Protein Snacks

Heres a good article with a whole bunch of protein snacks: Protein Powder: For More Than Just Shakes!

Somewhat interesting, but most of them are recipes that anyone can make up with a little creativity.

What we need are recipes for snacks that are high in protein and low in carbohydrates.

One word: biltong.

Damn you!

How I miss that sweet, sweet meat - no meat taste as good as it does in SA.

I was hoping that this thread would be about high protein snacks that didn’t involve protein powder. I don’t have any supplements right now, and I have started to realize that it is a bit trickier to get enough protein(especially every meal) when I don’t have a scoop of protein powder.

For a bed time snack I sometimes have 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese with a packet of stevia and some cinnamon…

Get some low carb wraps, fill with chicken, drown in peri peri sauce. Low carb, high protein, tasty. Some lettuce might help, but its really not needed.

Im starting to hate “body building” recipies. Too much emphasis on protein powder, and tastless oat flour.

My friend has a recipie i dont mind, but i dont have on hand. Its basicly an ommellete in a wrap. But its got some protein powder padding, and veg thrown in with some ham. Then cooked thin INSIDE the wrap. So the wrap is cooked in the pan too. Till its crispy.

I eat a tuna fish (no mayo) sandwich with a slice of turkey on top and then I spread laughing cow cheese on the low carb whole wheat bread. not bad. The bread I eat only has 6g of carbs in each slice. Its called low carb bread or something like that.

Nice.
also try the tuna with fat free yogurt in place of the mayo and make your self tunafish sandwiches. Use Ezekile bread (I like the sesame) Solid

Speaking of tuna… Geneva Tonno light tuna in olive oil mixed with spinach and fontinella cheese. Or straight out of the can. Very good stuff. The only tuna better comes straight out the gulf stream and is ate raw on the boat or lightly seared back at home.

ah eggs yummy eggs

Frittatas

A frittata is a type of Italian omelette that frequently features fillings such as meats, cheeses, and vegetables. Like a normal omelette, a frittata is prepared in a skillet. However, whereas a normal omelette is cooked on a stovetop and served folded, a frittata is first partially cooked on a stovetop but then finished under the grill (broiler) and served open-faced. A basic cooking method is as follows:

Beat the eggs in a bowl until whites and yolks are blended.
Add vegetables and meat to the raw egg mixture.
Turn on the grill; on the stovetop melt some I can’t believe it’s not butter in a non-stick skillet with a heatproof handle.
When the butter is foamy, add the egg mixture, Cook slowly on a low heat until the mixture is set and only the top is runny.

Finish it under the grill; it should be set (as in “solid”), not brown (as in “burned”).
Serve hot or at room temperature, not cold.
