve also been told a number strategies including eat nothing but salad. Eat less than 15g of carbs a day. Yeesh. I went from 240lb to 210 losing three inches off my gut by following advice from T-Nation. The stupidity continues. Sunday night everybody had pizza, last night my wife brought me a big burrito from a fast food joint, and the other day had told me I’m not dropping enough weight. OH the INSANITY!
In the end, they’ll see your progress and hopefully come to the dark side.
I’ve gotten to the point where yesterday I started worrying whether I’d lost too much weight. I have not felt deprived, I have been eating all the time, and I cheat frequently. It’s not even on my mind, I just make my food in the morning and eat it, everything else follows.
(I think I decided that the fat I lost is probably ok, but I just really need to work harder to get my muscle mass up. Going to have to be a little more careful about getting enough to eat.)
