Protein Coffee

This is a very simple idea but it has helped me increase my daily protein intake.

Every time I have a up of coffee when it is half full I mix a scoop of chocolate protein powder into the warm coffe and hey presto a tasty beverage.

I have about 4 cups of coffee a day (lets pretend its decaf with no sugar in)

Sorry if this seems dumb to you but it has been great for me so I thought I would pass it on

Not dumb at all. I have done this with my pre-workout coffee. Chocolate is my favorite to add to the drink. Sometimes, I’ll add some ice to make it like a mocha drink.

Good tip, really, for increasing your protein intake.

I do this daily, discovered it myself a few months back and its definitely tasty.

Nice way to have sweetened coffee without extra carbs as well.

Proteinated coffee…
Been doin’ this in the morning since they came out with Grow! Whey.
The natural flavoring tastes just like one of those powdered coffee creamers.
Good stuff.

Thats funny, I thought about making a frappucino-style drink with my chocolate whey the other day.

how do you guys get the powder to mix ?

when I tried this , the powder wouldnt dissolve worth a shit . even tried shakin’ it…umm , bad idea…dont try that

the good stuff is out of my budget , so maybe my el-cheapo brand powder is to blame

It should dissolve easier in warm/hot water than cold. Must be cheap.

I actually put coffee in my protein to make it taste better.

I’ve added instant coffee to my protein drink and I love it.

I have a little frappe hand whisker, it only takes one battery but it froths coffee and powder up really nice.

Like another poster said it is better when its warm.

i pre brew a strong shot of coffee and then add it to my pre-workout shake once its cooled down, works really well.

I think the el-cheapo is to blame. My morning snack at work is a scoop and a half of Metabolic Drive vanilla (and a tablespoon and a half of milled flax seed) in a shaker with some ice cubes and hot decaf coffee. It shakes up lump free in seconds.

You guys don’t think the hot temperature can denature the proteins?

Doesn’t digestion denature protein?

I think the hot temperature of an anus can denature rodents lixy.

i have often wonderd what the damage to an amino acid chain would be under intense heat, although the research i did was inclusive, (as the pros and cons kinda balanced)
you have to ask yourself, how would protein bars be viable if protein would not tolerate heat, and also how would the amino acid chains in say beef or chicken survive when subjected to the high heat of a grill or oven?

One thing i did pick up from my research, and later on from a former gold medalist weight lifter and now nutritionist is that nearly all macronutrient enzymes are in some way compromised at heats in excess of 160 degrees C.

So i apply that to all of my food prep now, never subjecting food to over said amount.

However, i am currently very low carb so the above may sound like the ramblings of a madman

My work has those automatic coffee machines that actually brews decent coffee on the spot. I’ve been adding a cup to my workout shake for years. A very tasty caffiene hit.

What is everybodys thoughts on the Berardi article about how caffeine effects blood sugar and glycemic index of meals consumed after caffeine use?

I was just curious if there is any truth behind that or not?

EE you did good with this thread! I just made espresso, stuff so thick and strong, but dang it is good in Grow! Whey.

That sounds good! Love me some espresso, but it’s too late for today.
