I agree Pudz is badass alright, but I think it would be a lot better if you hadn’t used the word “beautiful” to describe his body.
Damn, that’s more replies than I ever expected, which is good! The shaving and oiling thing does not bother me. I really don’t care. I look up to these guys (I selective list of them) because you will never be satisfied with your body ever if you always compare yourself to them. Compare with the best and be the best. That’s another reason why my workout partner is the biggest mofo in school. Also, you have got to admire the dedication especially if you workout and you know what it takes to get there (no, I’m not talking about drugs).
That being said, don’t think I’m gonna take roids to look like them.
I love bobdybuilding, but I think competitive bodybuilding is an absolute joke, with the amount of drugs used, and the type of look that is rewarded. Yeah, they may work hard, but its fucking ridiculous the way they look. I much prefer the physiques of the 70s and early 80s to the physiques of today.

Okay. I think he’s disgusting. Happy now?
Really… just, yeeeck. Those abs… ugh, those legs. Oh god I’m gonna be sick. Are you happy now?
I really hope you were joking. Arnold in the 70s was a good looking guy. Same for Zane. This pudz guy? Geez that is just wrong.

LOL. I had a feeling I would get such a response. But I’m not one to hold back on my opinions. I think there’s room for both of us in this world. The ideal physique ultimately lies in the eye of the beholder…
Ladies and gentlemen, Tony Jaa:[/quote]
But he’s not a professional bodybuilder, and that’s the point - what do you think of “pro bodybuilding.”
Anyway, most pro bodybuilders look pretty bad to me. I look elsewhere for physique inspiration.
You know I beleive that every single one of those pro bodybuilders and for that matter national level competitors if they felt they had a choice would not use. Don’t kid yourself into believing that Dugdale, Labrada, or even Zane did not use and are still using their fair share of drugs. If I choose to smoke crack once a day or do it 10 times a day which is more wrong. Both are equally wrong.
Yes some of the pros are freaky but I’m not absolutely certain that drugs are the culprit. Dave Draper in his time abused the heck out of G from cadavers! Did he get a bloated belly? I think if there was more focus on posing presentation some things would change.
But really the athletes are only doing what they believe it takes to win. Do you think it’s any different in any other sport? It’s just in bodybuilding the physical effects are that more obvious. I think the so called problems that are present in the sport are no worse then any other sport. Bottom line, if the fans didn’t want it they would not go and cheer on these athletes.
Also, the judges are equally responsible for choosing to reward certain bodies as champions. I bet if the judges changed who they put on the podium that physiques would start to change. Get real, nobody likes sticking needles or foreign substances in their body and having non functional muscle per say.
If you truly beleive that drug use is the single culprit of this sport then your not opening your eyes. There are multiple problems that have been present for a long time and if you want them to change then focus on the big picture. I don’t have all the answers but I do know that change starts with myself then radiates to those who I inspire.

How are either one of those things “wrong”?
Bodybuilding as a sport is too subjective for my tastes.
It’s not necessary wrong depending on what a person’s perception of right and wrong is. It’s just to criticize these athletes and their use of drugs and not look at the big picture I believe is one sided. I live under the pretense that what you choose to do with your body is your choice.
That being said, I also believe that you must except the consequences of what particular lifestyles bring. Nobody is a victim it is simply a matter of circumstance. Accepting responsibility for your actions I believe is what is lacking.

I’ve met some bodybuilders locally and my impression was that they wanted to be big and freaky and used the fact that “you have to juice/use GH to be competitive” almost as an excuse.
Back to the topic at hand, Serge Nubret was also impressive as hell. I may have got this pic from powerful images, I forget.
They just look like comic book characters if you ask me. Anyway I think pro bodybuilding is really gay thesedays. Not about physique anymore really just about who is the hyoooogest. Bunch ah freaks.
Anyone else think Coleman should try his hand at powerlifting?
Personally, I was blown away by the way Troy Alves looked at the Ironman. Damn near perfect.
But the problem is that there is no way of knowing how many illicit substances someone is taking. People assume that Dexter is less-shot-up than Ronnie. But Dexter was smaller to begin with. Maybe he had to take way more than Ronnie just to get to 230. So I assume that every pro uses every illicit substance imaginable and go from there.
Therefore, idolizing the “attainable” physiques is depressing. Because it means that if I quit my job, shot loads synthol, turned myself into a diabetic with insulin shots, downed a ton of GH, used every steroid I could find and made my training my entire life, I’d only be as big as Frank Zane.
Yes, aesthetics are sort of important. I’m not saying we ought to make Atwood Mr. Olympia. But Branch Warren, Ronnie or Jay? Hell yeah.
You don’t have to want to drive like a NASCAR racer to appreciate how fast he goes.
