GL, from experience with Varsity ball, the number one thing you can do to improve recovery and stave off damage is to cold tub.
Camp injuries and soreness dropped when our guys cold tubbed, even with 3-a days.
As far as anticatabolic supplements, Surge is great. You’ll not only have the aminos for repair, but the carbs to assist this process in addition to supplying energy.
IF you bring it to the field with you, make sure it’s very dilute. If you don’t, be sure to have a drink or two when you get done each session.
I’m still not sold on contrast showers, because damaged proteins etc. are cleared by the lymphatic system, which is only affected by body movement-not temperature (the way blood flow is affected).
End Part 1.

Hopefully, you’ll be on tommorrow so this will get answered… I’ll post it now so I don’t forget.
What anticatabolic supplements? Like Surge? I did that last time and I was still a bloody mess. I even went to the point I brought the Surge to practice and sipped on it when we got water breaks. [the coach called it jungle juice ;-)] However, I was still miserable during the 2 week period of 3 a days. I remember walking down stairs sideways every day.
Any supplement recommendations would be beneficial. I remember all my lifts went to hell after the two weeks. I lost 7 pounds which was extremely upsetting. In addition, I would hate to lose this muscle I have gained through this S2B challenge.
If there are any recommendations for the little electic electrodes(whatever the trainers use) that would be cool. Like what voltage or whatever. I’ll be in the whirl pool as well after each practice. Contrasting showers helped a little as well last time. Maybe I’ll get one of those foam rollers as well. Also, I remember I would like heal and be real tight only to rip the muscles again with all the cutting and running the next day. It was horrible… 12 guys quit. 5 of them got soo sick in the heat they were puking while they were watching on the sidelines. They were not even doing anything. I remember one night I swear they turned the AC off and I was soo sore that I couldn’t fall asleep and was shaking. Yeah, don’t want that to happen again. LOL It was like we were getting interrogated or POWS. I know I’m dramatizing the experience comparing it to those things but I felt like it…
Anyway, I’m just trying to go in with a plan because last time I really didn’t. I don’t if my recovery is horrible or what but I thought if I had my own little recovery schedule I could battle against their schedule.
