Priorities -- Iraq or al Qaeda?

RSU,

“left a very bitter taste in the world’s mouth, it seems.”

Maybe you could go join your friends in France.

They agree with you.

I’ll stick with the “Cowboy.”

Evil-doers and Bad Guys beware.

JeffR, I think you’d be hardpressed to find too many people who agree with you that it is okay for the US to act purely in its own immediate, short-term interest with no regard for the rest of the world.

BTW, how cliche is it to still be using “you’re French” as an insult? lol…move along now.

RSU:

How naive it is to think that the US should not act in it’s own best interests! Wow, you are just getting in deeper and deeper!

Do you honestly think that we have become the super power that we are because we kowtow to the UN at every turn? Do you really think France cares one whit about American security?

You have a lot of growing up to do kid!

Of course it is ok for the U.S. to act in it’s own short-term interest without regard to the rest of the world, and making fun of the French will never go out of style.

So my statement in question is this:
Do you think it’s okay for the US
…to act purely in its own immediate, short-term interest with no regard for the rest of the world.
I think you’ve sidestepped my point, ZEB (How long has ADHD affected you?). The topic my statement referenced was opinion of the US abroad, and how our actions influence that opinion. Perhaps the opinion of other nations doesn’t matter to you, JeffR, or doogie, but I think it should.

This might be a decent example: would you prefer for 9/11 never to have happened or to have happened and then have the US kill a bunch of people? I’d prefer the former – that 9/11 never happened – and I hope you would too.

Now, my intentions are not to imply that the US was at fault for what happened to us that day – certainly not, that blame lies with the perpetrators of the atrocity. However, the hate that fuels those killers is something that perhaps we can control, and running around the world taking over who we please and whimsically bombing places is perhaps not a great long-term strategy (nor, do I think, a good short term strategy – however, I understand that you do think this short-term approach is appropriate).

I don’t think we should bow down to anyone who disagrees with us, but I think our arrogance has accellerated in recent years, and this cause us to lose support throughout the world.

A more parallel example, and perhaps particularly useful to ZEB since it relates to his level of education, might be the biggest kid in the 8th grade strutting around the lunchroom offering kids pennies for their lunches. The kids fork over the lunch for so long before they realize they’ve been getting ripped off and refuse. The bully, in response to this resistance, simply takes the lunch and leaves with the smaller kids a threat of violence. It might only be a matter of time before the smaller kids get together and refuse collectively to give the bully their lunches, and since the bully can’t beat them all at once, they’ve the upper hand.

Sort of parallel, I don’t know…

lol

RSU,

If our Founding Fathers had taken a poll before starting our Revolution, you would have been hard pressed to find a single government that would have supported them.

Doing the right thing can be very painful. There are plenty of critics like yourself in every endeavor.

The sad truth of the matter is this: If the Democrats in the White House, you would be a one-hundred percent proponent of our actions.

No question about it.

Did you catch Kerry in 1997 on Crossfire arguing for a unilateral, pre-emptive strike against Iraq?

That makes me laugh out loud!!!

You support a guy who is all over the map on every single issue. Even if every silly little liberal tag line about Bush is true, I submit Kerry is a far worse candidate. Especially, post-911.

I think you should take Zeb up on his offer. Stick with your candidate. John Kerry is fantastic!!! He can’t lose!!! What a statesman!!! Remember John Edwards in July? He was chanting, “We are going to win!!!” He can’t be wrong Zeb.

Put your money where your mouth is.

JeffR

Good point…

Very true.
Big question about it – you’re incorrect. I’m not that partisan. I tend toward Democratic policies, but in this election – more than anything – I want a change in the WH.

No, I didn’t see it.

I’ve never said “he is going to win.” I have said " I will vote for him." What’s so difficult with that?

JeffR
Perhaps I will if you step up to the plate next to your cohort…can I eliminate 2 of you fools if Kerry wins? Would I even be eliminating two folks, or in fact the same individual?

Do I even desire this? – No, because you’re entitled to write what you wish no matter how much it aggrivates me.

RSU:

Well, I see you couldn’t get through another post without two personal attacks. The only “parallel” that you seem to draw is one of a child who throws a stone at someone then runs to hide behind his Mommy. You love to insult anyone who defends the President, yet you will not stand behind your own candidate. I guess this is not so puzzling given your age and lack of real life experience.

Not everything you typed is foolish kid stuff however. I do agree with this: “Making fun of the French will never go out of style.” And if you look around this fourm making fun of RSU seems to never go out of style. you want respect so badly, yet never get it. You continue to be a legend in your own mind kid.

I’ll just point out a couple of your silly naive statements: “Running around the world taking over whoever we please.” Well at least we all know you didn’t get any help writing this drivel.

“The hate that fules those killers is something that perhaps we can control.” Hahha…Yea sure we can all we have to do is invite them over for tea and get to know each other. They do a lot of that in la la land.

“Our arrogance has accelerated.” Yes, we sure are arrogant attempting to defend ourselves and take out an evil dictator.

RSU just becaue you were beaten up as a child and forced to give your lunch money to some bully really has no bearing on world events. (However, I am sorry that it happened to you as It has apparently scarred you in an ugly way)

I’m still ready to bet three months on this forum! You still afraid to stand behind your man Kerry?

Okay, have to get going to work now, no more time to play. Oh…sorry RSU I’ll explain: You see work is a place that you go to earn money for yourself, your wife and children…Oh sorry…You see adults marry and sometimes raise a family which must be supported by hard work…Oh no…you see hard work is something you have never experienced before and would take far to long to explain right now.

Keep your funny posts coming you have no idea the PM’s I am getting related to you!

Bye kid!

Wow ZEB, an entire post trying to piss further than me. Good one.

RSU:

You went from talking about my dick in another thread, to seeing how far it can piss in this one!

You are going to have to refocus my friend. I think you might be distracted…

Reading posts like those here further explains why we get nothing done…we spend way too much time insulting each other; trying to be more clever, cynical, abrasive, and abusive than the next person… you try and impress with your knowledge and wit…well, it falls flat!

kill a Muslim for Christ!

hobs:

What do you suggest that we “get done” in here? Civil discourse is all we can hope for.
