Proper Surge and BCAA Timing

Products in question are all Biotest supps.

As it stands right now, I take 6 BCAA, then drive to the gym and workout.

After finishing the workout, I pop 6 more and drive home, then slam the Surge.

During training is impossible at my gym.

I do this so that the BCAA has 10 minutes or so to start digesting before I hit the gym… and also it has 10 minutes or so to be the only thing in my system when I’m done with the workout before I can drink my Surge.

Is this what they mean by pre and post work out? Or should I take it in the locker room then immediately walk out there and get after it? Should I instead finish my workout, take it, then immediately drink Surge?

thanks in advance!

Why is taking it during your workout impossible?

Gaping hole in intensity. I ain’t grabbin pills from my pocket with my Staph covered hands and throwing them into my mouth and hitting the fountain. That’s asking for a “trainer” to give me attention, to boot.

I already can’t bring in a nalgene bottle with any powder in the bottom of it.

Dude I had staph last year…why do you have it and why arent you getting it taken care of and why are you even in public with it

Sorry for the ambiguity.

Working out in a gym will put you in contact with all kinds of shit. One of the shits is staph. My hands are not going near my face while I’m in the gym. (So the reason I don’t take BCAA during workout is I’m not going to vigorously scrub my hands then take the pills THEN get back to work, loss of intensity and I’m in fat loss mode)

So I don’t have staph, nor do I want it. At the gym I don’t touch my face. I’d have no problem with it if I had a home gym, of course.

How do you know this?

what is staph?

I think what you are doing is fine…except I take Surge during and after. Or if it’s a light day, I’ll just take whey after.

Guess I don’t KNOW, but I have no symptoms of any sickness.

Lol alright, I just thought you meant you actively had the infection. Nasty stuff. Who ever ask, google image “staph infection”. You’ll find something interesting stuff.

Why cant you have them wrapped in a paper “cone” or some derivitive, slide it out of your pocket and dump them in your mouth?

And a s far as diminishing your “intensity”, how so? You can’t pop 'em and drink in 30 sec? It’s not a big production. Seriously, it won’t affect your intensity. BCAA’s DURING a workout will actually help boost it.

But what would you say about my pre and post workout BCAA/Surge regimen?

I would say “read this”. It will tell you if you are doing things right or not and maybe give you some good tips.

How long of a drive is it to get home? If it’s a quick ride, then what you are doing is probably fine, if it’s more than 5-10 minute ride though, I would think about bringing your Surge with you and pounding it after your workout.

In general, the quicker it gets in your system the better to stop the catabolic state.

Have you tried take half your Surge before your work-out? Many people recommend it, since it gives you a nice energy reserve from the carbs it provides not to mention the other goodies it has.

If you want to maximize your results from your regimen without drinking or taking any pills during your workout, I would take your BCAA’s before you leave for the gym, bring your Surge with you, drink half in the car before you go in, finish your work out, take the rest of your BCAA’s with the remaining Surge when you get back out to your car.

Of course, I’d only leave the Surge in your car if it’s cool out or you have a cooler you can bring with you.

Wow sounds like a strict gym. Personally I would dissolve it in water first and bring it in with me to sip during the workout.

I don’t understand, will you get kicked out if you bring a nalgene bottle with powder in it? If not and the only thing you risk is someone asking you about it or looking at it weird… then obviously who cares?

As for the sanitary issues, bring the pills in a plastic bag or something and don’t touch the pills with your hands, just put them in your mouth via plastic bag.

Staph is a very common bugger - it’s generally believed that around 30% of the U.S. population has it in some place, whether it’s on their skin or in their nose or throat.

So, chances are, either you have it or someone close to you has it. Most people with Staph have it in what’s called “colonization”, meaning that, although the bacteria is present, it isn’t in the form of an infection (so no visible symptoms).

While it IS possible to snag it from skin-surface contact, infections are usually the result of poor hygiene or wound care (mostly in hospital settings). Healthy people really aren’t too much at risk from any serious type of Staph infection, at least, not enough to lose sleep over.

That’s just to put it in a little perspective for ya. Now, I’m not saying you should just man up and pop the BCAA’s, as that is definitely your choice (and you never know how well some gyms take care of their equipment). My suggestion would be to keep them in a napkin or something in your bag, then just roll them on in whenever you feel the need to. Me? I wouldn’t worry about it, but I wouldn’t advise someone to go ahead and do something that may (however slight the chances are) lead to an infection.

Haha this is actually what I do, if I accidentally touch the inside of the bag I just transfer the BCAA caps to a new one. Paranoid? Yes.
