Prime Time: Barrometer Dropping

Mike, great idea about HOT-ROX!

Keeping the schedule as you have it below is a good idea.

Cordyceps may actually affect cellular energy levels in a way that would NOT be conducive to fat loss.

When you go back on, I suggest taking 4 caps of Maximum Strength HOT-ROX 2X/day.
Keep us updated (as always LOL)!

I had been taking HOT-ROX for a while so my thought was to cut it out for a couple of weeks and then reintroduce it around 7 weeks out. So should I take certain supps in the morning rather ,than in the evening? This is my breakdown: Morning - 3x Alpha Male
- 2x Methoxy-7
Mid Day - 3x Alpha Male
- 1x Carbolin 19
Night - 2x Methoxy-7
- 1x Carbolin 19
When I add HOT-ROX back it will be 4xmorning.

What is you view on the supplement cordyceps?
So taking cordyceps in the am with Alpha Male would not aid with natural T-Boost?

I will probably do twice a day with HOT-ROX however it can get expensive.

GL, you’re going to want to focus on CHO’s and protein for the camp. Having said that, you’ll be burning calories pretty bad and fat will help with that.

The bottom line is that you need to get as many Cals as possible, but focus on protein and CHO’s for recover/energy. Camp is a killer and you should be breaking down muscle pretty bad.

If you can take anticatabolic supplements, this is where they’ll shine!

Hopefully, you’ll be on tommorrow so this will get answered… I’ll post it now so I don’t forget.

What anticatabolic supplements? Like Surge? I did that last time and I was still a bloody mess. I even went to the point I brought the Surge to practice and sipped on it when we got water breaks. [the coach called it jungle juice ;-)] However, I was still miserable during the 2 week period of 3 a days. I remember walking down stairs sideways every day.

Any supplement recommendations would be beneficial. I remember all my lifts went to hell after the two weeks. I lost 7 pounds which was extremely upsetting. In addition, I would hate to lose this muscle I have gained through this S2B challenge.

If there are any recommendations for the little electic electrodes(whatever the trainers use) that would be cool. Like what voltage or whatever. I’ll be in the whirl pool as well after each practice. Contrasting showers helped a little as well last time. Maybe I’ll get one of those foam rollers as well. Also, I remember I would like heal and be real tight only to rip the muscles again with all the cutting and running the next day. It was horrible… 12 guys quit. 5 of them got soo sick in the heat they were puking while they were watching on the sidelines. They were not even doing anything. I remember one night I swear they turned the AC off and I was soo sore that I couldn’t fall asleep and was shaking. Yeah, don’t want that to happen again. LOL It was like we were getting interrogated or POWS. I know I’m dramatizing the experience comparing it to those things but I felt like it…

Anyway, I’m just trying to go in with a plan because last time I really didn’t. I don’t if my recovery is horrible or what but I thought if I had my own little recovery schedule I could battle against their schedule.

Doesn’t M have reservatol?

Grork, if you’re mixing each shake in milk you’ll really hinder your ketosis as you’ll be steadily supplying your body with carbs. One or maybe two glasses a day are okay, but I’d certainly minimize its intake.

Great question!
Grork wrote:
Hey Dave,

I’m thinking of starting the V-diet next week. I’m wondering how low the carb intake has to go to hit solid ketosis since I prefer to mix my low-carb protein shakes in non-hardcore carb-laden milk.

ty, Grork

p.s. I’m not sure if this is the type of question that gets answered during prime time, my apologies if it isn’t
Mike, looking at it from a testosterone perspective, cordyceps may have an effect on its own. My big question about combining it with Alpha Male, is that the latter is already giving you a large increase in Test.

Alpha Male was designed for synergy among its ingredients, and I’d be cautious about throwing in another T booster, as it may upset the effect.

Bottom Line: Even if it works on its own, I don’t think cordyceps could have an additional effect on top of Alpha Male.

GL, from experience with Varsity ball, the number one thing you can do to improve recovery and stave off damage is to cold tub.

Camp injuries and soreness dropped when our guys cold tubbed, even with 3-a days.

As far as anticatabolic supplements, Surge is great. You’ll not only have the aminos for repair, but the carbs to assist this process in addition to supplying energy.

IF you bring it to the field with you, make sure it’s very dilute. If you don’t, be sure to have a drink or two when you get done each session.

I’m still not sold on contrast showers, because damaged proteins etc. are cleared by the lymphatic system, which is only affected by body movement-not temperature (the way blood flow is affected).
End Part 1.

Have you ever been to Germany? I hear it’s wunderBarr.

GL part 2. Football camp is hell for several different reasons, and while you can’t control your on-field time, you can control what you do in the time off.

This is why you need to be focused on resting recovery.

The excessive damage that happens during exercise is Phase I Damage. This is caused by physical trauma from contact -or normally just eccentric contractions.

This induces Phase II Damage, which is the damage caused by our own inflammatory response. You need to kill Phase II Damage, which is where cold tubbing comes in.

End Part 2.

Bastard! (he always adds that to his posts, but left it out this time)

Watson, M doesn’t contain resveratrol, but for our health, we probably all be consuming it anyway.

While there needs to be quite a bit more scientific literature on it before I actually start suggesting that people use it, it looks really promising. Sadly, it just might be one of those areas where physique/performance enhancement clash with health/longevity.

Ah yes, how very observant you are. My post was indeed a bit BARRen without it!

Hey Wonka BARR,

I got to hear about half of your phone interview w/ Charles Staley last week and I was wondering if you have been using beta-alanine? If so, have you noticed any benefit?

Do you mean RESVERATROL? The constituent of red wine? If not what is this compound.

A note on the cool tip today
Improved ab training

Here?s a simple trick to improve your ab development. Instead of focusing on the standard sit up motion–which largely activates your hip flexors–concentrate on crunching your breast bone down to your pelvis. This will maximally activate the abs without having the hip flexors take over.
One of my athletes suggested that I basically describe this to guys as; “trying to autofellate”. According to the movie Clerks, we’ve all tried this before, so you should know exactly what I’m talking about.

Dave,

What does your “on the road” diet look like?

RIT Jared, oh man, you don’t even want to know! While my GF is great at packing sandwiches and picnic-type items, I’m quite content to live off of Grow! Barrs and pre-mixed Low-Carb Grow! drinks (or spooning powder right out of the bottle).

I’m usually hurting for Calories and take no issue with stopping for fast food. In TX, this means Whataburger or Wendy’s (junior burgers are a buck each!). If we want to get out of the car for a bit, Cracker BARRel has excellent high Calorie food.

If you’re a little more Calorie-conscious, let me know!

Would you use beta-alanine with Surge or instead of Surge? Or would you cycle between the two?

Old Thread but…
M lists 3,5,4’-trihydroxystilbene as an ingredient.

I did a google search and a few pages claim this is resveratrol…
